Second GC Asia Conference Successfully Opens With Attendees From More Than 20 countries

LEIPZIG, Germany, and SINGAPORE - September 18, 2008 – Today, the second GC Asia Conference (GCAC) opened, welcoming more than 70 speakers from over 20 countries. In more than 50 sessions and panels, the speakers will share their knowledge and discuss new ideas until September 19th. The first day was marked by keynotes from Michael de Plater (Ubisoft) and Peter Molyneux (Lionhead Studios). The conference is being held alongside the GC Asia exhibition, September 18 – 20, 2008, at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Center.

GC Asia was officially opened today by Seto Lok Yin, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Media Development Authority (MDA) and Wolfgang Marzin, president and CEO of the Leipzig Trade Fair.

"Our coming together here will give birth to new ideas and opportunities for cooperation; it will open up new business territories while connecting people of different cultures,” said Wolfgang Marzin, president and CEO of the Leipzig Trade Fair in his opening speech. “The GC Asia provides a platform to bring together business models of different nations and to build bridges in many directions.”

Jorg Zeissig, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe International (LMI) stated, "The motto of this year’s GCAC, “Inspire Yourself,” should animate the international games industry to share their knowledge and talent in order to develop the next generation of computer and video games. We are proud to have brought together top-notch speakers who will make this conference in Singapore a must-attend event for the entire Asia-Pacific region.”

Peter Molyneux gave one of the first keynotes entitled, “Creating Believable Game Worlds.” "It's fantastic to see the amount of development that's happening in Asia, and it's absolutely fascinating that it's a global industry that they're dealing with now. You're seeing more and more talent from all over the world come together - there's the US, there's Europe and there's Asia, and it will be fascinating to see what products the developers are creating."
