Schneider Electric Launches UPS with the Best-in-Class Run Time Battery Saver

Affordable and reliable uninterrupted power supply system that boosts productivity during short power outages

Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur – March 24, 2014 — Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, announced the launch of the Back-UPS™ BX625CI-MS, a feature packed uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system designed for home, SOHO (small office/home office) and SMB (small and midsize business) users who require performance and protection for their computers and networked devices including WiFi routers, gaming set-ups, network attached storage, AV equipment and point-of-sales systems to mention a few.

The UPS comes with three universal output sockets, which accept all local plug types, providing a much safer option to powering multiple electronic devices than the common practice of connecting them all to a single power socket or a power cable extension.

A UPS is an electrical device meant to provide power supply to an electronic device in the event of a power outage or when the power input fails.  It differs from an auxiliary or emergency power system or standby generator in that a UPS device provides instantaneous (or very nearly instantaneous) protection from power outages.

According to IDC Worldwide Home Networking forecast 2012 – 2016, 389 million households worldwide are expected to have a home network by 2016 and virtually every new digital application for consumers will rely on a network connection. This trend will necessitate safe and uninterrupted power supply at home and in SOHO environments more than ever.

‘Anyone who values their electronic devices can significantly benefit from our Back-UPS, but in SOHO environments where network connection, peripherals and building wiring are more sensitive to surge damage and where smart and networking devices often share a circuit, they are critical. Power surges damage equipment by entering through the power cord and stressing an internal component within the device. Moreover, in small and home offices it is quite common to have multiple devices connected to single socket or a power cable extension, which magnifies the damage”, said John Atherton, Malaysia IT Business Vice President of Schneider Electric.

With a first-of-its-kind battery saver functionality, push button circuit breaker in Back-UPS BX625CI-MS ensures easy recovery from circuit overloads and protects the fuse box as well as electronic devices from electrical damage.  The battery run time of 12 minutes on a typical, all-in-one PC enable users to complete more online transactions such as receiving and sending emails; file downloads and uploads productive conclusions to online business chats and satisfactory end to an online game during sudden power outages.

“The uniqueness of this UPS lies in its industry-first battery saver and high run-time capabilities that provide lower operational costs over the medium and long-term, making it a worthwhile investment. For many who rely heavily on network devices to play, learn and work, shutting down devices in the event of a critical environmental alarm can prevent the loss of invaluable information,” added Atherton.

“After a recent power outage I realised that while most of the electrical devices I own are equipped with battery power, the WiFi and Internet modem are not. So, while the Internet service to my area continued to work fine, without power to my modem, as a blogger, I couldn't finish my work online,” said Rebecca Saw, a prolific lifestyle, food and gadgets blogger (www.rebeccasaw.com). “I have my peace of mind with Schneider Electric’s Back-UPS™ BX625CI-MS and it has helped me countless times to safeguard my work, avoid data corruption and burnt circuits on my appliances”, she added.

Other key features of the Back-UPS™ BX625CI-MS include:
Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) which corrects incoming voltage
Compatibility with lower power loads, for example WiFi routers and DSL modems
3 battery backup and surge protected with Asia universal outlets
Push button circuit breaker
Automatic diagnostic testing
2-Year warranty including battery
