Canon launches SELPHY CP900 with built-in Wi-Fi capability for easy photo printing

SELPHY CP900 also supports 54 x 54mm square ratio paper and sticker labels

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 August 2012 – Canon, a world leader in digital imaging today released the SELPHY CP900, a new compact photo printer for tech-savvy users. With its Wi-Fi capabilities and a new square sticker label, SELPHY CP900 integrates the social networking work-flow with support for photo-apps like Instagram.

Easy Connectivity to more gadgets
“The built in Wi-Fi capability in the new SELPHY CP900 makes it extremely convenient and easy to use photo printer. Not only does it allow the printer to connect wirelessly to devices such as laptops, PCs and cameras with its Wi-Fi capability, but it also connects to today’s commonly-used device for photo taking – smartphones.” said Simon Wong, Director, Imaging Communication Products Division, Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

Users will be able to print high quality photos of their captured moments instantly and conveniently. With the Canon Easy-Photo Print app for iOS devices, iPhone and iPad users can easily print photos instantaneously. Android devices are also able to connect wirelessly to the SELPHY CP900 with the aid of a WLAN access point.

The SELPHY CP900’s wireless capabilities also support DSP over IP (a standard for interconnecting devices over LAN/wireless) for dedicated cameras to connect and print wirelessly, without the need of a computer.
For more traditional printing options, the SELPHY CP900 has a memory card slot that is compatible with the commonly-used SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/MMCplus/HC MMCplus storage cards, as well as a USB slot for thumb drives and external hard drives.

Print better pictures
The SELPHY printers are known for their superior photo printing capabilities, and the new SELPHY CP900 follows in this tradition. Its dye-sublimation system provides excellent gradations at a high 300 x 300 dpi resolution, resulting in sharp photos with rich colors. The SELPHY CP900 can also optimize photos by analyzing images and correcting for brightness, contrast, and noise reduction, making them look even better than their source images.

Photos printed by the SELPHY CP900 are also protected by a durable protective print over-coating, which preserves them for up to 100 years if kept in a photo album.

Choosing the right image to print is easy as the SELPHY CP900 is equipped with a bright 2.7” TFT monitor, making it easier to crop photos and select borders.

As popular photo-sharing software and apps like Instagram often support square photos, the SELPHY CP900 will be able to support the new 54 x 54mm square ratio paper, also available as sticker labels should users prefer to paste them in notebooks and mini-albums. The SELPHY CP900 also prints photos in other sizes and aspect ratios, such as the popular postcard and passport photo sizes.
