ASUS Embraces the Spirit of the Incredible at CES 2012

Unveils the line of ASUS tablets, new ZENBOOK™ color schemes, and the VA278Q display

Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, Nevada (January 10, 2012) — ASUS, a global leader in the new digital era, today introduced new members to the ASUS tablet family, the Rose Gold and the Hot Pink ZENBOOK , and the 27” VA278Q LED display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012. These new products, along with those inducted into the CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards honoree program, truly make this an incredible start to the year. “We are thrilled to be showing these incredible products at CES 2011. Consumers can definitely anticipate more exciting innovation from ASUS this year,” said Steve Chang, President of ASUS Americas.

ASUS Transformer Series
The recently introduced ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 poses an intriguing proposition for tablet users. It is the world’s first tablet to feature the NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core processor, and is also the first tablet to have unveiled an upgrade plan for Google Android™ 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The 8.3mm-thin Transformer Prime features a spun aluminum design that is finished in Amethyst Gray or Champagne Gold. It comes with an innovative mobile dock, which delivers a battery life of up to 18 hours* when paired.

The Transformer Prime delivers an unparalleled audio-visual experience on its wide viewing-angle (178°) Super IPS+ screen with vivid visuals bright enough to be viewed even when outdoors. ASUS-exclusive SonicMaster technology produces quality audio that is currently unmatched by other tablets in the market. An 8MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash takes clear and sharp photos along with the ability to take full 1080p HD video. A back-illuminated CMOS sensor and F/2.4 aperture improves image clarity and drastically reduces grain.

ASUS also introduced the new Transformer 700 series — a premium 10.1” tablet that takes the Transformer series to new heights. Like the TF 201, audio comes by way of the ASUS-exclusive SonicMaster technology. It features a Full HD 1920 x 1200 resolution screen that introduces users to a viewing experience never before seen on tablet PCs. In addition, it has an upgraded front facing 2MP camera along with a rear-facing 8MP camera with a F/2.4 aperture. The built-in LED flash allows for clear, bright photos even in low light environments. In terms of productivity stakes, the pre-installed SuperNote app is ideal for note-taking, with a user-friendly design that allows for easy file sharing while at the same time keeping data secure.

ASUS MeMO Series
ASUS straddles the line between a tablet PC and a mobile phone with the ASUS MeMO 171 —a 2-in-1 device that consists of the 7” MeMO tablet and the MeMIC headset.

The 3G-enabled MeMO 171 features a 7” high resolution 216dpi screen that produces vivid images which are 30% more accurate through the color range and can be easily viewed even when outdoors. The touch panel responds to inputs via the bundled stylus or the user’s fingertips.

The accompanying Bluetooth® MeMIC headset lets users search for contacts, send and receive text messages, and place calls. Plug in some earphones and it serves as an audio device that streams music from the MeMO via a Bluetooth connection. The bundled stylus also lets users navigate through the MeMO’s functions with ease.

Also available is the Wi-Fi-enabled MeMO 370T, a 7” tablet PC that features the NVIDIA® Tegra® processor.

ASUS ZENBOOK™ Ultrabook™**
An incredible balance of elegance and power, the ASUS ZENBOOK™ wowed crowds when it was first released in October of 2011. Today, ASUS announced the addition of the Rose Gold and the Hot Pink color schemes to the ZENBOOK lineup this spring.

Seamlessly melding art with technology, the ZENBOOK has sleek lines that feature a concentric circle design, and boasts a thickness of just 0.35” at the rear that tapers to 0.11” at the front. It is also the first ultrabook to boast razor thin curved edges for an elegant, precision-crafted look.

Proprietary ASUS technologies give the ZENBOOK smartphone-like usability, with a 2-second instant on function and up to two weeks of standby time, or 65 days in sleep/hibernate mode.
It uses the latest Intel® Core™ i7 processors, SATA Revision 3.0 solid state storage (SSD), Bluetooth™ V4.0 and USB 3.0 with USB Charger+ technology. ASUS-patented Super Hybrid Engine II technology intelligently conserves battery life to give the ZENBOOK up to 25% more battery life* than other ultrabooks.

ASUS SonicMaster technology, developed by the ASUS Golden Ear team and Bang & Olufsen ICEpower®, provides quality surround sound audio.

ASUS VA278Q Display
The ASUS VA278Q provides vivid, crystal clear visuals through its 27” QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution display. At 0.233mm, the pixel pitch of the VA278Q is 25% smaller than that of generic 27"W FHD displays, resulting in shaper, more refined visuals. With 178° wide-viewing angles on both vertical and horizontal planes, the LED-backlit panel provides 100% sRGB color space compatibility for impressive image reproductions with minimal color shift. ASUS Contrast Ratio technology gives it an ultra-high contrast ratio of 80,000,000:1.

Designed for professional artists and photographers, the VA278Q features the ASUS-exclusive QuickFit Virtual Scale function to provide actual sized photo and grid overlays onscreen so users can accurately preview and edit their photos on screen. The ASUS Splendid™ Video Intelligence Technology has 6 hotkey-enabled pre-set modes (Theater, Scenery, Gaming, Night View, sRGB, and Standard) to optimize colors and image fidelity for the onscreen content.

The VA278Q has an array of connectivity options and is compatible with DisplayPort, and dual-link DVI. Its ergonomic design also features tilt, pivot, swivel, and height adjustments to ensure a comfortable viewing experience.

CES 2012 Innovations Design and Engineering Awards
Six ASUS products have been awarded with the CES 2012 Innovations Design and Engineering Awards — with the Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 with quad-core NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 processor, the Xonar Essence One external DAC, the ROG MARS II graphics card with dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 580 GPUs, the Rampage IV Extreme and P9X79 DELUXE motherboards and the ASUS Padfone all making the list.
