Microsoft Malaysia Celebrates The Best Of MY Windows Store Apps

Window 8 and Windows Phone 8 platforms seeing solid growth and momentum
Microsoft committed to building a thriving ecosystem for local talents to achieve their aspirations

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 April 2014 — Microsoft Malaysia (“Microsoft”) continues its drive to put the local app developer community center stage, by having an awards ceremony to celebrate local developers for their innovative ideas and hard work in developing them into apps for the Windows 8/Windows Phone 8 ecosystem. Held at Media Prima Theatrette in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, the celebratory event saw more than 50 local developers receive due recognition and reward for their respectively accomplishment and participation in the various app development initiatives organized by Microsoft, namely the Discover MY Apps 2014 hackathon – a partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in conjunction with Visit Malaysia year 2014; DevSorcerer (Season 2) – a partnership with Cradle Fund’s Ideas2Invest (i2i) and Hack In The Box (HITB); and the Top Partner Awards.

Team Look, first prize winner of Discover My Apps hackathon.

Microsoft has been creating an impact in transforming education and driving innovation in Malaysia for more than 20 years, by inspiring students and software developers to take up the challenge to gear up for success – personally and professionally. According to Dinesh Nair, Director of Developer and Platform Evangelism, Microsoft Malaysia, “As the ICT sector continues to be an important driver of economic growth, youth with ICT skills will find themselves better qualified for new employment and entrepreneurial activities. Microsoft is dedicated not only to helping young Malaysians harness their talents and accelerate their progress, but equally as important is to provide an ecosystem in which they can thrive. Partnerships are key to Microsoft to achieve this; from the technology to the support system, and the infrastructure needed, Microsoft is committed to working with the Government and industry stakeholders to invest in training these talents.”

Discover MY Apps – Microsoft’s annual Windows Hackathon this year – harnessed the creative power of local software developers to create innovative apps that highlight the beauty and wonders of Malaysia. Discover MY Apps is a collaborative effort between Microsoft and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, with the support from partners such as BizClub PKNS, Cradle Fund, MacroKiosk, MDeC, Media Prima Digital, MY Teksi, Netizen Testing, TM and UX Malaysia.

Rashidi Hasbullah, Deputy Secretary General (Tourism Industry), Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MoTaC) who graced the event, was delighted with how youth and technology are coming together to make a positive change, in this case for the tourism industry. He said, “The world today would be a very different place without technology. As technology is evolving faster than ever before, travelers around the world have also become much more technology-savvy than in the past. As more people are connected to each other, with access to the vast pool of information available online, an increasing number of travelers are seeking information – holiday destinations, flight reservations, hotel reviews – via the Internet prior to making any travel decisions. The biggest challenge therefore is to bridge this gap between the tourism and technology industries.”
Team Social Mapper, the overall winner for DevSorcerer 2.

He continued, “The Discover MY Apps competition for our local app developers not only supports the Ministry’s tourism efforts by creating globally accessible information about our country and culture for travelers, it also contributes to nation-building by providing a platform for local talents to embrace entrepreneurism and innovation. As Malaysians, we all have a collective responsibility to nurture and train the next leaders of the country, but this role is not exclusively the Government’s. It is also a shared responsibility with the private sector and other key stakeholders. I am glad that Microsoft shares the country’s priorities, in this case supporting the Ministry’s efforts in promoting Malaysia as a top holiday destination in the world, and at the same time empowering youth by providing them with the opportunity to unleash their creativity, hone their skills, and become change-makers.”

Media Prima Digital, Malaysia’s largest digital media group, said that the chance to host the awards ceremony was a great opportunity to show its support for the nation’s digital industry, and also the minds behind the success of it. “We are glad to extend our venue to host the celebrations to recognize our local app developers. These talents thoroughly deserve the acknowledgement for their creative ideas but more importantly, the hard work and detail they have put into it. Initiatives like Discover MY Apps exemplifies what the synergy between technology and innovation can create: an opportunity to create a brighter future for the next generation of Malaysians. Our collaboration with Microsoft and the other partners has been a fruitful experience,” said Lam Swee Kim, Group General Manager, Media Prima Digital.

The event also saw recognition for the winner of DevSorcerer (Season 2) and a special category to acknowledge top partners who have developed apps on the Windows 8 platform.

Abdullah Abbas, from the team that was the overall winner of DevSorcerer 2, was ecstatic with the achievement, saying, “Personally, this is actually the second time I have participated in the DevSorcerer series. This time round it was exciting for me and the team because the format of the competition was slightly different; we were required to solve various challenges prepared by the judges. It is not only a way for us to understand more about Microsoft technology, but it also allowed us to mingle around with other participants and discuss ideas that we can potentially do together in the future. As a developer, it was a very good opportunity for me to learn how to build better apps, and to share my experience with others.”
Discover My Apps hackathon winners with VIPs and sponsors.

Adding to that, Dinesh said, “Experiences like the one Abbas had are the kind that we hope to increasingly see through the many initiatives we have been doing for the local developer community. From the WOWZAPP hackathon and Asian Development Bank’s AppsForAsia program in the past, to the recent Microsoft Imagine Cup – and now the recognition for Discover MY App, DevSorcerer 2 and Top Partner developers – it is clear that our youth have the brilliance and the tenacity to be the world’s best. What is lacking however are opportunities for these developers to showcase their talents, both locally and globally. That is exactly what we have been doing, and will continue to do – providing opportunities.”

With over 140,000 apps now available on the Windows Store, Microsoft is on a constant drumbeat to provide an avenue for the local developer community for all things app. “Developers at today’s event will have the support of Microsoft Malaysia to further their ambition through the Mobile App Acceleration Camp (MAAC), a global Microsoft program that gives participants the technical, business, and financial support to help build a great app for the Windows platform. If selected, teams stand to receive a grant of up to 70,000 Euro (RM316,600) to develop their app. Locally, developers can look forward to //publish/, an event where they can bring existing apps and game projects to code with developers from around the world. Developers will receive onsite support from Microsoft and community experts to remove blockers and add the finishing touches to their projects,” concluded Dinesh.

We also want to ensure that no one is left behind on outdated, unsupported devices and services. With the end of support of the legacy Windows XP and Office 2003 now upon us, there is no better time for SMEs to modernize their business.”

“With the launch of the Good Bye XP, Good Buy Windows 8 trade-in program today, we invite SMEs to visit any of our TM SME BizFest and TM SME BizFiesta roadshows this month until end of June, to enjoy a wide range of Windows 8.1 latest devices on offer, at very attractive prices. With Microsoft and Intel, we are truly making business easier for SMEs!”, Azizi added.

The trade-in program will bring the best of devices, powered by Intel Processors, to SMEs, running on the latest Windows 8.1 operating system, and equipped with the cloud-powered Office 365 Pro Plus productivity suite. With the range of devices available, business owners have options available to them to meet their different needs and requirements.

According to Azizah Ali, Director, Small and Medium Solutions and Partners, Microsoft Malaysia, “For more than 20 years in Malaysia, Microsoft has worked closely with our partners to help Malaysian businesses transform through technology, so they can focus squarely on what matters most: building the business. Our partnership with TM has yielded many great initiatives, such as the ‘Office in a Box’ and ‘UniFi with Office 365’ programs, and today, we are delighted to continue in the same vein with our longstanding partners, TM and Intel. At the end of the day, SMEs can be confident of the technology expertise and resources that we and our partners possess to take care of their IT needs, so that they can concentrate on the success and growth of their business.”

“As we set forward to achieving targets set by the Malaysian Government in the SME Masterplan 2012-2020, it is imperative that Malaysian SMEs take decisive steps towards improving the productivity and agility of their business with the right IT technology in place,” said Prakash Mallya, Country Manager Sales and Marketing of Intel Malaysia and Singapore. “Like our partners TM and Microsoft, Intel believes that ICT is one of the key enablers for Malaysian SMEs to achieve success and we are more than well placed to equip Malaysian SMEs with the latest enterprise IT solutions in order to raise the contribution of Malaysian SMEs to the economy by 2020.”

“In recent time, there have been many exciting developments in computing technology including the introduction of our 4th Generation Intel Core Processor Family. With processors running the range from Xeon to vPro, and Core to Atom, Intel offers a comprehensive range of enterprise solutions featuring the best combination of performance, capabilities and cost effectiveness,” added Prakash.

Timely Opportunity For SMEs To Get To Modern: Door Closes On Support For Windows XP
With the retirement of Windows XP and Office 2003 on 8 April 2014, the need for businesses and consumers to upgrade to newer versions of Windows and Microsoft Office has never been greater.

Microsoft announced a year ago that they will end support, including automatic security patches, for its 12-year-old Windows XP operating system. As a result, customers will no longer receive new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates. This means that any new vulnerabilities discovered in Windows XP after its “end of life” will not be addressed by new security updates from Microsoft, leaving users vulnerable to malware attacks and countless security risks.

These companies are also at risk of compromising their ability to be more productive and collaborative, as the lack of technical support results in costly productivity loss for businesses in the event of computer downtime or software compatibility issues.

Industry associations in Malaysia are in unison over the urgent need to upgrade to newer version of the Windows OS and Office productivity suite. Seow Thong Seng, ICT Chairman of Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA), said, “Windows XP has been a dependable piece of computer software popular with many SMEs in Malaysia because it was stable, fast, powerful and relatively simple to use. Now with the end of support for Windows XP, it is critical that SME owners come to understand the significance of this event. The end of support will mark the start of what could be an IT nightmare for businesses as they are exposed to IT security risks and compliance issues if they continue to use Windows XP after 8 April 2014. The message to our members is clear - step up and migrate to Windows 8.1 and Office 365 to avoid being exposed to the security and privacy risks, and to take advantage of what newer and more modern technology has to offer."

Teh Kee Sin, National President of SMI Association of Malaysia echoed MPMA's sentiments, saying, “There will be questions of financial and time investment to execute the whole process, but the benefits of being secure and protected far outweigh the unacceptable risks of being left vulnerable to security and privacy threats. Businesses need to think about the significant advantages that a more modern operating system entails. Realistically, the investment can be quickly recouped as they see improvements to their IT ecosystem – improved security features, better business efficiency and higher user productivity. It’s high time to get the migration process started now.”

“The modern workforce requires the tools to allow them to stay productive anytime, anywhere, while businesses have an ever increasing need to protect data and ensure security, compliance and manageability. Windows 8.1 and Office 365 are designed with these needs in mind. These are the real needs that a 12-year-old OS can no longer address. Good Bye XP, Good Buy Windows 8 is a timely initiative to help business owners make the much needed migration to stay at the forefront of technology, and at the same time avoid the security pitfalls of outdated and unsupported software,” Azizah concluded.

Over 3 Million PCs in Malaysia still at Risk with Six Months Left Before Microsoft Ends Support for Windows XP

Time is running out for 17% of PCs in Malaysia which Face Potential Security Risks and Productivity Downtime from 8 April 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 October 2013 – Microsoft today reminded business and consumers in Malaysia with PCs still running Windows XP that it will officially retire service and support for Windows XP in six months’ time, on 8 April 2014. With half a year left to this crucial milestone, there are over 3 million PCs in Malaysia, or roughly one in six PCs, which are still running on Windows XP, an 11-year-old operating system no longer capable of handling sophisticated cyber-attacks and demands for more data privacy and productivity.

After 8 April 2014, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, non-security related fixes, there won’t be a number to call for technical assistance, or online technical content updates for Windows XP. This means that users will no longer receive the updates that help protect PCs from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. This may result in downtime and software compatibility issues.

Microsoft urged all business and consumers still using PCs running on Windows XP to upgrade to either Windows 7 or Windows 8. According to the findings of Microsoft’s Security Intelligence Report, Volume 14, released in April 2013, Windows XP with SP3 is up to 56.5 times more vulnerable than Windows 8 RTMi.

StatCounter figures for September 2013 show that Windows XP accounts for approximately 17% of PCs in Malaysia. That’s still equivalent to 3 million PCs. On the bright side, as of September 2013, consumers and businesses have been slowly upgrading to newer versions of the operating system, and at least 65% of PCs are now on Windows 7 and 8.

Azizah Ali, Director of Small and Medium Partners and Services, Microsoft Malaysia said: “Clearly, there’s still a lack of urgency in some organizations in Malaysia to make migration a priority. While no one likes change, consumers and businesses need to consider newer operating systems like Windows 7 or 8 in order to modernize their computing devices and to address sophisticated threats which can compromise the safety of their personal information.

This could result in additional costs associated with support and business continuity. With the typical deployment times for upgrades spanning from three to six months for small businesses, and more than six months for mid-sized businesses, we are really worried that some companies in Malaysia are cutting it too close to the end of service date. We’re committed to helping Malaysia upgrade.”

Industry analysts have been advising businesses to move away from Windows XP over the past years. With six months to go before the end of service for Windows XP, IT analysts are stepping up their education efforts to drive a greater sense of urgency.

"Time is running out," says Handoko Andi, Manager of Client Devices Research at IDC Asia/Pacific.  "In order to make sure that PCs continue to be securely supported and operational, both consumers and businesses alike should be migrating to newer versions of the operating system now, given the termination of extended support for Windows XP in just six months’ time."

Charlie Dai, Principal Consulting Analyst, Enterprise Architecture, Forrester Research, made the following comments in his blog post, “Take a forward thinking, while pragmatic approach to Windows Migration”, on 17th September 2013: “Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 have been widely used on the client side and server side.

Very few companies have put Windows migration on its IT evolution roadmap. However, I believe the time is now for IT professionals to seriously consider putting Windows upgrade into the IT road map for the next 6 months as Windows XP and the pirated OS won’t be viable much longer to support your business. We believe that Windows will continue to be a leading operating system as the base experience for IT professionals in 90% of companies globally is still on Windows. The upcoming availability of Windows 8.1 also provides substantial reasons for companies to migrate.”

Customers can visit the Windows Upgrade Centre website, which features insights from analysts and customers on their XP OS migration journey, and the latest special offers from Microsoft’s partners. With the microarchitecture flexibility and graphics improvements across all of the “Bay Trail” SKUs, the Pentium N3000 Processor and Celeron N2000 Processor series also boast three times faster performance in productivity applications and up to three times improvement in graphics compared to 3-year-old Intel-based value notebooks3. Designs powered by these processors can be fanless, can measure less than 11 mm thick and weigh just 2.2 lbs. Intel expects the systems to start at $199 for a clamshell device, $250 for a notebook with touch and $349 for a 2 in 1 device.

The “Bay Trail D” line will be available in three SKUs: Intel Pentium J2850, Intel Celeron J1850 and Intel Celeron J1750. These offerings are Intel’s smallest-ever packages for desktop processors, making them ideal for fanless and smaller form factor systems for entry level desktop computing. The processors are also ideal for vertical uses, including intelligent digital displays, with the power savings and up to three times faster performance than similar products from Intel just three years ago3. Full systems based on these SKUs are expected to start at $199.

Productivity Boosting Office Suite and Design
Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 comes pre-installed on the new Iconia W3. Valued at RM399.99, the package includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, giving customers the applications they need right at their fingertips.

The Iconia W3’s design makes it incredibly useful for productivity in several different ways. The slim and sleek device weighs 0.5kg and measures only 11.35 mm thin, so it’s easy to take anywhere. The device pairs with an optional full-size Bluetooth keyboard that holds the tablet upright for typing and then conveniently docks to the tablet to lay flat for easy, screen-protected transportation. The keyboard mirrors the size of those found on larger 13.3-inch notebooks, so it is comfortable to use and makes working on documents and presentations even more convenient.  The Acer Iconia W3 was designed with a virtual keypad sized for optimal thumb typing.

Windows 8 Companion Brings PC Capabilities Anywhere
Since the Acer Iconia W3 runs Windows 8, it keeps files, photos, and contacts synced across other Windows 8 devices, so customers can work on documents and programs on the go and then conveniently access the most current version from another device.  Plus, because it runs full Windows 8, the Acer Iconia W3 is compatible with x86 legacy Windows programs. Consumers can customize  Windows 8 by utilizing Live Tiles right on the start page to keep updated on the topics, news, weather and other events that they care about most.

The range of capabilities paired with the slim size makes the Iconia W3 great for sharing at school, work and home. Windows 8 supports multiple user IDs, so customers will have access to their email, Live Tiles and other apps. The device keeps content secure and safe with multiple layers of security and parental controls, even with multiple people using it.

On the Go Performance for Productivity and Entertainment
The new tablet is powered by an Intel® Atom™ processor, optimized for mobile to smoothly handle a range of apps, including web browsing and enjoying digital media.

The Acer Iconia W3 provides up to 8 hours of battery life to boost all-day productivity in classes, while traveling, or simply for staying in touch throughout the day. Connected Standby helps extend battery life by turning the display off while the device remains powered on to handle background tasks. The Acer Iconia W3 keeps consumers connected to Wi-Fi networks and hotspots with 802.11b/g/n wireless technology.

The crisp 8.1-inch LED-backlit display brings 720p video to life with incredible detail and brightness. The 1280 x 800 resolution makes photos, multimedia, text and graphics appear crisp and clear.  The W3’s front- and rear-facing 2MP webcams ensure that the tablet is outfitted for social networking, video conferencing and sharing.

The Iconia W3 was designed to enable quick sharing of data between devices to bring full PC productivity to a tablet form factor. It has a micro-HDMI port for connecting to a TV or external display for sharing presentations, photos and video. The micro-USB port allows easy sharing of data and a connection to devices like phones, MP3 players, USB drives, or a mouse.  The new tablet is available with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, and customers can add an additional 32GB via microSD for extra storage and convenient transfer of photos and video between devices.

Windows 8.1 Preview now available

Ongoing momentum on display with new marquee apps announced for Windows at Build conference.

SAN FRANCISCO, 26 June 2013 – Microsoft Corp. today announced the immediate availability of the Windows 8.1 Preview, the next update of the Windows operating system, at the company’s developer-focused Build conference. As part of the conference’s keynote speech, the company outlined the reach, design and economic opportunities for developers to build differentiated, touch-based apps for the Windows platform, including new developer tools and increased support. Company executives also highlighted new top apps coming to Windows, including Facebook, Flipboard and NFL — clear evidence of the steady app momentum for Windows, which is experiencing the fastest growth across any platform.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was joined on stage by Julie Larson-Green, corporate vice president of Windows, and other company executives to demo the Windows 8.1 Preview, focusing on key areas of personalization, search powered by Bing, increased functionality for businesses, new in-the-box apps and more.

“With Windows 8 we built a new Windows, reimagined from the chipset to the experience. It was an ambitious vision, and with Windows 8.1 we refine it,” Larson-Green said. “Windows 8.1 will support the widest range of tablets and PCs and demonstrates how responsive we can be for customers. The preview we are releasing today is an important step for partners around the world that are building the next generation of Windows devices and apps.”

Antoine Leblond, corporate vice president of Windows Program Management, also took the stage to outline how Windows 8.1 provides additional opportunity for developers to design, build and market their Windows Store apps. He reinforced the best-in-class economics — developers keep 80 percent of the revenue for the lifetime of the app once it crosses the $25,000 revenue threshold. He also highlighted new updates, including the following:

• Redesigned Windows Store. The Windows Store has been completely redesigned in Windows 8.1 to reach engaged customers and connect them more effectively and quickly to the apps they want. This includes increased merchandising opportunities for apps and better discoverability based on an individual’s preferences, as well as new search controls from Bing in the user interface. App listings have a new layout with refined navigation and more related content.
• More monetization opportunities. Windows 8.1 delivers new opportunities for developers to build and monetize apps and engage users. Leblond introduced Windows Store gift cards, an easy way for consumers to purchase apps, books, games and content. Customers will be able to load their Microsoft Account with stored value in their local currency and make purchases online from the Windows Store. For developers in China, the Windows Store will support Alipay, meaning local developers will have new options to generate additional revenue.
• Leading experiences. Windows 8.1 offers developers a canvas to present and develop compelling app designs. Windows 8.1 apps can work together to share data, share the screen and deliver richer customer experiences across a range of devices, including new 8-inch-and-below form factors.

Beyond Windows 8.1, Microsoft showcased how developers can take advantage of tools and resources across the company to build differentiated experiences for their customers across Microsoft devices and services, including the following:

• Bing as a platform. The new Bing platform builds upon the large investments Microsoft has made in the core technologies behind Bing.com to be embedded as intelligent services into Microsoft devices, Microsoft services and third-party apps that people use every day. In addition to providing the Search experience in Windows 8.1, Windows Phone, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Office, Bing Developer Services are now available that enable third-party developers to leverage Bing technology to create amazing experiences in their own services and Windows and Windows Phone applications. More information is available here.

• Releases of Visual Studio 2013 Preview and .NET 4.5.1 Preview. Timed to the next wave of Windows, Visual Studio 2013 offers the ideal toolset for building rich modern applications that run on Windows 8.1. With a range of new features, Visual Studio 2013 makes it easier and faster for developers to create applications and services using modern lifecycle practices that span mobile devices and the cloud. Microsoft also announced a preview of .NET 4.5.1, enabling developers to build next-generation applications for devices and services while innovating their existing core business applications. Visual Studio 2013 and .NET 4.5.1 previews are now available for download here. More on Visual Studio can be found here.
• Windows Phone developer opportunity. Microsoft today announced that shipments of Windows Phone grew six times faster than the rest of the smartphone market over the past year. Sprint also announced plans to add Windows Phone 8 to its 4G LTE network this summer with the HTC® 8XT and the Samsung ATIV S Neo™. With the release of Windows Phone 8, customers are now downloading more than 200 million apps per month and generating more than twice the daily app revenue. To help give developers the best return on their investments, the next release of Windows Phone will be designed to run the same apps that developers are building today and support the same familiar tools and skills. For a limited time, developers can register with Windows Phone Dev Center for only $19.

Courtesy of Microsoft and Intel Corp., attendees at Build received the first 8-inch Windows-based tablet, the Intel® AtomTM Z2760 processor-based Acer Iconia W3 and a Microsoft Surface Pro, with all the horsepower of the third-generation Intel® Core™ processor in a sleek tablet form factor. With new levels of  performance, battery life and versatile form factors enabled by Windows 8.1 and Intel Architecture, these devices offer developers the chance to quickly get started building Windows 8.1 apps that will scale across form factors of all sizes. Among other giveaways, attendees received 100 GB of extra SkyDrive storage for one year, making it easy to store and access their files from anywhere.

The Windows 8.1 Preview is available for download beginning today. More information is available at http://www.preview.windows.com.

Malaysians Can Now “Go Pro” With The Microsoft Surface Pro!

Surface launch momentum continues with this full-fledged PC in the ultraportable form of a tablet, additional touch cover options, and expanded retail outlets

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 June 2013 – Building on the launch momentum of the Surface brand of devices heralded by the arrival of the Microsoft Surface RT about a month ago, Microsoft Malaysia (“Microsoft”) today announced that Malaysians can now “go pro” with the Microsoft Surface Pro, available in participating retail outlets nationwide from 7 June 2013 onwards.

Carlos Lacerda, Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia, commented on the excitement that has continued to build since end-April’s launch event, “We were thrilled with the enthusiastic response the Surface RT received, and have since been hard at work to bring in the Surface Pro. Now, Malaysian consumers, clients and partners have the additional choice of an amazing device that delivers a full, no-compromise computing experience that lets you get work done. It’s the power and productivity of a full-fledged laptop, in the sleek, svelte form factor of a tablet that truly transforms the way Malaysians live in today’s on-the-go lifestyle!”

He added, “The Surface Pro will be especially appealing to corporations and businesses who are looking for a lightweight, durable, powerful device that is specifically designed with additional enterprise-grade security features, as well as optimized to work with in-house applications they may already have.”

“Surface boasts the power and apps you want, looks amazing, and is light and easy to carry. You’ll enjoy taking Surface wherever you go to deliver your best. With the availability of both the Surface Pro and the Surface RT for Malaysians, the Surface movement in Malaysia is truly underway!” said Carlos.
Microsoft Surface Pro has been drawing plaudits from industry observers as well for its revolutionary design that marries both functionality and fun. According to Bryan Ma, Associate Vice President of IDC Asia/Pacific, “PCs may be under pressure from tablets these days, but the silver lining is that this has in turn spurred the industry to come up with interesting product designs that are very different from the stodgy boxes that we had seen in the past.”

“Microsoft's Surface Pro, among other products, is an example of how the lines between PCs and tablets are blurring, and how the ecosystem can still produce inspirational products that can also be functional for certain users like business professionals and road warriors," he added.
Carlos Lacerda, Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia

• Surface pen. Surface Pro includes a pen that lets you jot down ideas anytime, anywhere. Distinctively crafted to work with Surface, the pen is a stylish way to edit, collaborate and do your signature work.

• Kickstand. Surface was designed with an integrated kickstand that makes work instant and easy. Just flip out the kickstand and you’re ready to get busy.
• Security. Surface Pro combines the security and manageability that you expect from Microsoft. Microsoft BitLocker encrypts your hard drive’s data, helping keep your stuff safe. Install applications and connect with accessories and printers, just like you always have.
• Connectivity. When your creations need to be shared with others, connect to projectors, big screens or displays by plugging into the Mini DisplayPort. This HD connection lets presentations, videos and documents take center stage.
