New SAP Business Intelligence Solution Delivers Insight at the Speed of Thought

SAP® BusinessObjects™ Explorer eliminates gut-feel and offers intuitive Internet-style search function for instant data retrieval

Kuala Lumpur — May 13, 2009 — SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced SAP® BusinessObjects™ Explorer, a groundbreaking new software that empowers business users with the clarity and insight to act quickly and make effective decisions. SAP BusinessObjects Explorer brings together search and navigation capabilities from the SAP® BusinessObjects™ portfolio with SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse Accelerator (SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator) software, enabling customers to navigate mountains of business data at the speed of thought.

Studies[i] have shown that the majority of business users make decisions based on “gut feel” and do not have access to the data they need to do their jobs, resulting in lost productivity, less agility in the marketplace and flawed decision-making. SAP BusinessObjects Explorer solves this problem by making data readily available to business users and enabling them to make sense of massive amounts of data quickly.

“Given the current economic reality, it is critical for companies to have easy access to accurate information and gain immediate insight into their business and stay ahead of the competition. No longer will critical business information be elusive—SAP BusinessObjects Explorer represents the next generation of BI in which any business user can find the data needed to contribute to his or her organization’s success,” said V.R.Srivatsan, Managing Director, SAP Malaysia. “Moving forward, solutions like SAP BusinessObjects Explorer will help businesses develop a new generation of informed executives, who will drive companies globally toward a path of greater transparency, growth and competitiveness.”

SAP BusinessObjects Explorer also helps improve efficiency for IT organizations by providing self-service access to information, freeing up IT time and resources to work on more strategic projects. The new software is intended to provide self-service access to information, freeing up IT time and resources to work on more strategic projects. SAP is currently investigating expanding the relationships with its partners that include IBM, HP, Dell and Fujitsu, specifically to help make SAP BusinessObjects Explorer faster and easier way to deploy by combining and optimizing hardware and software solutions. SAP partners Intel and Adobe have contributed enabling technology to SAP BusinessObjects Explorer.

The launch, which was announced at SAPPHIRE® 2009, marks yet another milestone in the company’s successful acquisition and integration of Business Objects. The new solution delivers the most significant and largest combination of SAP and Business Objects technology to date. No other vendor offers such a unique combination of navigation, search and scalable in-memory acceleration for the enterprise. With an internet-style search box as its interface, it is designed for users without any prior IT expertise. Anyone can now explore and retrieve business information through simple keyword searches. The overall experience is as simple as browsing the internet or an online store and appealing to users who are not currently served by Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
