GC Asia Brings Global Games Industry To Singapore

SINGAPORE - September 18, 2008 - The highly-anticipated Games Convention Asia 2008 opened today, welcoming thousands of visitors from around the world to see the latest and greatest games, hardware and accessories. With tens of thousands of visitors expected over the next few days, the convention is also the place for several world premiere announcements and unveilings.

“Games Convention is a global phenomenon, first with the amazing success of our Leipzig event, and now with the show in its second year in Singapore,” said Jorg Zeissig, Managing Director of LMI Asia. “By giving the interactive entertainment industry a centralized opportunity to showcase the hottest games to an audience that is growing more rapidly than any other market in the world.”

With 88 exhibitors from 13 countries, Games Convention Asia will feature a number of major game launches including the launch of Electronic Arts’ new MMORG Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning™ (WAR) on September 18, with a redemption booth where gamers can pick-up their pre-ordered copies of WAR. There will also be Rock Band™ stage events on September 19-20, from 4pm to 8pm, in addition to game tournaments and demo’s running throughout the three days of Games Convention Asia. Other titles that will be showcased on the show floor include: FIFA 09, NBA Live 09, Mirror’s Edge™, Dead Space™, Spore™, Crysis Warhead® from, and a wide range of casual and family titles including LITTLEST PET SHOP™, Nerf N-Strike™ and MONOPOLY®.

Also expected to draw a large crowd during the three-day event, will be Maxsoft Online’s exhibition booth which will feature the latest game titles for Nintendo Wii, including Guitar Hero: World Tour; Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Warioland Shake It!, Shaun White Snowboarding and Dokapon Kingdom. For Nintendo DS, there will be special booths for Kirby Superstar Ultra, Disgaea and Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure and Theresia.

Other highlights including Cherry Credits launching a blockbuster MMO First Person Shooter Game from Korea, Black Shot. Games Factory Online from the Netherlands will showcase three AAA titles: Rummikub, Stratego and Hovorun. Malaysian iG-Interactive will showcase their game portal Meetoto.com and the highly successful MMORPG, Zheng Tu Online. New Era Online is set to unveil a couple of blockbuster titles from Ubisoft, including Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway and next-gen strategy game, Tom Clancy’s EndWar. Replay Interactive will have playable demos for Saints Row 2 and Warriors Orochi 2. Finally, showcasing their self-developed game, Fantasy College is Run Up Games, who will also preview two soon-to-be-released MMO titles: Wx Online and R2Beat.
