Penang PC Expo 2012 paints it red, celebrates “Year of Dragon”

Festive “Chinese New Year of Dragon” offers and promotions at Penang PC Expo 2012 this week at Penang International Sports Arena, January 6 to 8, 2012, complete with “Choy San” appearances

JANUARY 5, 2012, KUALA LUMPUR – Shoppers to Penang PC Expo 2012 this week will enjoy the New Year celebratory mood, complete with New Year bargains and “Year of Dragon” offers. The Expo, held at Penang International Sports Area (PISA), from January 6 to 8, 2012 will feature “fortune visits” so that shoppers can rub shoulders with “God of Wealth” (Choy San), who will giving away red-packets or “ang pows”, festive mandarin oranges, shopping vouchers, T-Shirts and more to visitors.

According EM Exhibitions (M) Sdn Bhd project director Jeslynn Wong Lee Chen, the presence of the auspicious “God of Wealth” will be quite a sight at the Expo, adding the “God of Wealth” is scheduled to appear three times at 2.00pm, 4.00pm and 8.00pm. “With Malaysia set to celebrate and welcome the New Chinese Year of Dragon in two weeks, consumers can expect a celebratory atmosphere at the Expo,” adding more than 88,000 shoppers are expected this week. Penang PC Expo 2012 is created and organised by EM Exhibitions.

With the prevalence of mobile computing and broadband, she expects consumers to ready their handheld and visual devices plus connectivity. “Our consumer digital lifestyle has embraced major holidays in a big way. We will see candid Chinese New Year video clips or photos, snapped with devices like Apple iPhones or Samsung Galaxy S2, shared on Facebooks or uploaded to blogs, moments after it has happened. I even expect consumers to belt out traditional Chinese New Year tunes from their tablets like Apple iPads or Samsung Galaxy Tabs.”

The Expo this week will help consumers ready to celebrate Chinese New Year in style. “Tablets, notebooks, digital cameras, games, wireless broadband subscriptions and accessories are especially appealing to consumers,” she said. As such, a wide array of exhibitors including major participants like Acer Sales & Services Sdn Bhd, Celcom Axiata Berhad, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, ICT Zone Ventures Berhad, MYCNX Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd, Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd, SIS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd, Thunder Match Technology Sdn Bhd, Vertex Distribution Sdn Bhd and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd are geared to fulfill that appeal.

In addition, Penang PC Expo 2012 also emphasises on local consumer digital lifestyle retailers. These include Andron IT Solutions Technology, Compusonic Computers Sdn Bhd, Eco-Tech International Sdn Bhd, Inter Micro Technology Sdn Bhd, Jaben Audio (M) Sdn Bhd, Kao Yek Computer Technology Sdn Bhd, Lam Loong Photo House Sdn Bhd, MaxQ Multimedia Sdn Bhd, Ramdac Resources Sdn Bhd, Vknow Systems Sdn Bhd and YQC Technology Solution. “Consumers should enjoy the many new year offers and promotional items on offer from these retailers,” she said.

The many offers include special bundling offers, like from BestBuy IT Mall Sdn Bhd who is offering a free 16GB USB drive and RM100 shopping and service vouchers for the first five purchases of the day for its range of notebook PCs, while Hewlett-Packard will be specially pricing its HP Deskjet 2050 All-In-One printer at RM179 bundled with a RM30 shopping voucher, RM8 ink discount coupon plus three years on-site 1-to-1 unit exchange warranty. TM is also offering free installation services and equipment worth RM1,000 for its variety of new packages from VIP5 at RM149 per month to VIP20 at RM249 per month.

Shoppers looking for accessories can also check out Jaben Headphone Store who is offering up to 50 per cent discounts on its wide range of headphones and Info Gate Communication offering 15 to 20 per cent discounts on its range of Targus backpacks, notebooks and iPad cases. In addition, she said Penang PC Expo 2012 will make available 4GB Sandisk USB drives at RM10, 500GB Buffalo External Hard disks at RM169 and HP Deskjet 2000 at RM69. “We will be beating a festive “gong” for these special offers,” she said. A total of 30 HP Deskjet 2000s at 10 units per day will be available at special “Year of Dragon” prices at 11.00am. Meanwhile 20 4GB Sandisk USB drives will be available at 12.00pm and a similar quantity at 5.00pm while 20 500GB Buffalo External Hard disks at 1.00pm and a similar amount at 6.00pm.
