2大馬MSC資格公司獲得CMMI認證

CMMI Assessment Makes Two MSC Malaysia Status Companies Competitive In And Outside Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – December 07, 2007 – 37 MSC Malaysia status companies presently hold CMMI assessment and through the MSC Malaysia Capability Development Program (MSC Malaysia CDP) 15 more MSC Malaysia status companies are expected to achieve CMMI assessment in 2008

Mr. S V Lingam, Managing Director, Paradigm Systems Bhd., said, “We achieved CMMI Maturity Level 2 rating through the MSC Malaysia CDP in 2006. The CMMI assessment helped us bring our various software development processes into alignment and this has had a direct impact on our business performance. On a project-to-project basis we have seen a 25% drop in our software development costs, service calls have fallen by 39% and errors during development have reduced by 46%.”

“As a result of the process improvements and savings we have realised through adopting the CMMI we have now decide to pursue CMMI Maturity Level 3 assessment,” Mr. Lingam added.

CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. It can be used to guide process improvement across a project, a division, or an entire organization. CMMI helps integrate traditionally separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a point of reference for appraising current processes.

“The CMMI is an important part of Cuscapi's aggressive international expansion plans,” said Mr. Danny Leong, CEO, Cuscapi Bhd, another company that received its CMMI maturity rating through the MSC Malaysia CDP. The company's R&D subsidiary, Cuscapi Innovation Lab Sdn. Bhd., successfully completed CMMI Level 3 assessment in August 2007. “Being CMMI assessed is a requirement for most tenders in the United States and Europe and from all MNCs. And as markets mature in Asia, companies in this part of the world are also seeing the CMMI as a key competitive differentiator when evaluating tenders.”

Paradigm Systems Bhd. had been considering CMMI assessment since 2001 but logistical obstacles prevented them from pursuing assessment until 2005. “The MSC Malaysia CDP was a huge boon to us in our pursuit of CMMI assessment,” said Mr. Lingam. “The CDP helped us find the necessary expertise and training resources in a timely manner and at a cost-effective price.” Paradigm Systems took 16 months to complete CMMI Maturity Level 2 assessment.

Through the MSC Malaysia CDP, CMMI Maturity Level 2 assessment costs RM50,000 and CMMI assessments for Maturity Level 3 costs between RM200,000 – RM300,000 which makes it more affordable for the suitable MSC Malaysia status companies to pursue it though the MSC Malaysia CDP than on their own. Furthermore, MDeC reimburses companies that successfully complete CMMI assessment with up 50% of this cost.

The MSC Malaysia CDP is designed to help local ICT organisations develop their capabilities in delivering quality products and services in an increasingly demanding, competitive and sophisticated global market. To date, 600 organisations have benefited from these programmes in 2007 alone and more than 100 have been certified since the programme was launched in 2004.

The response to the programmes offered has been very encouraging. The country had fewer than a 100 PMP (project management programme) professionals in 2005 and only 1 CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) company assessed in 2004 and today through the efforts of the MSC Malaysia CDP, there are more than 800 PMP-certified individuals and 37 CMMI-assessed MSC Malaysia companies in Malaysia.
