Groupon puts smiles on the children of HOPE Worldwide

40 children from HOPE Worldwide experience the underwater world of Aquaria KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 April 2012 – 30 volunteers from Groupon Malaysia were paired up with 40 children from HOPE Worldwide for a fun day out at Aquaria KLCC, where they enjoyed close encounters with some of the most amazing aquatic creatures in the world.

“It has always been our mission at Groupon to enable people to enjoy amazing life experiences and today we look forward to bringing excitement to the children of HOPE Worldwide,” said Anisha Sasheentaran, Chief Talent Officer of Groupon Malaysia. To provide the children with an extra amount of fun, Groupon went a step further by preparing a special discovery hunt challenge in Aquaria KLCC, where children were given riddles to enhance their learning experiences on aquatic animals. The children were amazed and thrilled by the 90 meter underwater tunnel walkway below the city center which helped them to learn more about the world’s most fascinating sea creatures.

“The children were enthusiastic during the discovery hunt and were impressed by the magic performance put on by one of the Groupon staff. We are grateful when organisations like Groupon come forward to assist us in providing joyful moments for these children. The children enjoyed a day of fun and happiness, and I believe memories made today would definitely be cherished for years to come,” said Katy Lee, Executive Director of Hope Worldwide Malaysia.
“Our little partners from Hope Worldwide were asked to call us ‘teacher’ as our mission for the day was to teach them about aquatic creatures. At the end of the day, the table turned as these children were the ones who taught and reminded us of the bigger lessons in life, which is appreciation of life through their positive attitude and genuine love through their interaction with us. Spending our weekend with these children was worthwhile and we are eager to do more of such activities moving forward,” Anisha added.Hope Worldwide is an international, non-profit and non-religious organization which seeks to provide assistance to children in need from around the world. Originally starting out with 3 programs in 1991 Hope Worldwide now operates 150 support programmes spanning a hundred countries worldwide.
