BenQ Launches World’s First Flicker-free VA LED Monitor for Added Eye Comfort, Visual Enjoyment and Productivity

New model features Flicker-free Technology and Senseye® Reading Mode to combat Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) 

Petaling Jaya, June 18, 2013 – BenQ, the internationally renowned provider of digital lifestyle innovations and VA LED monitor expert, has launched the world’s first Flicker-free VA LED monitor that comes with innovative features for added eye comfort, better visual enjoyment and higher productivity.

The 27-inch BenQ GW2760HS VA LED monitor (RRP: RM959) features Flicker-free Technology and Senseye® Reading Mode.  It promises to be a smarter and healthier option for heavy computer users, a growing number of whom are affected by Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).

CVS describes a group of eye and vision-related problems that result from prolonged computer use.  The symptoms include eye strain and irritation, headaches, blurred and double vision, redness on eyeballs, dry eyes, eye muscle spasms, and neck and shoulder pain.  

Speaking on the need for proper eyecare, Association of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO) president Murphy Chan said that it has been estimated that 60 per cent of the worldwide population suffer from one or more of these symptoms at some point during the day. They are increasingly common among the younger generation, including children, due to their constant exposure to a myriad of gadgets that include computers, tablets and smartphones.

According to BenQ Service & Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd senior manager Chaw Foo Hong, Flicker-free monitors were previously available only for professional use due their high prices.  

“Now, BenQ has put Flicker-free LED monitors within reach of parents, students and young working adults.  In fact, the price is extremely competitive and upgrading your computer monitor for the sake of your health does not come at a great cost,” he said.

Apart from the 27-inch launch model, BenQ Malaysia plans to introduce other smaller screen Flicker-free models ranging from 24-inch down to 18.5-inch in the coming months.

Flicker, or a flashing effect, occurs as the LED backlight controller of a monitor adjusts to the changes in brightness level. A regular monitor backlight can cause fast backlight flickering at 200Hz per second when brightness is reduced from the maximum level.

When this happens, the human eye, sensitive to the slightest signals, strains the ciliary muscle trying to adjust to the nearly invisible flickering on the screen, causing users to experience eyestrain, eye fatigue, headaches or even myopia.

BenQ’s new flicker-free monitors adopt a unique De-flickering Backlight Circuit Controller for a zero-flickering viewing experience and in turn help reduce the eye health concerns raised by a fast-flickering display and prolonged usage of computers.

Other complementary ergo-related features of the new generation of BenQ Flicker-free monitors to be launched in the coming months include:

BenQ Short-Throw Projectors Ranked #1 in Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa Markets

Market share #2 in overall projector market, #1 in DLP segment

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 20, 2008 – BenQ Asia Pacific*1 reported today on third-quarter results for its projector business. These results showed in the Asia Pacific region (exclusive of China and Hong Kong), the Middle East and Africa, BenQ was number one in short-throw projectors with 34.7% market share, surpassing the second-place vendor (27.1%) by 7.6 percentage points; 10 countries clutched top spot including Japan, a highly demanding and competitive market.

Overall, BenQ ranked second in the projector market, and its market share increased by 67.7% in Q3 2008 compared to Q3 2007, while significantly outperforming the overall market, which grew by 11.7%; top in the DLP segment with 26.4% market share according to the “Projector Q3 2008 Brand Volume and Value Results” study released by Futuresource Consulting.

“By taking advantage of our core strength in product innovation, versatile marketing strategies and solid local partnerships, BenQ has achieved a record quarter for projector sales,” said Adrian Chang, President of BenQ Asia Pacific Corp.


BenQ’s strong performance in Q3 was driven by booming demand for the company’s short-throw models, which combine excellent design and cutting-edge technology to enable more home entertainment applications and use in space-limited areas. “BenQ saw what the market has been looking for – the ability to use projectors more flexibly not only in the workplace but also for home entertainment. 新明基電通正式營運

新明基於今（3）日宣布正式營運。自明基電通於六月股東會中通過分割品牌事業提案後，即展開相關作業，並於九月一日完成分割程序。明基電通於2001年12月正式發表自有品牌BenQ至今，品牌事業發展已具規模，擁有獨立運作能力及獲利模式。分割完成後將持續以「享受快樂科技」為品牌定位，以涵蓋3C領域的數位網絡時尚產品為核心競爭力，成為完整3C技術整合的品牌公司。
