hp與MTV舉辦全球手提電腦設計比賽

Youth Designers in Asia Pacific “Take Action, Make Art” for the HP and MTV Global Notebook PC Design Competition

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 18 October 2007 – Youths in Asia Pacific are “taking action and making art” for the HP and MTV global notebook PC graphics-design competition. 25 percent of 3,200 entries have been submitted from Asia with youths in Pakistan and Malaysia submitting one of the highest number of entries from around the world. Since its inception on 12 September 2007, the online website www.mtv-tama.com has generated a remarkable 1.7million visits[1] of which 15 percent of the pageviews are unique to Asia Pacific. Of the 78,000 unique visits to the WAP site[2], a significant 50 percent come from Asia Pacific.

The global competition challenges youths to develop designs that communicate a positive thought, a belief, a message that they want to broadcast to the world to show us what is personal to them. The winning submission will be used in the design of a special artist edition HP Pavilion notebook PC using the company’s innovative HP Imprint finish.

“The designs from Asia Pacific resonate with creative passion and personal ideas, reflecting the strength of thought behind the designs, showing that imagination has no limit,” said Danny Lee, Country General Manager, Personal Systems Group, Hewlett-Packard (M) Sdn Bhd. “HP is the first PC company to recognize that the PC is the emotional hard drive of people’s lives. The ‘Take Action: Make Art’ competition taps into this emotional connect to create avenues of expression, delivering on HP’s personal promise. It has certainly been inspiring to see such expressive creativity in Asia.”

Entries can still be submitted at www.mtv-tama.com till Oct. 17. In addition, visitors to the site can win cool HP products by logging in and voting for their favorite design.

“Both youth and technology share something in common – the potential and prominence as expressive forces of tomorrow. HP and MTV recognize this relationship and want to cultivate this dynamic and personal connection between the two. We are extremely thrilled at how well the design competition is resonating amongst the Asia Pacific youth audience and the intense creativity that has resulted from this programme,” commented Ian Stewart, SVP, Viacom Brand Solutions & MTV Networks.

The winner of the competition will be flown to attend the MTV Europe Music Awards in Munich, Germany, in November as a special guest of MTV where the new limited edition design will be showcased on the HP Pavilion dv2000 series notebook featuring the Intel® Centrino® Duo processor.

The winner will also be invited to visit several HP sites, including Tokyo and Houston, to witness his or her design as it makes its way through the notebook development process. The notebook is expected to be available to consumers worldwide in March 2008, and winning designs from runners-up in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States will also have their personal expressions created into adhesive notebook “skins” available to consumers around the world.
