Motorola Solutions Foundation contributes to Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation

Motorola Solutions committed to add value to the communities in which it operates

Kuala Lumpur – November 30, 2011 - Motorola Solutions Foundation (formerly the Motorola Foundation), the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MSI), has extended a contribution of RM175,000 to the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) to support its crime prevention initiatives in the country.

The MCPF is a Non-Government Organisation which has been established since 1993 to promote public awareness in crime prevention at all times, in addition to getting public participation in crime prevention efforts of the Government and other interested parties.

Key Facts
• Motorola Solutions Foundation’s contribution will be channeled to support MCPF’s pilot programme called the “Voluntary Security Observation Point Programme”. Initiatives under this programme includes promoting volunteerism among residents within residential neighbourhoods, cultivating a crime prevention culture among the residents and establishing an effective communication mechanism among the residents to support them in their crime prevention efforts. The programme aims to create a safe living environment and prevent crimes in the neighbourhood.

• In Malaysia, the Motorola Solutions Foundation has been a strong supporter of corporate citizenship programmes. Over the years it has contributed to education grants and programmes aimed at encouraging and promoting technology innovation, widening industry exposure for students in Malaysia while continuously nurturing the next generation of local talents in science, technology, innovation and engineering.

• This year, education grants were provided to support 16 post graduate students from four local Malaysian universities - Multimedia University, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

• Since 2008, the Foundation has sponsored Malaysia’s National Research Innovation Competition (NRIC) organised by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), which recognizes the best science projects by undergraduate students nationwide.

• Motorola Solutions has established its presence in Malaysia since 1974. Recognised for its R&D innovations, Motorola Solutions Malaysia has also contributed to the Government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) initiatives as follows :

• It is one of 6 MNCs selected to share learnings used to enrich ETP focused on the electronics sector, such as expanding the wireless communication ecosystem and in the area of RFID.
• Motorola Solutions is an active contributor to the nation’s growth through the Collaborative Research in Engineering Science & Technology (CREST) initiative - an important component of ETP - designed to accelerate the development of Malaysia into an innovation-led knowledge based economy.

• As a participating host company, Motorola Solutions Malaysia provides invaluable opportunities to selected engineering graduates to experience industrial immersion under the FasTrack program of the National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs) for Electronics and Electrical sector of the ETP.

• Motorola Solutions showcased advanced and specialized video-rich applications, next generation public safety technologies and devices at the Global Police Equipment Conference (GPEC) Asia 2011.
