Malaysian Hotels Win for Local Food and Top Beaches in HotelClub Hotel Awards 2011

Unique categories honour top spots to beat the heat and try your luck

KUALA LUMPUR – 29 September 2011: Celebrating Malaysia’s expertise in yummy hawker food, lavish casinos and cool pools, HotelClub has announced its winners for the 2011 HotelClub Hotel Awards in Singapore and Malaysia.

The HotelClub Hotel Awards is a flagship programme that honours outstanding hotels from the most popular destinations around the world. The 2011 Singapore and Malaysia hotel award categories were uniquely tailored for specific local specialities like food and festivals. The hotel winners were selected based on genuine member reviews posted on www.hotelclub.com and through reviews by HotelClub's on-the-ground hotel experts.

In this year’s HotelClub Hotel Awards, Swiss Inn Kuala Lumpur was honoured under the Top Hotel for Hawker Food category. The hotel, strategically located at Jalan Pudu, is a stone’s throw away from Petaling Street’s hawker district. This makes it the perfect venue for guests wanting to sample some of Malaysia’s best hawker delights, such as char keoy teow, nasi lemak, asam laksa, ais kacang, teh tarik and roti canai during their stay.

Two hotels in Langkawi also came out winners in this year’s HotelClub Awards, with Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa winning the award for Coolest Place to Beat the Heat and Tanjung Rhu Resort Langkawi taking the top spot for Best Hotel for a Beach Getaway. With four pools featured at the Westin Langkawi and a private beach compound at Tanjung Rhu, these two hotels epitomise the best of Langkawi with its sun-kissed seaside and cooling sea breezes. The inspiring natural sights and sounds also add to the charm of this popular island.

Genting Highlands, long known for its grand casino and international clientele, triumphed with one of its hotels, Maxims Genting Hotel winning the Best Hotel to Try Your Luck award. The fact that this hotel is perched up on a mountain peak only adds to its glamour and exclusivity.
