Fujitsu Launches Managed Mobile Solution in Malaysia

Turning mobile complexity into improved business performance

Kuala Lumpur, 06 March 2013 – Fujitsu, a leading information and communications technology (ICT) company, today launches its Managed Mobile solution in Malaysia to meet the growing mobile infrastructure management needs, particularly seen in the government sector and enterprises.

Fujitsu Managed Mobile is an enterprise-class, cloud-based platform that focuses on managing organizations’ heterogeneous and geographically dispersed mobile infrastructure in a secure manner.
Chief Technology Officer of Fujitsu Asia/Pacific, Craig Baty, stated “BYOD (Bring your own device) trends are on the rise and many business organizations are profoundly challenged by the rapidly escalating mobile complexity and consumerization of IT.”

Mobility Management Solutions in Public Sector
At the recent FutureGov Summit 2013 attended by over 150 senior local public servants in Malaysia, Fujitsu shared its findings on the trend of local government agencies that are fast recognizing the need to have a central control and security of mobile communications and mobile ICT infrastructure within their organizations.

“Being able to capitalise on mobile platforms is important for ministries and their agencies to improve employee productivity and better serve citizens. For example, with the Managed Mobile solution, police on patrol can immediately access their systems and obtain information regarding the neighborhood activities for more effective prevention of crime.”

“A real life example is Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs that leverages Fujitsu Pushmail services to enable approximately 680 employees worldwide to access e-mail messages and calendar appointments via various mobile devices to ensure connectivity anytime, anywhere,” shared Baty.

In addition, Fujitsu also sees a growing interest in solutions, like the one it is introducing today, amongst enterprise players in the market, as organizations can no longer afford to ignore the critical IT considerations and opportunities that mobile devices present them.

Closing Security Gaps
According to Gartner, smartphone shipments have surpassed PC shipments. A McKinsey Global iConsumer Research also reported that iPhone users alone have increased the time spent emailing via their smartphone by 45%, while reducing time spent emailing via their PCs by 15%.”

In addition, Gartner predicts that90% of organizations will support corporate applications on personal devices by 2014. “Within the next 12-24 months, organizations will be forced to alter their computing strategies due to mobile workforce’s overwhelming requests to support smartphones and tablets. Organizations will need to demonstrate significant business improvements through improved workforce collaboration and productivity while managing down total cost of ownership,” Baty added.

“However, the growing diversity of mobile devices is causing many IT managers to venture into unfamiliar territory, especially when more and more employees are using their own mobile devices for and at work.”

The Fujitsu Managed Mobile solution aims to address the mobility issues around BYOD trends whilst accommodating the day-to-day needs of mobile workers.

According to Fujitsu Malaysia’s Managed Services Lead, Suzlinda Sulaiman, “Fujitsu Managed Mobile service is an industry-leading, all-in-one global cloud offering that enables our customers to efficiently deploy, manage, support, control and secure mobile devices, applications and users.”

“It connects and tracks mobile workers, including field service engineers, sales people, and remote professionals under a more diverse and geographically dispersed mobile infrastructure environment into a common operative process of their organizations.”

Sulaiman further explained, “If a device is lost or stolen, it can be decommissioned in real time and the organisation can perform resets selectively, removing company data from an employee device, leaving the employee's personal data intact.”

“Differentiated from other mobile devices management solutions in the market, Fujitsu Managed Mobile solution can automatically configure and provision 3rd party applications and integrate with business IT systems.”

Fujitsu Managed Mobile solution is a fully managed global, cloud-based service that supports multiple mobile platforms such as iOS (iPhone, iPad), Windows Mobile, Windows Phone, Blackberry, Android and Symbian in a more cost effective approach; allowing enterprises to manage from 50 to over 50,000 devices via the same service.

Fujitsu has delivered mobile services to customers since 2004 and supports over 120 customers with 25,000 users in 40 countries. Some of its reputable clients include Qantas, Vodafone, Electrolux, Volkswagen, Toshiba and UK Financial Services Authority. <For more details about Fujitsu Managed Mobile Solution, see enclosed brochure>
