The CFC960 controller card offers an impressive 960Gbps of switching capacity, delivering throughput of 1.92Tbps per chassis. Dual CFC960 controller cards deliver 160Gbps, per line card slot, doubling the throughput of the existing Allied Telesis CFC400 controller card. In addition, the CFC960 unlocks new features such as Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) Lite, and Virtual Chassis Stacking (VCStack™) Plus, which allows two chassis to be stacked to form a virtual switch for increased reliability and reduced management overhead. These new features are ideal for large-scale enterprise and hosting environments.

The CFC960 also supports Allied Telesis Management Framework™ (AMF), a tool for simplifying network management and reducing everyday network operating costs. Networking the Stadium

Allied Telesis Partners with Panasonic to Provide the ICT Infrastructure for Mato Grosso Special Secretariat (SECOPA)

SÃO PAULO, Brazil and SAN JOSE, Calif. – April 23, 2014 — Allied Telesis, an industry leader in the deployment and provision of IP Triple Play networks and networking infrastructures, announces its partnership with Panasonic in the creation of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure for the Arena Pantanal stadium, built for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá, in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, will be the venue for many of the 2014 World Cup soccer matches, which begins in June. The stadium’s capacity is approximately 43,000 people, and it has a flexible structure to adapt it to any future requirements. Locally, the new stadium is known as “O Verdão” (The Big Green), after the sustainable approach used for its construction and maintenance.

When completed, the infrastructure that was designed and provided by Allied Telesis and Panasonic will include telephony (IP and PABX), security CCTV (IP cameras), Internet access, digital signage, access control (RFID card readers and turnstiles), as well as additional functions such as sound systems, and will deliver a world-class “intelligent stadium” to the Mato Grosso Special Secretariat
(SECOPA).

Allied Telesis and Panasonic first began collaboration on the project in 2013. The main focus of the initial phase was on the Allied Telesis and Panasonic IP surveillance and IP PABX solutions. With the strong Allied Telesis reputation for designing and delivering high quality solutions, capable of successfully handling large volumes of multimedia traffic, and having a great deal of experience in this field, the partnership continued to develop. Allied Telesis solutions engineers were chosen by Panasonic to collaborate and contribute to the design and planning of firewall specifications, definitions of servers for the services and dimensions of the network, for the entire arena solution.

The international significance of the events that will take place in the venue requires very high availability of all services, as even minimal downtime during any match would not be acceptable. For this reason, Allied Telesis and Panasonic devoted significant resources to the design and engineering of the solution, and the successful integration of all parts of the system.

The completed project includes two data centers, located on either side of the stadium—each capable of independently supporting the entire traffic load of the stadium at its peak. These data centers link more than twenty operation rooms, located throughout the stadium, from which all operations can be integrated and controlled. The Allied Telesis network has been designed to be resilient and ensure full operation at all times, connecting all equipment and controls.

The synergy of the partnership between Allied Telesis and Panasonic will continue to offer benefits to the end user as the project moves through completion and commissioning, to subsequent use during the tournament itself. These benefits will include training for staff on the installation, project management consultancy, remote support, and on-site installation shadowing to ensure that knowledge and skills can be transferred to those who will operate the stadium on a day-to-day basis after handover.

Allied Telesis increases investment in Malaysia with new office

Global networking vendor launches new innovative VCF, AMF technologies to help businesses reduce operational, networking costs by up to 60%

KUALA LUMPUR, July 25th, 2013: Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet switching solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks, today announces the expansion of its office in Kuala Lumpur. The company also launches two innovative technologies, the Virtual Core Fabric (VCF) and Allied Management Framework (AMF), which will help enterprises reduce operational and networking costs by 60 per cent.

 “The investment Allied Telesis is making in Malaysia and our new office is a result of five-fold growth for the organisation in Malaysia over the last five years.  Allied Telesis has experienced sustained growth across the APAC region and countries like Malaysia, Thailand and Australia have been identified for further growth due to the strength of industry in each of these countries,” said Mr. Jaukb Duch, Asia Pacific Regional Director for Allied Telesis.

“We have invested over US$10M in the last 12 months and are looking at double digit growth in these countries,” Duch added.

The new office in Malaysia will feature dedicated areas for product and technology showcases and will enable the company to expand its client services and training services to be delivered to its customers and system integration partners.

The availability of VCF and AMF technologies will see Allied Telesis offering what customers would usually expect, simpler operations and management that improves productivity and lowers costs.

“One of the key challenges we see is the lack of technical expertise in the area of networking. Previously, product support is key, but as more systems migrate to IP (Internet Protocol), support has evolved to system and solution integration instead. Customers face the challenge of hiring or retaining technical staff. Hence, we develop our platforms to make it easier for our customers to manage their networks, “said Mr Scott Penno, Asia Pacific Regional Marketing Manager for Allied Telesis.

AMF is an innovative new technology that is a key component of Software Defined Networking (SDN) strategy. Software Defined Network or SDN is a concept that is generating a lot of interest right now and is the focus of attention for many technologists and executives from mid-size enterprises to large data centres.  SDN is intended to assist those deploying and managing networks to overcome a number of key challenges that have arisen due to the size, performance and flexibility requirements of today’s networks.

While SDN as a technology will meet these requirements, the cost and complexity of deployment of new hardware and software to deliver SDN may push this innovative technology beyond the reach of all but the largest of enterprise and data centre customers.

“Unlike SDN, which requires a software-based controller external to the network itself, Allied Telesis has embedded the controller functionality within the network simplifying the delivery of this new technology.  This enables the benefits of Software Defined Networking to be delivered without the cost, complexity and overhead that SDN brings,” Penno enthused.

In many cases, the cost of managing a network is a multiple of the capital cost of the hardware.  For this reason, many organisations are now focussing on technologies like SDN and AMF as a means of reducing operational costs associated with managing their networks.  An early adopter of this technology expects to reduce the ongoing cost of managing their network by 60% which should be compelling for any customer, he added.

“As one component of Allied Telesis’s Virtual Core Fabric or VCF, AMF is significant in that it delivers SDN-like technology to the mid-enterprise market where SDN is likely to be inaccessible,” Penno explained.

Allied Telesis foresees Government and Education sectors to contribute 60% of 2008 revenues

Appoints new Sales Manager to accelerate business growth in these sectors

Mohd Baki, 34 as the company’s new Sales Manager for the Government and Education sectors.

The 8000GS family supports guest VLANs so that visitors who physically connect to the network can be restricted to a predefined area, enabling them to have access to the Internet while on company premises but not to corporate servers. Fibre technology to be the next driver of growth for multimedia rich converged homes and businesses, says Allied Telesis


KUALA LUMPUR, 15th August, 2007 – Allied Telesis, one of the world’s leading companies in the networking industry foresees that fibre technology will soon be the next driver of growth for multimedia rich converged homes and businesses.

Speaking to journalists at an Executive Briefing entitled “Fibre– Bringing a Whole New Dimension to Broadband Applications” here today, Kelvin Chua, Deputy Director of Strategic Solution and IT Services, Asia Pacific at Allied Telesis, said the broadband landscape is fast changing due to the rapid increase of high bandwidth applications such as live video streaming, live webcast, online karaoke, online gaming and Podcast.

“Due to this demand, people and businesses require more bandwidth and they do not want to compromise on the quality of the multimedia files and the speed of which they can download these files.

“Many economies around the world have started looking at new technologies that can replace copper which has limited capacity in carrying high bandwidth applications. And one such technology that has proven to be able to meet these needs is fibre,” Chua explained.

Fibre technology has been experimented in economies where high quality broadband applications are seen, for example, in Japan and South Korea. In these countries, businesses have started to leverage on fibre technology to provide leading edge value added services that can generate revenue.

In Japan, as per Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications report in 2006, the number of broadband subscribers in that country has touched 25 million with fibre-to-the-home subscribers touching 7.15 million while the traditional digital subscriber line (DSL) subscription has begun to see a drop since June 2006 to only 14.4 million subscribers.

“In Malaysia, the potential for fibre technology is huge. With a broadband penetration rate of only 3.7 per cent per 100 habitants, we see a huge market here,” said Chua.

Moreover, high-speed broadband has recently been acknowledged by the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the recent National Broadband Implementation Plan meeting, as a technology that not only changes the way of doing business but also improve the public delivery system of Malaysia and serve as a catalyst for economic growth in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Malaysian government has hopes to have 50% of households with fast Internet access by the year 2010. The current broadband penetration rate is 12% for households.

Allied Telesis Set to Gain Stronger Foothold in Government and Education


KUALA LUMPUR, 21 June, 2007 – Allied Telesis, the global IP networking solutions vendor, is set to gain stronger foothold in the government and education sectors in Malaysia with the appointment of Mohd Nazarudin Jaafar as its new Sales Manager, focusing on the government and education customers.

Mohd Nazarudin will be responsible for developing new leads in the two targeted sectors, while maintaining existing cooperation. He will also work closely with Allied Telesis’ channel partners to provide network solutions to end-users in the government and education sectors.

The new sales manager brings with him more than 16 years of experience working in the government and telco IT projects. Prior to joining Allied Telesis, Mohd Nazarudin was the Sales Manager for Hitachi Data Systems where he secured contracts worth over RM15 million.

Malaysia has announced its ambition to become an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)-enabled country by 2010, in time for the estimated expiry of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4), where the first stage of the plan involves having sector migration that will start with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) by end of 2006 and government agencies by 2008. It has also set a goal to increase its broadband penetration rate to 30% - 40% by the year 2008.

With the impending increase in broadband usage and additional bandwidth, applications such as IP Surveillance, Video on Demand, Distant Learning, Triple Play will soon become a reality in Malaysia.

“In turn, as newer applications emerge, government agencies, enterprises and institutions of higher learning will need to migrate to Gigabit Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks.
