Kuala Lumpur, 11 February 2009 – Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad (STMB) today announced its RM12 million contract with Hewlett-Packard (HP), which will see HP provide IT infrastructure operation management services to STMB.
This move is part of STMB’s strategy to establish itself as the country’s leading takaful operator and a key player in the local insurance scene. Through this 3-year contract, STMB aims to enhance service deliveries and ensure faster go-to-market capabilities. The contract will also enable STMB to focus on its core competency of delivering insurance services to exceed customer expectations and ultimately further improve business productivity and efficiency.

In line with its business strategy to increase customer satisfaction and deliver consistent and excellent customer experience, this IT services contract seeks to effectively manage STMB’s IT Infrastructure operations. This includes its helpdesk and desktop management and network and server management. The deal will also involve multi-vendor management for STMB which will help reduce its operating costs.
According to Dato Hassan, Group Managing Director of STMB, “being the oldest Takaful player in the country, STMB places importance in enhancing its IT infrastructure and system to facilitate management and marketing of its growing range of products as well as increasing product development efficiency. Through our IT infrastructure and quality IT solutions, we intend to increase efficiency, quality of service delivery and enhance responsiveness to customers’ needs, to enable further expansion of our market share.”
Dato Hassan further added that the RM12 million investment intends to capitalise on HP’s expertise in managing IT infrastructure. This will enable STMB to align their IT cost with actual usage, enhance service levels to STMB’s business and improve utilisation of computing resources.
