Juniper Networks Expands High-Performance Routing, Security and Network Management Offerings to Provide Secure Branch Office Connectivity
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 27 August, 2007 – Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today extended its networking infrastructure offerings with the addition of the J2320 and J2350 J-series services routers, Secure Services Gateway 320M (SSG 320M) and SSG 350M security platforms and two new network management appliances with the Juniper NetScreen-Security Manager (NSM) Central Manager and Juniper NSMXpress.
The addition of these new products underscores Juniper Networks' ongoing commitment to designing, developing and delivering best-in-class secure networking technologies for enterprise branch office deployments. The new J-series, SSG and NSM products will enable enterprises to accelerate the secure delivery of business critical applications across their networks and ensure that their information technology initiatives deliver business value.
As enterprises strive to enhance user productivity through the fast, reliable and secure delivery of business applications to branch offices they must also anticipate the escalating demands and risks along the way.
To be successful, enterprises must simultaneously empower a growing number of branch office users, successfully converge disparate legacy networks, proactively contain security risks, and deploy new business applications.
The new J-series services routers and SSG security platforms help businesses meet these demands and mitigate the risks at scale by simultaneously delivering security, reliability, and performance with services. With the addition of the NSMXpress and the NSM Central Manager, enterprises can scale the enforcement of global security policies with greater ease, efficiency and effectiveness.
“With the branch office market evolving and the demand for choice and flexibility increasing, enterprises struggle to provide a high-performance, secure, and reliable network to branch office users,” said Andrew Braunberg, Research Director, Enterprise Security and Software, Current Analysis. “In order to effectively secure their networks, administrators require visibility into emerging security threats and a simplified method of implementing, enforcing and measuring compliance to global security policies across their entire network and do so with a centralized network management device.”
“As the sophistication and number of business critical applications increases for the branch office, so do the performance and security requirements of the underlying network infrastructures supporting them,” said Wan Ahmad Kamal, Juniper Networks’ sales director for Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
“Juniper develops best-in-class integrated secure networking solutions eliminating the traditional performance trade-offs to rapidly and economically align their network infrastructure to changing business requirements.”
Expanded Networking Infrastructure Offerings
The new J2320 and J2350 J-series services routers join the existing J-series family to offer predictable high-performance and a variety of flexible interfaces that deliver secure and reliable network connectivity to regional, branch, and remote offices. Running the consistent modular JUNOS software, the J-series routers extends modularity and services integration to the branch, offering best-in-class routing with security and optional integrated IP telephony.
Using Juniper Networks ScreenOS, the SSG 320M and SSG 350M, which also share a common hardware platform with the J2320 and J2350 J-series routers, are purpose-built security platforms that complement the existing SSG family of products to deliver secure LAN/WAN connectivity at scale for small enterprise branch offices of 25-100 users. In addition to performing stateful firewall and VPN functions, the SSG security platforms protect inbound traffic flows from worms, spyware, Trojans, and malware with a comprehensive set of optional Unified Threat Management security features that include intrusion prevention, antivirus, Anti-Spam, and Web Filtering functionality.
By sharing common hardware, the new J-series and SSG platforms enable enterprises to easily migrate from one operating system to the other depending on their requirements.
The SSG 320M and J2320 offers three modular PIM slots, 4 on-board 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, Encryption Card (standard for SSG 320M and optional for J2320), optional IP telephony (for the J-series only), and delivers more than 400 Mbps of firewall traffic and 175 Mbps of VPN performance. The SSG 350M and J2350 expand upon on this offering by providing five modular PIM slots and delivers more than 500 Mbps of firewall traffic and 225 Mbps of VPN performance.
Advanced Capabilities and Network Management
The new J-series and SSG product families expands their capabilities to offer additional WAN interface modules and Ethernet connectivity options that enable the branch to create local LAN workgroups with the convenience of an all-in-one solution. Metro-Ethernet solutions are also available for both the new J-series and SSG products, which provide higher performance secure connectivity than traditional T1 and E1 links.
NSMXpress, an easy to deploy appliance version of NSM, enables network and security administrators to master the complexities of security device administration by providing a single integrated management interface in a “plug and play” appliance. NSMXpress allows administrators to control all aspects of Juniper Networks’ firewall/VPN and intrusion detection and prevention devices, including device configuration, network settings, and security policy. The NSM Central Manager appliance provides a hierarchical structure to distribute security policies across the entire network.
Availability The new Juniper Networks J2320 and J2350 J-series services routers, SSG 320M and SSG 350M security gateways, NSM Central Manager and NSMXpress network management appliances are expected to be available by end of 3Q07.
