HP Imaging & Printing Group Stakes New Territories in Traditional Printing and Beyond

From emerging region to growth engine; Asia Pacific drives double digit growth in Imaging and Printing

SHANGHAI, China, September 8, 2011 – Today HP held its annual global Imaging and Printing Conference and announced several new innovations, collaborations, apps and solutions from consumer and small-to-medium business (SMB), up to enterprise and graphics customer segments. The company shared how innovation is at the core of the 26 billion dollar(1) imaging and printing business; including Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) where it is already driving double digit revenue growth.

HP also announced that customer adoption of HP’s cloud-enabled, web-connected print technologies has reached the mainstream, with more than 10 million printers sold globally. As printing moves beyond the page, the company outlined key innovation and strategy that will deliver meaningful impact for customers across consumers and business segments in this rapidly evolving environment. These included:-

o Tools for SMBs to manage print content efficiently and effectively

o Innovation for Impact in key segments in APJ - Education

Cloud-led and Web connected innovation for consumers and businesses

1. More than 10 million web-connected printers shipped worldwide; extends portfolio

More than 10 million web-connected printers, with first-in-industry mobile solutions and content services empower users to stay connected and productive on the go. This year, web-connected printers will be made available from US$79, (2) enabling consumers and businesses to access 1st-in-industry mobile solutions and content services to stay connected and productive on the go. The compact and stylish HP ENVY110 e-All-in-One printer, which adds cutting-edge design to web-connected printing, is now available in 12 markets across Asia Pacific.

2. 1st in the industry to introduce cutting-edge mobile solutions; making the mobile print experience seamless

HP announced new mobile solutions so that customers can stay focused on the tasks at hand – whether they’re at home, at work, or simply on-the-go. HP’s mobile solutions allow people to bring print into their digital lives no matter where they are.

- For SMBs, HP delivers an industry first solution with ePrint Wireless Direct printing, allowing users to connect directly to support HP printers without the need for network or internet connection; simply walk up and connect to the printer from any wi-fi enabled mobile device with a simple peer to peer connection.

- The new HP ePrint Home & Biz app unifies the ePrint experience with a free mobile app for Apple iOS, Android or Symbian smartphones and tablets, making it easy for customers to print the documents and photos they need and want.

- The new HP Printer Control mobile app for Apple iOS devices delivers wireless access and control of your printer through a robust mobile printing experience. Turbo charge printing with innovative scan and social sharing services. Customers can scan photos and documents to Facebook, Google Docs and scan to email – from their mobile device. They can also monitor printer & supplies status.

- For the enterprise, HP is announcing another mobile printing innovation first – the HP ePrint app for BlackBerry smartphones: cloud-unified experience. Now users can print from virtually anywhere – including HP ePrint-enabled printers, enterprise-networked printers and public print locations – with one cloud-unified HP ePrint app for BlackBerry smartphones.

3. 10 new print apps to help consumers and businesses to leverage digital content explosion to enhance their work and lives

- The new print apps for home-users will provide local educational content from Anyschool (Korea), Magic Hanja (Korea), Modern Educational Research Society, Ltd. (Hong Kong) and Sesame Street (China). Users in China can also look forward to recipes from Meishi China and printables for families and gifts from HP Go Family China print app.

- New Business Apps include Biz Card Scanning App and Receipt Scanning App, both by Shoeboxed, for the scanning and organizing of business cards and business receipts, as well as new apps from GoogleDocs and Box.net, allowing SMB and micro businesses to focus on business impact.

Today, about 100 print apps are available in Asia Pacific region, with a quarter offering relevant local content that matters to our users. HP reiterated that robust collaborations with local content providers is integral to the strategy.


Products and tools for SMBs to manage print content efficiently and effectively including 3-D Scanning

For micro and small businesses, the increased need for the best tools to market and operate business is amplified by SMB growth. HP’s innovations are helping micro and small businesses keep pace with the speed of customers:

1. A revolutionary new way to capture images of 3-D objects and scan documents, the HP TopShot LaserJet Pro M275(3) is an affordable, ideal desktop companion for small or home offices. It is equipped with HP TopShot Scanning, a revolutionary technology that captures six separate images of a document or a 3-D object and produces one final seamless image of exceptional quality. With HP TopShot Scanning technology, SMBs can quickly produce high-quality images for immediate use in printed materials or on the web.

2. In addition, three new LaserJets and a new ScanJet was launched for businesses of any size that elevate printers and scanners from reliable office devices to transformative business tools in the areas of mobility and workflow.

- HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw – HP’s smallest ePrint-enabled color multifunction laser printer, which comes power-packed with energy saving and mobility innovations. The HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw is available from an estimated US street price of US$349. (2)

- HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M601, M602 and M603 printer series – a secure, easy-to-use web-enabled monochrome printer series engineered to help businesses increase efficiency and improve document workflow. The HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M601 Series will be available from November 2011 at an estimated US street price of US$699. The HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M602 Series will be available from an estimated US street price of US$899. The HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603 Series will be available from an estimated US street price of US$1399. (2)

- HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551 series – an ePrint enabled printer ideal for enterprise and small-business work teams who want professional-quality color and document management tools. The HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551 series is available from an estimated US street price of US$649. (2)

- HP Scanjet Enterprise 8500fn1 Document Capture Workstation – a scanner optimized for workgroups with high-volume scanning needs, featuring an easy-to-use large color touchscreen. Available for purchase in all Asia Pacific markets excluding Japan starting from November 2011 at an estimated US street price of US$3199. (2)

3. Ink in the office - The new HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One printer and HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter deliver professional color documents for up to 50 percent lower cost per page than lasers(4) and print virtually anywhere from mobile devices with HP ePrint.(5) Enhanced with new inks, which resist highlighter-pen smearing, two-sided borderless printing and cloud solutions that help your business to grow beyond the page. 4. HP is also taking proven enterprise-level technologies and right-sizing those service capabilities for SMBs. With the recent acquisition of Printelligent, a leader in Managed Print Services (MPS), HP is rolling out HP Partner Managed Print Services, the first of several channel-enabled MPS offerings that HP will launch over the next year. In addition, HP is adding several HP Document Solutions (HP Access Control Express, Nuance eCopy ShareScan, ePrint for enterprise and EcoSmart to our portfolio for our solutions specialist channel to sell.

Building on the momentum of HP Managed Print Services and demonstrating another strategic move to simplify complex office processes and improve how enterprise customers work, HP is introducing new and enhanced solutions and services offerings.

- HP Access Control Express, with HP Access Control Mobile Release, is a bundled solution of simple, effective tools that help slash print costs and keep data secure, while increasing user confidence and productivity.

- And, the HP Solution Business Partner Program shows momentum with significant announcements from Hyland, Jetmobile.

o Hyland joins the HP SBP program as a Platinum partner. HP will be selling Hyland’s solution OnBase, a comprehensive enterprise content management suite. The two companies will streamline processes by capturing electronic and paper-based documents, integrating that information into front- or back-end business applications, automating workflows and enabling instant access to data stored in OnBase’s secure and centrally managed repository.

o Jetmobile’s Securejet Express allows companies to control the security of HP Multifunction Printers by limiting access control for any MFPs function and prevent costly mistakes of forgetting to collect print jobs and taking the wrong print jobs.
