Fortinet Holds Market Lead in Worldwide UTM Revenue According to Leading Market Research Firm

Company Also Maintains a Strong Position in Overall Network Security Appliance Market

Malaysia, 20 June 2008 ― Fortinet – the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions – today announced that new IDC research data confirms that the company again ranked No. 1 in worldwide UTM factory revenue for Q1 2008, fueled primarily by large enterprise and MSSP adoption of its FortiGate network security appliances. For nine consecutive quarters, Fortinet continues to lead the UTM market ahead of Check Point, Cisco, Crossbeam, Juniper and SonicWALL.

Data in the latest IDC Worldwide Quarterly Security Appliance Tracker, June 2008 confirmed:

##Fortinet is the overall leader in UTM factory revenue for Q1 2008, ahead of Check Point, Cisco, Crossbeam, Juniper and SonicWALL
##Fortinet is the No. 1 vendor in the high-end UTM ($50K-$99.9K) price band for both factory revenue and units shipped
##Fortinet is the No. 1 vendor in the enterprise UTM (25K-$49.9K) price band segments for both factory revenue and units shipped
##Fortinet is the overall leader in UTM factory revenue for Western Europe and Asia Pacific for Q1 2008

“As evidenced by IDC’s latest numbers, Fortinet has remained at the forefront of the network security market – holding our UTM factory revenue lead for more than two years and continuing to strengthen our position as one of the largest network security appliance vendors worldwide,” said Ken Xie, president, founder and CEO of Fortinet. “Fortinet’s leadership has consistently been fueled by large enterprises that require a new generation security gateway for real-time protection of their networks and content, as well as MSSPs and carriers who want to offer truly integrated security services to their customers.”

According to IDC, UTM security appliance products include multiple security features integrated into one device. To be included in this category, as opposed to other Threat Management appliance segments, UTM appliances must contain the ability to perform network firewalling, network intrusion detection and prevention, and gateway antivirus. All of the capabilities need not be utilized, but the functions must exist inherently in the appliance. In addition to the mandatory applications, UTM appliances may also host other security or networking features.

Delivered via its flagship family of FortiGate appliances, Fortinet provides a flexible platform that enables enterprises and service providers of all sizes to consolidate critical security technology and services to enhance network protection and reduce total cost of ownership. These ASIC-accelerated security appliances integrate essential security applications and services, including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam and traffic shaping.

All FortiGate systems are kept up-to-date by Fortinet's FortiGuard Network, which provides regular updates that help ensure protection against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic - around the clock and around the world.
