Canon Introduces High-Performance Portable Scanner with Built-In Card Scanning Features

Malaysia, 14 November 2011 – Canon today introduced the compact high-performance imageFORMULA P-215 portable scanner. Ideal for the mobile workforce in industries such as the healthcare and financial sectors, the P-125 delivers greater convenience and efficiency to users with its built-in card scanner, intelligent document processing functions and expanded scan-to-Cloud capabilities. Compatible with Windows and Mac OS, the new scanner is also suitable for individuals working in hybrid OS environments.

Measuring 285 x 95 x 40 mm and weighing a mere kilogram, the P-215 is one of the most compact A4-size document scanners in the market. The high-performance scanner reduces downtime with speedy one-pass duplex scanning of up to 15 pages per minute (ppm)/30 images per minute (ipm) via a 20-sheet automatic document feeder. It also produces high-quality documents of up to 600 dpi resolution in black-and-white, grayscale and full-color.

The P-215 also boasts hassle-free plug-and-scan capabilities and does not require any driver or application installation on both Windows and Mac OS. The device draws power from a single USB cable, reducing the clutter of multiple cables and accessories.

Greater Flexibility and Convenience for the Mobile Workforce
Mobile workers are able to seamlessly integrate digital and paper documents workflows on the go with the P-215’s added scan-to-Cloud capabilities, which has been expanded to include Google Docs, Microsoft SharePoint and Evernote.

Incorporating a built-in card scanner, the P-215 brings additional convenience for ID authentication processes required in the day-to-day operations of professionals in the healthcare, financial and telecommunications industries as well.

With a front-facing card slot on the P-215, users can simply insert plastic- or paper-based cards for easy scanning. Embossed details on cards such as identity cards and credit cards are easily read by the intelligent card scanner thereby reducing room for human errors while increasing productivity and accuracy for information sharing and access. Using the bundled Presto! BizCard software, important contact information on business cards can also be efficiently converted and organised into a searchable database.

Intelligent Document Processing with CaptureOnTouch
Accurate, high-quality scans are easily achieved with the device’s CaptureOnTouch Full Auto Mode, where optimum scan settings are automatically selected based on the type of document.
The Full Auto Mode automatically detects document size and the corresponding scanning resolution, skips blank pages, straightens images scanned at an angle, determines whether to save images in color and rotates images to the correct text orientation.

The dedicated CaptureOnTouch software suite also offer users a broad selection of output methods, including scanning to printers, email and to bundled application software such as PaperPort and Presto! PageManager – file and document management solutions for Windows and Mac OS.
