Samsung Super Match and appearance of former professional gamer got visitors crowding the Samsung exhibition booth
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 11 September 2012– Samsung Malaysia Electronics, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, made its presence felt at the recent World Cyber Games (WCG) Asian Championship 2012 and Digital Lifestyle Expo (DLE) – organised by the National ICT Association Of Malaysia (PIKOM), through a string of exciting activities for Samsung fans and consumers.
Adding to the thrilling experience of the WCG Asian Championship 2012, Samsung organised the Samsung Super Match, which featured four Samsung fans with the highest votes collected from an online recruitment activity. The Super Match also included four pre-determined gamers showcasing their gaming skills and talents through rounds of gaming tournaments, which was played on the new Samsung Notebook Series 7 GAMER.
After multiple rounds of intensive battles in a notable first-person and third person shooting game, Fadli Khalid emerged as the tournament champion, beating Tony Teh in the Samsung Super Match Finals and walking away with a brand new Samsung Notebook Series 7 GAMER. Tony was also awarded a Samsung Notebook Series 5 ULTRA for his exceptional gaming skills during the final tournament.
Being the worldwide sponsor of the WCG 2012, this year marks the 12th consecutive collaboration between Samsung and the world’s largest e-sports tournament since it was inaugurated in 2000. Apart from furnishing the tournaments with state-of-the-art Samsung LED monitors and the Samsung Notebook Series 7 GAMER – the official notebook for the FIFA12 tournament – Samsung views the WCG as a healthy platform for youths to cultivate great sportsmanship and showcase their gaming talents.
“The World Cyber Games serves as the perfect avenue for Samsung to connect with WCG players and fans, who are not only at the forefront of IT trends, but early adaptors of the newest technologies in the market. This enable us to better understand consumers’ needs, preferences and the latest trends in the industry, which are crucial in developing innovative products that serve the market demands,” said Wong Man Ngee, Head of IT Solutions Business, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

The presence of Ashley Khoo, entrepreneur, blogger and former professional gamer, brought cheers and excitement to the Samsung booth. Apart from starting the Samsung Super Match, Ashley also played a friendly match with one of the finalists of the Super Match demonstrating the panache and skills she has become famous for.
“I am glad to be invited to start the Samsung Super Match and to be part of the friendly match. I haven’t been playing for quite some time and this brought back great memories. I also had the chance to test the Samsung Notebook Series 7 GAMER and the features are pretty amazing. If I were to look for an alternative for my desktop for gaming, I would look into the new Samsung Series 7 GAMER,” said Ashley.
