Centre located in MSC status hub serves more than 50 English-speaking nations
This morning Getronics officially launched its new Global Service Centre (GSC) based inKuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The centre is located at Plaza Sentral in the MSC Malaysiaarea. The opening marks an important stage in Getronics continuing drive for innovationin service delivery to its clients around the world.
Getronics Global Service Centres provides to clients a single point of contact forICT remote services and support. The centre situated here in Kuala Lumpur is the onlyoffshore centre managed by Getronics in Asia, and is responsible for the delivery ofremote managed service 24/7 around the world. In a speech at the official launch ceremony, Vice President of Getronics Global ServiceCentres, Mr. Martin Gilday said “The Malaysia GSC, here in Kuala Lumpur is a keylocation in that network and will provide nearshore services to the Getronics, Asia PacificJapan region of the world and offshore services for the EMEA region and also theAmericas region. The other primary Global Service Centres are Beek in southernNetherlands, providing onshore Dutch language services, Glasgow in the UnitedKingdom servicing onshore English language customers, Budapest in Hungary providingnearshore services for all of the European languages.”
Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) lauds such a move, as Malaysia is fastbecoming a global hub and preferred base for ICT and multimedia innovations, services,and operations, evidential from many global and even large local corporations makingthis country a first and natural choice.
Multinational corporations such as Getronics are helping to create business andemployment opportunities, plus equipping Malaysians in technological expertise in themidst of the current challenging economy in the region and globally.
“The selection of Kuala Lumpur as the preferred location for the GSC reflects ourcommitment to Malaysia. The excellent core infrastructure and availability of talents hereare key deciding factors.” said Jahangir Naina, Managing Director Getronics AsiaRegion. Getronics will be investing heavily in the expansion of this centre, he added.
From the current staff strength of 140 personnel, this is projected to double by end 2009.Getronics also announced that by mid-2010, they anticipate the rise in their staff strengthto 500 to serve more than 50 English-speaking countries worldwide.
In attendance at the lauch were Getronics clients from both Malaysia and Singapore,partners and employees as well as the Chairman of PIKOM, Mr. David Wong Nan Fayand MDEC Vice President of Industry Development Division, Encik Saifol Bahri binMohamad Shamlan who was the guest-of-honour.
