PC range from Sony showcases touchscreen support in Windows 8, introducing new style and experience; “there’s more to the touch”

Kuala Lumpur, 24 October 2012 – The new VAIO line-up from Sony puts touch right at the heart of your personal computing experience. Sony redefines the portable PC experience today with the new VAIO™ Duo 11: a high-performance, hybrid Ultrabook™ with a sliding LCD display that switches effortlessly between slate and keyboard mode; the smart VAIO E Series 14P and premium VAIO T Series 13 both with the new Touch feature. Another enhanced edition of
VAIO S Series was also showcased at the launch.

Alongside stylish notebooks, there’s an innovative slider hybrid, and an elegant Ultrabook. Showcasing the power of Windows® 8, these brand new VAIO models make work and play beautifully intuitive – whether you’re relaxing at home or on the move.

VAIO™ Duo 11 – The perfect Window® 8, Touch-enabled Ultrabook™
Approximately 1.3kg and 17.85mm thin, VAIO™ Duo 11 transforms instantly between a power-packed Ultrabook PC and a handy tablet. Write, sketch and interact with media and applications on the bright, detail-packed 29.4cm (11.6”) Full HD touchscreen. A unique pressure-sensitive digitiser stylus gives the satisfyingly expressive feel of natural handwriting. In the office, slide up the LCD display revealing the backlit keyboard and maximise your productivity with a fully-featured PC powered by latest-generation Intel® Core™ processors.

VAIO T Series
Touch and elegance meet beautifully in new touch-enabled VAIO T Series 13.3” model that features premium material like magnesium and aluminium. These Ultrabooks team a responsive touchscreen with the latest-generation Intel® Core™ i5 processors and speedy hybrid HDD/SSD storage. Work and entertain easily and intuitively: scroll effortlessly through web pages, navigate documents and explore your media collection on the 13.3” screen on the VAIO T13 respectively – all enhanced by the supple touch experience of Windows 8. Be even more efficient with Rapid Wake + Eco: simply open the notebook lid and you’re up and running in seconds.

VAIO E Series
Touch comes to smart, easy-to-use VAIO E Series 14P. Enjoy games, applications and your media collection on the impressive 14” touchscreens: there’s no bezel around the full flush screen, enhancing its premium looks. With the latest Intel® Core™ i5 processors, generous storage and smooth graphics, there’s all the power you need to breeze through the day. Signature styling features a soft-edged ‘wraparound’ design in silver, with distinctive purple accents and a diamond-cut VAIO logo on the aluminium display lid.

Further unleash your personality with the VAIO E Series 11”, 14” and 15”. Equipped with the powerful  3rd generation Intel® Core™ i5 or i7 processors and AMD Radeon™ processor, the VAIO E series is an ideal lifestyle fit. As with the other VAIO series, the VAIO E series is also feature-packed to enhance your lifestyle with various Sony-proprietary technologies such as “xLoud” and “Clear Phase” which help to boost sound quality. Another unique feature is the gesture control function which allows for even greater interaction with your notebook, just by simple hand gestures. Topping it all off is the built-in HD web camera powered by ‘Exmor for PC’ that lets you enjoy clearer and crisper video chats with your loved ones.

VAIO S Series
With a perfect balance of mobility and performance, the new VAIO S series models come with the latest technologies – 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i5 or i7 Processor, as well as a Dynamic Hybrid Graphics System that uses two graphic processors to best suit the application being run. Available in 13.3”, this full featured, high performance PC weighs as light as 1.69kg and a carbon lid full flat body that measures as slim as 22.8mm. It has up to 5.5 hours of battery life on a full charge (depending on the model); an optional extended battery is also available to extend the battery life by up to 11 hours. The VAIO S series 13.3” model now comes in a new refreshing colour – red, other than the black, pink and white.

The new family of VAIO PCs from Sony will be available from all Sony stores and authorised dealers from November 2012.
