Latest Lenovo Smartphone Pushes Design Boundaries

Top-end device packs premium performance into slimmest profile in class

LAS VEGAS – January 10, 2013: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) yesterday announced its latest flagship smartphone, the K900, a premium smartphone with a super-slim profile whose look and feel make it a must-have for those who will see and be seen with their smartphones. A unique blend of design and performance, the K900 sports a 5.5-inch IPS screen, one of the best camera arrays available in class and a super slim 6.9mm profile, all running on an Intel® Atom processor.

“With the K900, our team has broken down the key functions of the smartphone and redesigned them from the ground up,” said Liu Jun, president, Mobile Internet Digital Home, and senior vice president, Lenovo. “Rather than focus on specifications that look good on a datasheet, we’ve zeroed in on what consumers want and proved that for smartphone users, top performance doesn’t require a thick profile. The K900 is a game-changer that looks as good as it performs.”

Design
As smartphones have become ubiquitous, customer demands on “top-of-the-line” devices have increased, with design and usability growing in importance. The K900 resets the bar on these aspects. At 6.9mm, the K900 is the thinnest phone in its class by a wide margin and weighs in at a mere 162g, making it a device that unobtrusively slips into a jacket pocket or handbag. Made from a composite of stainless steel alloy and polycarbonate in a Unibody mold, the K900 manages to stay strong and look sharp while maintaining its slim profile.

The material alone is not the only aspect that has allowed Lenovo to achieve a design milestone with the K900. The rear camera array is optimized for size with a new sensor and layout that does not protrude from the case, leaving a clean, smooth rear face that doesn’t snag on clothing. The design team tweaked the PCB and battery layout to reduce the space used by internal components. And the K900 is topped off by a unique “stripe” ID language that reinforces the thin body and integrates the external components.
While the K900 is certainly sleek, it does not ignore the emerging trend toward larger and clearer displays on smartphones. The K900 is one of the first smartphones in the world to combine a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1080p full high-definition resolution performance at 400+ pixels-per-inch, all under the latest, touch-capacitive Gorilla Glass 2. This gives the K900 supreme clarity and crispness along with plenty of space to capture the nuances of high-definition photos and video, as well as for viewing standard-size web pages.

Performance
Amazingly for such a sleek package, the K900 does not skimp on performance. Centered on the forthcoming Intel® Atom processor platform for smartphones, the K900 is very responsive, especially for key functions such as web-browsing and application-loading. Although Intel® has yet to release complete specifications for the new chipset, Lenovo has clearly maximized the opportunity to be the first to market with the new generation platform.

The K900’s camera stands out as one of the smartphone’s most distinguished features. As with other functions on the K900, Lenovo has overhauled the camera completely, and delivered a package that is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Megapixels is the first specification that many users recognize for digital cameras, and with 13MP, the K900 ranks at the top of its class in this aspect and combines this with an industry-leading, Sony® Exmor BSI sensor for what would already be considered outstanding performance.

With the K900, though, the Lenovo engineering team has gone even further. Recognizing that customers often need to take clear, flash-less photos in low-light, Lenovo has equipped the K900 with an F1.8 focal length lens, making it the first smartphone to offer such a wide aperture on its camera. Combined with its other specifications, the K900 is now a legitimate stand-in for a digital camera in a smartphone. In addition to these improvements to the rear camera, the front camera has also been widened to an 88⁰ viewing angle, the widest available on a smartphone front camera for convenient self-photos and video calls.

Pricing and Availability
The K900 smartphone will be available from April in China and in select regional markets soon thereafter. In-country pricing and availability will be announced closer to the regional availability date.

Gartner: Asia Pacific IT Spending to Reach $733 Billion in 2013

Analysts to Discuss Latest IT Spending Outlook During Complimentary Gartner Webinar
on January 8

Kuala Lumpur, 8 January 2013 — Leading information technology research and advisory company Gartner announced today that IT spending in the Asia Pacific region is projected to reach US$733 billion in 2013, up 7.1% over 2012. Worldwide IT spending is projected to total $3.7 trillion in 2013, a 4.2 percent increase from 2012 spending of $3.6 trillion, according to the latest forecast by Gartner, Inc. The 2013 outlook for IT spending growth in U.S. dollars has been revised upward from 3.8 percent in the 3Q12 forecast.

Gartner analysts said much of this spending increase is the result from projected gains in the value of foreign currencies versus the dollar. When measured in constant dollars, 2013 spending growth is forecast to be 3.9 percent.

The Gartner Worldwide IT Spending Forecast is the leading indicator of major technology trends across the hardware, software, IT services and telecom markets. For more than a decade, global IT and business executives have been using these highly anticipated quarterly reports to recognize market opportunities and challenges, and base their critical business decisions on proven methodologies rather than guesswork.

"Uncertainties surrounding prospects for an upturn in global economic growth are the major retardants to IT growth," said Richard Gordon, managing vice president at Gartner. "This uncertainty has caused the pessimistic business and consumer sentiment throughout the world. However, much of this uncertainty is nearing resolution, and as it does, we look for accelerated spending growth in 2013 compared to 2012."

Worldwide devices spending which includes PCs, tablets, mobile phones and printers, is forecast to reach $666 billion in 2013, up 6.3 percent from 2012 (see Table 1). However, this is a significant reduction in the outlook for 2013 compared with Gartner's previous forecast of $706 billion in worldwide devices and 7.9 percent growth. The long-term forecast for worldwide spending on devices has been reduced as well, with growth from 2012 through 2016 now expected to average 4.5 percent annually in current U.S. dollars (down from 6.4 percent) and 5.1 percent annually in constant dollars (down from 7.4 percent). These reductions reflect a sharp reduction in the forecast growth in spending on PCs and tablets that is only partially offset by marginal increases in forecast growth in spending on mobile phones and printers.

"The tablet market has seen greater price competition from android devices as well as smaller, low-priced devices in emerging markets," Mr. Gordon said. "It is ultimately this shift toward relatively lower-priced tablets that lowers our average selling prices forecast for 2012 through 2016, which in turn is responsible for slowing device spending growth in general, and PC and tablet spending growth in particular."

In Asia Pacific (including Japan), the software segment is expected to grow the strongest at 8% year-on-year, whereas the telecommunication services segment is expected to post the lowest growth at 4% year-on-year.  The devices segment in Japan is expected to post a 2% decline year-on-year. In this quarter update, Gartner lowered its devices forecast for 2013 by US$17 billion in the Asia Pacific region (including Japan). Gartner believes the demand opportunity for PCs in emerging markets is smaller in both the near and long term than we initially predicted, as buyers will turn to tablets as their first choice of device.

The Tablet market will experience greater price competition from Android devices alongside a shift to more lower-priced devices in emerging markets. This shift toward relatively lower-priced tablets lowers our average selling price forecast for 2012 through 2016. This, in turn, reduces both device spending growth in general and PC spending in particular.

Worldwide enterprise software spending is forecast to total $296 billion in 2013, a 6.4 percent increase from 2012. This segment will be driven by key markets such as security, storage management and customer relationship management; however, beginning in 2014, markets aligned to big data and other information management initiatives, such as enterprise content management, data integration tools, and data quality tools will begin to see increased levels of investment.

The global telecom services market continues to be the largest IT spending market. Gartner analysts predict that growth will be predominately flat over the next several years as revenue from mobile data services compensates for the declines in total spending for both the fixed and mobile voice services markets. By 2016, Gartner forecasts that mobile data will represent 33 percent of the total telecom services market, up from 22 percent in 2012.

More detailed analysis on the outlook for the IT industry will be presented in the webinar "Gartner Worldwide IT Spending Forecast, 4Q12 Update — 2013 The Year Ahead." The complimentary webinar will be hosted by Gartner on January 8 at 1 p.m. EST.

Lenovo Intros “Rip and Flip” ThinkPad Helix and First Multimode Mini-Ultrabook

Lenovo Rocks Mobile Computing Experience with Even More Convertible Devices

LAS VEGAS – January 8, 2013: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced two new additions to its family of convertible laptop-tablet devices: the ThinkPad Helix, a premium convertible for business professionals featuring a “rip and flip” design - a blueprint for the next generation of laptop designs – and a more powerful and productive IdeaPad Yoga 11S, the  first multimode mini Ultrabook™ equipped with powerful Intel processors and featuring Windows 8.

“Our unmatched family of convertibles gives consumers, students, business professionals, and everyone in between the opportunity to choose the convertible that’s right for them,” said Peter Hortensius, president, Product Group, and senior vice president, Lenovo. “The ThinkPad Helix gives business professionals two devices in one incredible form factor.  It is a high performance, thin and light Ultrabook with a detachable Windows 8 tablet. We’ve also pumped more power and productivity into the new IdeaPad Yoga 11S mini-Ultrabook so it can handle whatever mobile computing tasks consumers throw at it.”

ThinkPad Helix Fuses Laptop, Tablet and More with “Rip and Flip” Screen
The ThinkPad brand’s premium convertible, Helix, defines the next generation of mobile computing through its ground breaking “rip and flip” design. This special design gives users absolute mobile freedom and versatility with four unique ways to use it.

ThinkPad Helix first functions as a high performance Ultrabook. For added mobility, the 11.6-inch tablet can separate from its base to become the thinnest full-function Intel® 3rd generation Core™ tablet with vPro. Adding to its mobility, the tablet weighs 835 grams, also making it the lightest in its class1. Unlike other convertibles, the innovative “rip and flip” screen lets users flip the tablet 180° and snap it back into the base – this mode, called Stand mode, transforms Helix into a mini-movie theatre or business presentation central. From here, users can also fold the screen down to use it as a tablet while keeping the base connected for added ports and connectivity.

Besides its game-changing design, the ThinkPad Helix comes with exceptional performance and productivity features that set the bar for this type of device. A top-class Ultrabook™ the ThinkPad Helix runs up to 10 hours for a full day of work and play. Navigation and interaction are easy with the precision on-board pen, full-size keyboard and new five button clickpad that boasts 20 percent more surface area than traditional ThinkPad clickpads. As the brightest screen in the ThinkPad brand portfolio, Helix’s 11.6-inch high definition 1080p IPS display maximizes clear, crisp and vibrant visuals in nearly any environment.

To connect virtually anywhere, ThinkPad Helix comes with optional LTE2 high speed wireless and also pioneers the emerging Near Field Communications (NFC) technology that allows devices to share data seamlessly by simply tapping to pair them. Additionally, Helix delivers the ThinkPad brand’s reliability, enhanced security and manageability features that large businesses depend upon, including Intel® vPro.  Helix redefines expectations for mobile computing by bringing together innovative technology and engineering that essentially eliminate the need to carry a laptop and a tablet.

IdeaPad Yoga 11S – Small Yet Powerful Ultrabook
Users now have another option for choosing one of Lenovo’s groundbreaking flip and fold, 360° hinge IdeaPad Yoga convertibles. The new Yoga 11S comes equipped with a new low power lineup from Intel with up to 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i5 processors and  Windows 8  to give users the full power of multitasking and using Office applications, all in a svelte, 0.68-inch thin frame. Like its predecessor, users can work with Yoga 11S as a laptop, or flip the screen around to turn it into a great sized tablet. Even convert Yoga 11S into Stand or Tent modes for a space-saving way to watch movies, as it’s tuned with great Dolby Home Theatre audio and smooth Intel integrated high definition graphics.

IdeaPad Yoga 11S features an 11.6-inch HD IPS display that supports 10-finger multi-touch and comes with unique features previously only available on Yoga 13: Motion Control lets users simply swipe their hand in front of the webcam to advance photos, videos and other document, and with Lenovo Transition, users can automatically open applications like PowerPoint in full-screen when using Yoga in its other three modes: tent, stand or tablet.

IdeaPad Yoga 11S also has the same attractive rubber painting and a soft-touch exterior as the IdeaPad Yoga 13 and will be available in Silver Grey and Clementine Orange.

Lenovo offers a full suite of services for the convertibles, including In-Home Warranty upgrades for service at the owner’s home or business, and Accidental Damage Protection on select products to help insure against damage from accidents like drops or spills. Lenovo Premium Support’s expert technicians are available when needed with convenient over the phone or remote session support from the comfort of home. Additionally, a full lineup of Lenovo Services for Small Business backs up ThinkPad Helix. Customers can select from a portfolio of warranty upgrades, Accidental Damage Protection, Keep Your Drive and other protection services valuable to today's small businesses.

 Pricing and Availability
The ThinkPad Helix and IdeaPad Yoga 11S convertibles will be available starting in late-February and June, respectively, through retailers, business partners and www.lenovo.com. Models start at approximately US$1,499 and US$799, respectively. In-country pricing will be announced closer to the local availability date.

LG TO SHOWCASE EXPANDED ULTRA HD TV LINEUP AT CES

New Models Set to Join LG’s 84-inch Ultra HD TV Offering Consumers Variety of Choices to Enhance Viewing Experience

Jan. 3, 2013 – LG Electronics (LG) will display its new Ultra HD TV lineup at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. The original 84-inch Ultra HD TV will be complemented by 55- and 65-inch screen models. The new sizes offer the same stellar resolution and immersive viewing experience as LG’s 84-inch Ultra HD TV, the winner of the “Best of Innovations” in the Video Display category at the 2013 International CES® Innovations Awards. LG was the first company to successfully commercialize Ultra HD TV technology, introducing the immersive set for sale to the public in August of this year.

“LG continues to lead the way in the Ultra HD TV segment,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company, “In response to expected demand for a range of screen sizes, LG is adding a 55- and 65-inch model to its Ultra HD TV lineup. We are extremely proud of this series as a whole and the ‘Best of Innovations’ award bestowed on our 84-inch UHD TV by the CEA.”

All three models in the Ultra HD TV series boast the advanced Triple XD Engine. This exceptional picture processing technology creates astonishingly vivid images, with 8 million pixels per frame; four times the resolution (3840 x 2160) of Full HD TV panels. Additionally, the Resolution Upscaler Plus takes content of lesser image quality and renders it in high detail.

LG’s newest Magic Remote allows the user to intuitively navigate the Ultra HD TV’s smart onscreen interface. The company’s Smart TV ecosystem now includes approximately 1,400 apps and access to a growing collection of premium content services, such as 3D World and Game World. SmartShare Plus connects users to even more media and entertainment options. This feature set offers a range of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi and Intel’s Wireless Display (WiDi), which enable content to be transferred from portable devices such as laptops, mobile phones, tablets and other devices.
LG has equipped its Ultra HD TVs with CINEMA 3D technology, bringing 3D entertainment into the Ultra HD arena. Astounding screen resolution in combination with 3D effects provides an immersive experience, which is truly beyond imagination. 3D Depth Control allows viewers to fine-tune the perceived distance between objects on the screen, for a customizable 3D experience. 3D Sound Zooming furthers the sense of being ‘in the action’ by analyzing onscreen objects to generate sound in accordance with their virtual location and movement. In addition, the Dual Play feature allows opponents playing multiplayer games to simultaneously see different images on the same screen – effectively making split-screen gaming a thing of the past.

LG’s Ultra HD TV also features a 2.2 Sound System. Consisting of two 10W speakers and two 15W woofers, the sound system produces a lush audio experience that perfectly complements the extraordinary onscreen visuals; creating a true theater-like experience in the home.

At CES 2013, LG will proudly showcase the vibrant neo-pop artwork of Romero Britto on its stunning lineup of Ultra HD TVs in the Ultra HD Gallery Zone. His uplifting paintings are visual expressions of pure happiness and hope for humanity. LG’s next generation picture technology is able to convey the artist’s dynamic vision with complete fidelity. Meanwhile, the Ultra HD Content Zone will show CES visitors just how serious LG is about securing top quality, next generation content. The company has already formed an Ultra HD content agreement with Korea’s top broadcaster, KBS (Korea Broadcasting System), and is actively initiating partnerships with other global content providers and broadcasters.

LG’S INGENIOUS SQUARE-SHAPED ROBOTIC VACUUMS TO ENTERTAIN AT CES 2013

LG HOM-BOT SQUARE with Corner Master and Dual Eye 2.0™ Cameras Will Perform at This Year’s CES

Jan. 3, 2013 - LG Electronics (LG) will showcase its newest square robotic vacuum cleaner in a most
creative fashion at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) from January 8-11 in Las Vegas.

A highly trained troupe of HOM-BOT SQUARE units will demonstrate their incredible maneuverability with a well-choreographed dance routine at select times over the period of the show. Aside from possessing superb dance skills, the HOM-BOT SQUARE offers a significant upgrade in cleaning performance, thanks primarily to LG’s newly designed Corner Master. This advanced feature set includes improved sensors and longer brushes, enabling it to reach the hard-to-get-to places that conventional cleaners just can’t. Ultrasonic and infrared sensors detect obstacles to avoid, while the vacuum’s Dual Eye 2.0™ cameras accurately scan and map rooms even when the lights are turned off.

“From the beginning we jumped into this project with the realization that consumer’s rooms aren’t round, they’re rectangular,” said Seong-jin Jo, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “In practically every house around the world, rooms have right-angle corners, so it made perfect sense to LG’s design team to develop a vacuum that took this into account. The HOM-BOT SQUARE makes cleaning the hard-to-reach places effortless.”

HOM-BOT SQUARE cleans effectively and efficiently thanks to Corner Master, which is comprised of two long brushes, Corner Detecting Sensors and the cleaner’s unique shape. With its more angular form and newly designed brushes that have been lengthened by 1.5cm, the HOM-BOT SQUARE can remove dust and dirt from the tightest of corners. The Corner Detecting Sensors enable the smart cleaner to pinpoint its exact location in the home, telling it when to turn or if it has reached the edge of a room.
Robotic cleaners typically have only one camera. The advanced HOM-BOT SQUARE uses two improved Dual Eye 2.0™ cameras to plot out a smarter, faster and more efficient cleaning route. Taking several images per second, the upper and lower cameras effectively scan ceilings, walls and floors, even in the dark. This information is then analyzed by HOM-BOT SQUARE to generate smarter mapping. At the same time, multiple sensors detect all obstacles within a 180 degree field, taking a myriad of surface images for collision-free operation. The HOM-BOT SQUARE also features a Learning Function which enables it to recognize areas it has previously cleaned. This helps it to remember the positioning of objects or to sense when an area is already clean, minimizing unnecessary repetition.

Low noise level of just 60dBA means the HOM-BOT SQUARE can clean when you’re watching TV, talking on the phone or reading. With a height of just 89mm, the unit’s slimmed-down profile enables it to maneuver around the home with ease, even
under most furniture.

The LG HOM-BOT SQUARE makes cleaning more convenient because it requires less frequent emptying thanks to the larger capacity Easy-out Dust Bin. Unlike other robotic vacuum cleaners where the dust bin is located on the side, the Easy-out Dust Bin is positioned at the top of the cleaner for quick and hygienic removal. The larger and upgraded HEPA 11 filter also enables it to separate dust particles from the air more thoroughly, while also helping eliminate unpleasant odors. Turbo Mode lets users manually adjust the cleaner to best match the characteristics of their flooring and Smart Turbo Mode automatically detects the type of flooring and changes its own settings for best performance.

Users will further enjoy a host of convenient features such as Voice Guidance, which includes over 90 voice alerts as well as Smart Diagnosis that troubleshoots problems more easily. Additionally, the improved battery holds more charge, meaning owners of the LG HOM-BOT SQUARE can enjoy extended periods of worry-free automated cleaning.

LG BEGINS ROLLOUT OF EAGERLY ANTICIPATED OLED TV

LG Ushers in New Year as First Company to Launch Sales of OLED TV

Jan. 2, 2013 – LG Electronics (LG) announced today that it will begin accepting pre-orders for its eagerly-awaited 55-inch class (54.6-inch diagonal) WRGB OLED TV (Model 55EM9700) in South Korea this month with deliveries scheduled to begin next month.

Other markets where the revolutionary LG OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV will be available will be announced over the next several weeks along with their respective prices. The announcement comes just days before the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), where an early version of the TV last year was awarded “Best of Show.”

More than 1,400 LG retail stores in South Korea will begin accepting orders from consumers for KRW 11 million (approximately US $10,000) TVs starting Jan. 3 with delivery to commence the first week of February. As the first and only company to announce availability of the next-generation TV technology, LG is prepared to ramp up quickly to take the lead in the OLED segment that is expected to grow to 7.2 million units by 2016, according to DisplaySearch.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to make this announcement at the start of the new year because we believe that OLED will usher in a whole new era of Home Entertainment,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “Not since color TV was first introduced 60 years ago has there been a more transformational moment. When high definition TV was first introduced 15 years ago, the public’s reaction was ‘wow!’ but when customers see our razor-thin OLED TV for the first time, they’re left speechless. That’s a clear indicator as any that OLED TV is much more than just an incremental improvement to current television technology.”

Only 4 millimeters (0.16 inches) thin and weighing less than 10 kilograms (22 pounds), LG’s OLED TVs produce astoundingly vivid and realistic pictures thanks to its superior WRGB technology. LG’s unique Four-Color Pixel system features a white sub-pixel, which works in conjunction with the conventional red, blue, green setup to create the perfect color output. LG’s exclusive Color Refiner delivers even greater tonal
enhancement, resulting in images that are more vibrant and natural than anything seen before. The 55-inch OLED TV also offers an infinite contrast ratio, which maintains optimal contrast levels regardless of ambient brightness or viewing angle.

Even before its launch, LG’s OLED TV was turning heads all over the world. In addition to being named Best of Show at CES 2012, the influential Industrial Designers Society of America recognized the TV with a coveted IDEA Award.

Meanwhile, LG received the European Display Achievement 2012-2013 Award from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). And to cap it off, LG’s OLED received Korea’s Good Design President Award in October.

LG UNVEILS SMARTER, MORE REFINED SMART TV LINEUP AT CES 2013

LG Provides a Simple, Intuitive Smart TV User Experience with an Enhanced Magic Remote and Expanded Search and Share Capabili-ties

January 2, 2013 – LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its new CINEMA 3D Smart TV lineup at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The 2013 lineup offers easier content access and sharing along with an updated Magic Remote for a simplified, intuitive user experience (UX). A variety of models and sizes will be on display at CES, including LG’s awe-inspiring 84-inch Ultra HD and 55-inch OLED TVs.

Smart Control: Simple and Intuitive
LG offers the very definition of Smart Control with its enhanced Smart Home and Magic Remote. The new Smart Home onscreen interface featuring My Interest Cards – a special folder provides easy, quick access to what’s trending on news sites as well as up-to-the-minute weather information. My Interest Cards can be customized according to the needs and preferences of the user.

The Magic Remote has been redesigned to fine-tune content and menu navigation, making interaction as simple and intuitive as possible. The device still incorporates the fundamental control capabilities of earlier Magic Remotes – point, wheel, gesture and voice recognition. At CES, LG will demonstrate Voice Mate, an enhanced version of the company’s voice control technology capable of recognizing the natural flow of language. The Voice Mate feature offers a new voice search option that simultaneously filters search results from all corners of the LG Smart TV platform – VoD services, search engines, external devices and more. LG’s Smart Control with Magic Remote is like no other system, enabling users to experiment and discover the most comfortable way to enjoy their LG Smart TV.

Smart Sharing
The enhanced SmartShareTM feature offers users the ability to mirror or transfer content from smart devices to LG Smart TVs via a multitude of connectivity options, including WiDi and Miracast. The 2013 lineup will enhance inter-device sharing further by implementing Tag On. This feature immediately connects two devices for speedy media sharing. To use Tag On, the user simply holds a smartphone or other NFC-enabled device against the NFC sticker on a CINEMA 3D Smart TV. The 2013 lineup also supports LG Cloud, which allows the user to remotely stream high-quality content from practically any location.

Smarter Discovery in Sea of Content
Smart TV users have a steadily growing selection of content from which to choose. But how can Smart TV users easily find what they want in a vast sea of Video-on-Demand (VoD) and live broadcasts from multiple sources? The LG Smart TV offers a solution to the problem via an advanced recommendation function called On Now. The convenient service suggests trending VoD and broadcast content. Results pop-up with handy thumbnail images, making it faster and easier for the viewer to make a content selection.

With a vast array of movie, lifestyle, gaming and 3D choices, consumers looking for international or local content can quickly find what they want on their LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs. Partnerships with a growing list of providers from around the world, including local broadcasters and subscription programming services, allow LG to keep its content offerings relevant and fresh.

LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs deliver a smooth user experience and superior picture quality thanks to an upgraded central processing unit (CPU) and graphic processing unit (GPU). CPU speeds are now 120 percent faster in several premium CINEMA 3D Smart TV models. Even more impressively, GPU speeds are now 300 percent faster, which translates to clearer images that enhance gaming, viewing and multitasking.

Magic Stand and CINEMA SCREEN Design
The new 2013 models embody LG’s minimalist CINEMA SCREEN Design. The TV’s bezels have been significantly reduced to provide a greater sense of immersion. The Magic Stand further enhances the effect, enabling the screen to appear as if floating. Both elegant and functional, the stand complements the screen without creating any visual distraction. This sleek formation effortlessly blends into any modern interior design scheme. The stand also features a convenient swivel and roller function, allowing the TV to be repositioned with ease.

Comfortable CINEMA 3D
LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TVs employ Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology for superior 3D viewing comfort. This technology uses lightweight glasses to create a comfortable 3D viewing experience without the distracting flicker or crosstalk of active shutter-style glasses.

Eco-Friendly and Safe
LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV has won CES Innovations Awards for its superiority in hardware and software a number of times, including at the 2013 CES Innovations Awards. Another accolade was bestowed on the CINEMA 3D Smart TV lineup in December when the 55LA6900 model earned an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) from Underwriters Laboratories Inc. The 55LA6900 was singled out for its remarkable energy efficiency and eco-friendly qualities.

“LG always strives to provide the most engaging, most convenient user experience to consumers all over the globe,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of the LG Home Entertainment Company. “We have been singularly uncompromising, both in developing and improving the LG Smart TV platform. As a result, we are confident the UX our 2013 models will shatter all expectations and demonstrate that LG has moved the medium of Smart TV forward.”
