The solution is targeted to hotel businesses, retreat owners, resort owners/operators, hospitals, apartments, condominiums and any high tenancy buildings that require wired/wireless Internet access and uninterrupted TV viewing.
Today’s event marks the first signing of the recently launched solution by TM.
Norliza Hj Jaafar, State General Manager, TM MSC and Azman Yusof, General Manager, Medium Business Sales, SME signed the Service Agreement on behalf of TM while Putrajaya Shangri-La was represented by its General Manager, Atiq Rehman and Financial Controller, Tracy Tang. Present to witness the ceremony were Azizi A. Hadi, Executive Vice President, SME, TM and Jeremy Kung, Executive Vice President, New Media, TM
Commenting on the new partnership, Norliza said, “I am excited that today we are collaborating with Putrajaya Shangri-La, the first hotel in Malaysia to sign-up for our Hospitality Entertainment Solution since its launch in June 2013. Congratulations for being a leader in adopting the best ICT and entertainment solution for the hospitality industry!”
“The agreement today signifies a big paradigm shift for SMEs in Malaysia, especially those in the hospitality industry. This all-in-one hospitality entertainment solution is specially developed to elevate the hotel guest experience and also to ease their technical management concerns as the solution provides High Speed Broadband Internet access via TM’s UniFi, world-class entertainment via HyppTV, as well as a 24/7 Call Centre and Customer support. So the hotel can focus on what they do best which is providing convenience and hospitality to their patrons, and let us do the rest,” added Norliza.
Norliza continued, “I am optimistic about the potential benefits that this strategic partnership with Putrajaya Shangri-La will bring, especially to the SME segment. This partnership adds another chapter for TM, in line with our ‘Business Made Easier’ aspiration to become the preferred communications and complete solutions partner to SMEs in Malaysia.”
“As we all know, Shangri-La stands as a synonym for paradise, and the name perfectly encapsulates the genuine serenity and service for which Putrajaya Shangri-La is recognised. Our smart partnership with TM, allows us to provide the high quality service offerings our guests have come to expect from us. We are truly proud and honoured to be associated with this innovative and pioneering solution from the nation’s premier communications provider,” said Atiq Rehman in his speech at the signing ceremony.
"In this modern age of smartphones, the hospitality industry needs to ensure that our guests are not only comfortable and contented, but very, very well connected. Modern travellers are looking to escape into a world of comfort and respite, while staying connected to their network of family, friends and business associates and internet accessibility becomes even more important in the suite of services a hotel provides,” Atiq added.
The collaboration between both parties is timely as it goes in tandem with the current Visit Malaysia 2014 campaign by the Government to promote Malaysia’s hospitality industry. This is also boosted by the heightened awareness of hotel brand names and hospitality-related services through the current influx of business travellers, tourists and also the recent mention of Malaysia as a Medical Tourism Haven in Southeast Asia.
According to Tourism Malaysia’s data, a total of 25.03 million tourists entered Malaysia in 2012, an increase of 1.3% year-on-year compared to 2011, making our country the 10th most visited country in the world in 2012.
Connectivity, HyppTV & No Worries!
The agreement will enable Putrajaya Shangri La to offer their guests high quality user-friendly “plug-and-play” internet access where guests away on holiday can remain connected to their loved ones by sending email, holiday photos, and videos or update their social media networks. Provided at all areas of the premise including the 118 guest rooms in the hotel, Hospitality Entertainment Solution also enables guests to play online games within their hotel rooms! Most importantly, business guests can also enjoy secured access to their corporate intranet enabling them to stay productive while they are away from their office.
Subscribers to this service are offered up to 60 HyppTV channels to choose from HyppTV’s library for their guests; which include seven (7) Free To Air (FTA) channels and 53 premium channels.
With TM’s Hospitality Entertainment Solution, hoteliers can focus more on their daily operations and leave the technical operations of their overall entertainment offerings to the designated call centre to take care of. As part of its value-added service, the Call Centre will be managing any issues or complaints from the property owner/manager and the end user on WiFi access and HyppTV channels.
