Malaysia Finishes Fourth at CME Group’s Global Trading Competition

Kuala Lumpur, 31 March 2014: Malaysia’s Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation today emerged as one of the top four teams in the annual CME Group Trading Challenge. The four-week electronic trading competition offers teams of graduate and undergraduate students the chance to trade CME Group products across multiple asset classes. The competition took place in a real-time simulated trading environment provided by CQG.

Nearly 400 teams from 31 countries participated in the challenge organised by CME Group, the world’s leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace. After going through a preliminary and a championship round, a total of four teams are announced as winners:

The winning teams will receive a cash prize and an invitation to attend a one-day market education conference with other selected participants at CME Group on 11 April 2014.

Speaking about the win, Wong Li Kien, Team Leader of Team Forex Traders, said: “The team went through a grueling period of preparation at the initial stages of the competition and we are pleased to learn that our hard work has paid off. We hope that more Malaysians can participate in this challenge as it offers local students, interested in trading, a platform to showcase their skills in a relatively risk-free environment.”
