Kuala Lumpur, August 20, 2007 – Intel Malaysia recently celebrated its 1st Anniversary of the launch of the Intel® Core™ microarchitecture featured in today’s Intel® Core™ 2 Duo, Intel® Core™ 2 Quad and multi-core Intel® Xeon™ processors, by hosting a party to view the No. 1 hit animated-comedy movie Ratatouille with media and its top resellers.
The movie was created and rendered using quad core Intel® Xeon™ processors introduced in late 2006. The quad core Intel processors are especially suitable for demanding multi-tasking environments as well as making the most of highly threaded applications. Intel has already sold over one million quad core Xeon processors with clear performance and volume leadership in the server market, while its Core 2 Quad-based desktops and notebook processors are seeing fast adoption in the mainstream market
The Intel Core microarchitecture first appeared in the high successful family of Intel Core 2 Duo processors offering revolutionary energy-efficiency and performance. These processors were first introduced in June 2006 providing a major leap forward in powerful energy-efficient performance, allowing maximum multi-tasking capability and providing users with a major boost in performance. Trends indicate that those who purchase PCs use them for social-networking, digital content creation and sharing, downloading music, on-line gaming and blogging.[1]
“The average Malaysian consumer knows exactly which brand they want to invest in when they are looking for a PC that has great computing performance, provides uncompromised processing speed and supports a multi-tasking environment,” said Simon Chan, National Sales Manager, sales and marketing, Intel Malaysia.”
“That is why there was a high demand for Intel Core 2 Duo processor-based PCs at the recent PC Fair. Priced at RM 1,599 or more, it is extremely affordable now to own a high performance Intel Core 2 Duo system that will allow you to redefine your whole computing experience and take it to new levels of performance,” said Chan.
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor
In the late 2006, Intel became the first microprocessor manufacturer to introduce quad core processor families to the computer industry. In the past one year, Intel has launched over 15 Quad Core processors and it has surpassed one million Quad Core Xeon processors with clear performance and volume leadership in the server market, while Intel Core 2 Quad processor for desktops is seeing fast adoption with gaming, home entertainment, business enterprises, healthcare, and animation industries.
“With further price reduction in quad-core Intel processors, buyers can now expect better performance and faster system response from their desktop PCs to do new and amazing things with rich multimedia and high definition video content.” Chan said.
Intel Helps Disney-Pixar Cook up a Blockbuster With 'Ratatouille'
On occasion of the 1st Anniversary of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Intel revealed its cooperation with Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios on the No. 1 hit animated-comedy Ratatouille, which was launched in theatres across the country on August 16.
“Ratatouille" follows the adventures of a rat named Remy, who dreams of becoming a master chef in the culinary capital of Paris and boasts key breakthroughs in animation. The technology used to create and render the movie, Intel Xeon processors based on Intel Core microarchitecture, helped build the emotional and visual excitement by delivering an experience packed with advances in computer graphics technology including ultra-realistic water scenes with river rapids, lifelike bubbles and book pages that literally "wilt" when turning the wet paper.
