Belkin Introduces All-New Range of High Performance Routers

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 21 Oct 2011 – Belkin today unveiled their latest range of high-performance wireless routers built to enhance user’s surfing, streaming and online gaming experience. Designed specifically for today’s always-connected home users, this versatile range of wireless networking solutions comprise of the Belkin N300, N600 DB and N750 DB routers, as well as wireless USB adapters.

Now in 2011, Belkin brings an evolution to that concept, with a new antenna technology called MultiBeam, which improves upon the performance of MIMO systems by increasing the router’s wireless coverage to achieve higher and more consistent network speed whilst eliminating the occurrences of wireless dead spots.

The router chassis for the entire range of Belkin routers is designed specifically to support the new MultiBeam antennas and maximise the MIMO sphere and absolute coverage distance. Whereas traditional routers tend to provide a donut-shaped coverage pattern – flat and wide – the new Belkin routers orient and polarise the internal MultiBeam antennas to provide improved coverage in all directions.

Something for Everyone
Each of the routers offers something different to fit a variety of users and their individual lifestyles. The routers include the proprietary MultiBeam antennas, from two in the N300 to five in the N750. Most of the routers also include high powered amplifiers to boost the wireless signal even further.

The Belkin N300 wireless router represents a solid introduction to the Belkin new range of routers featuring MultiBeam technology and a connection speed of up to 300Mbps. This makes this model ideal for general wireless Internet sharing and home office productivity, enabling seamless browsing and media streaming for multiple devices from anywhere in your home.

Home users who require higher capacity bandwidth can opt for the higher spec Belkin N600 DB wireless dual-band router, which boasts Belkin’s proprietary MultiBeam technology, dual-band speed of up to 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) and 300 Mbps (5 GHz), a USB port and 4 Ethernet LAN ports for wired network connections; all the features necessary as a home entertainment gateway for uninterrupted video streaming or online gaming.

The flagship model N750 DB comes replete with MultiBeam technology, dual-band speed of up to 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) and 450Mbps (5 GHz), 2 USB ports for wireless printing and storage, and 4 Gigabit ports for ultra-fast file sharing. The N750 also has a technology called implicit beam forming, whereby the energy of the radio signal is focused toward the devices on the network instead of radiating in all directions.

Additionally the Belkin N750 DB also features a Hardware-based Network Address Translation that is implemented in the core chipsets to enable lightning-fast NAT speeds (up to 900+ Mbps) and the ability to route at these speeds – without compromising the performance of the rest of your home network. In independent testing, The Tolly Group, a leading independent IT testing organisation, found that Belkin's N300, and N600 DB together averaged a 68 percent performance improvement across all tested products, while the flagship N750 DB tested concurrent Wi-Fi and WAN speeds of up to 900Mbps.

The N300, and N600 DB routers were also tested for speed at distance and test results show that Belkin routers have a significant advantage at maintaining higher network speeds over greater distances in the home. Competitors' routers begin to lose signal strength more rapidly after 30 feet, but Belkin routers across the board managed to maintain higher speeds even at distances greater than 60 feet, which in a home environment means you get better Wi-Fi coverage even multiple rooms away from the router's location.

For the top-of-the-range N750 DB router, The Tolly Group focused on processing power and the ability to maintain network performance while running multiple high-bandwidth applications. A test using simultaneous bidirectional throughput of the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with WAN port download traffic in a single location at 15 feet showed concurrent Wi-Fi and WAN speeds topping twice that of other major brands at more than 900Mbps and network download speeds at almost double the competition. For consumers, this translates to more consistent network speeds and the ability to download and stream content without sacrificing the speed or quality of either activity.
