Dell introduces new Inspiron laptops

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, January 17, 2013 – Dell today unveiled new versions of its award-winning Inspiron laptops. The new Inspiron 14, 15, 14R and 15R systems have been optimized for better performance and improved battery life in packages that are thinner than previous generations of Inspirons.

Equipped with the latest technology, the new Inspiron family features increased battery capacities for the 6-cell versions of the laptops, utilizing the ultra-low voltage versions of Intel’s Core i processors. Requiring only 17 watts to run, the new energy-efficient processors use less than half the power requirements of those installed in last year’s Inspiron laptops, resulting in longer battery life.

The redesigned Inspirons are 15% lighter than the previous generation, and 17% slimmer with the 4-cell batteries, making them under 1-inch thin.

“Our customers told us they want better battery life without sacrificing on overall performance, and they want thin and portable laptops. The new Inspiron portfolio delivers both power and performance, packed in lighter and smaller full-featured laptops that are perfect for everyday computing needs of families and students,” said Khoo Teng Guan, general manager, Consumer Business, Dell Sales Malaysia.
The laptops are available with Intel’s Core i3, i5 and i7 processor options, and support higher-end features like 3x3 dual-band wireless support based on the latest Wi-Fi N standards, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI 1.4a, and stereo speakers with Waves MaxxAudio 4 processing that was introduced in the high-end XPS laptops. They also come preloaded with Skype and H.264 enablement for HD video chats or calls. With the Intel wireless card, all these systems support Intel’s wireless display standard. Beyond these hardware and software enhancements, the laptops all have touchpads that are optimized to take advantage of multi-touch gestures in Windows 8.

Inspiron 14 and 15:
The Inspiron 14 and 15 are designed for customers who want the best features at Dell’s most affordable prices. The laptops are offered in two different screen sizes—14 and 15 inches. Apart from the abovementioned features, these two models come in a black matte textured finish inside with a Chiclet keyboard and support up to 8GB system RAM and hard drive options up to 1TB. Customers have the option to upgrade from the standard Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics to discrete NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon graphics cards with either 1 or 2GB of video memory. The many options and possibilities for customization make these Inspiron laptops versatile instruments, offering great performance on everything from basic productivity to effortlessly streaming HD video content.

Both the Inspiron 14 and 15 feature a 720p WLED 1366 x 768 display with Truelife.

Inspiron 14R and 15R:
For customers who want a little more personalization and feature options, Dell offers the new mainstream Inspiron 14R and 15R systems. Both models come standard with the Moon Silver brushed aluminum finish, but can also be ordered in optional Peacock Blue, Fire Red, or Lotus Pink colors. Beyond that, the mainstream Inspiron 15R can be ordered with an optional full HD display that supports 1080p (1920 x 1080 resolution) with an anti-glare finish. The higher resolution display is ideal for customers looking for a full HD movie experience, or who need more screen real estate to get things done.  The Inspiron 14R and 15R include a dedicated 10-key numeric keypad for straightforward number entry.
