MIMOS與Agilent Technologies欲設亞洲測量科技卓越中心

CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGIES IN ASIA (CEMTA) TO INTRODUCE LATEST TEST AND MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGIES TO INDIGENOUS INDUSTRIES

KUALA LUMPUR, NOVEMBER 9, 2007 – Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A), the premier Test and Measurement company in the world, and MIMOS – the premier applied research centre in frontier technologies – recently entered a Memorandum of Understanding that outlines collaboration in the area of Test and Measurement through the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Measurement Technologies in Asia (CEMTA).

CEMTA, to be located at MIMOS headquarters in Technology Park Malaysia, will showcase Agilent’s new Test and Measurement technologies and solutions, by providing a platform for industries in the country to visit and understand the key new technologies and applications in the Test and Measurement market. In this way, an effective environment for the development of cutting edge R&D within the local electronics industry can be jointly developed.

“This is a win-win proposition for both MIMOS and Agilent in line with MIMOS efforts of encouraging the dynamic sharing of knowledge, resources and technologyby fostering effective alliances with like-minded industry players. This is in line with MIMOS belief that a collaborative environment intensifies the development of new knowledge and technologies. In R&D, it is important that there is dynamic exchange of ideas among partners in order to be able to effectively respond to the challenges in the industry,” said Dato’ Abdul Wahab Abdullah, President & CEO, MIMOS.

“Agilent is a globally recognized company for technology excellence” said Mr Gooi Soon Chai, President for Agilent Malaysia. He also noted that for real R&D to take root, it is time that local companies seriously begin the process of acquiring the necessary competencies to become world class technology partners to customers like Agilent. “From this perspective, Agilent will be launching a strategic initiative to create an R&D Ecosystem. We will form strategic partnerships with the government, universities and local design partners with the objective of taking the local R&D community to the next level” he added. Mr Gooi concluded that today’s MOU is the first important step for Agilent and MIMOS to work in together towards achieving this objective.
