NCR introduces two new SelfServ ATMs with intelligent cash deposit and recycling capabilities in Malaysia

NCR SelfServ 31 and SelfServ 36 maximize deposit and recycling capacity and help financial institutions rollout new revenue generating services

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced the addition of two new automatic teller machines (ATMs) to its SelfServ family in Malaysia. With dedicated intelligent cash deposit and recycling functionality, the NCR SelfServ 31 and SelfServ 36 help financial institutions reduce operating costs, improve customer service and increase cross-sell ratios.

Through a higher note capacity, the new NCR SelfServ ATMs minimize cash-in-transit visits. The new SelfServ ATMs offer a diverse range of intelligent cash deposit and recycling options, including deposit and validation of up to 200 new notes per transaction, multi-currency deposit, and up to four dispense/recycle cassettes with a total capacity of up to 16,400 new notes -- thereby ensuring higher availability at all times.

With compact footprint and slim line interfaces, these machines enable one of the highest deposit and recycling capacity per square foot for exterior or through-the-wall installations and are designed to deal with extreme weather experienced in Asia. Besides intelligent cash deposit and recycling, NCR SelfServ 31 and SelfServ 36 allow an array of revenue generation opportunities for banks such as bill payments, funds transfer and remittance, mobile phone top-up, and couponing.

“While the SelfServ 31 and 36 ATMs have a slim and compact form factor, they are specially designed to financial institutions’ immediate and future needs. The SelfServ ATMs address the space limitation and medium- to high-transaction volumes commonly found in the urban landscapes in Asia-Pacific, but they also give financial institutions flexibility to differentiate their self-service strategies in the future through add-on features such as contactless card readers and biometrics – once the financial institution is ready to implement new technology,” said Stuart Buttar, NCR managing director for Southeast Asia.

As part of the NCR SelfServ family of next-generation ATMs, NCR SelfServ 36 and SelfServ 31 are equipped with “self-healing” technology to automatically recover from software failures and downtime without intervention, cutting down recovery time previously ranging from three to four hours to 10 to 15 minutes. Built for enhanced availability, both models feature intuitive graphic operator panels with simple lead-through and service access from the front, rear and side to simplify routine maintenance tasks and maximize up-time Firmware updates and software upgrades can also be downloaded to the ATM automatically.

Both the through-the-wall NCR SelfServ 36 and the lobby SelfServ 31 utilize LED lighting, 25 percent less cabling and NCR’s patented 2ST™ printers to minimize power consumption, carbon footprint and paper waste, helping financial institutions to address sustainability and reduce environmental impact.
