Lexmark works diligently to develop and implement industry-leading environmental practices that relate not only to its products, but to everything it does, everywhere in the world.

As a provider of printing solutions and an ongoing stream of consumables, Lexmark has a unique environmental outlook. Each year, Lexmark produces and distributes millions of supplies for Lexmark printers including X5470, X1270 and C500n. For twelve years, Lexmark has recovered and reused or recycled its used toner cartridges. The result is less solid waste and fewer resources consumed.

Lexmark’s Cartridge Collection Program includes various methods of return and sponsors unique collection partnerships around the world. Collection programs are always free to the consumer and are designed to be easy to participate in.

Why is Lexmark doing this?Lexmark has environmental objectives that are implemented through a strategy to:

Reduce the volume of solid waste material disposed of by its customers
Reuse products and materials where possible
Recycle, when possible, what can’t be reused.

Returned cartridges are recycled with a 100% zero waste to landfill outcome, with no incineration. That way, cartridges are kept out of the solid waste stream.

How does it work?

It’s simple. The Lexmark Cartridge Collection Program offers an easy, effective and environmentally positive way to handle empty cartridges. Individual empty cartridges can be returned by the consumer by contacting their dealer or retailer wherever they purchased the cartridges or by calling Lexmark on (603) 7492 0862 to arrange collection. Empty cartridges may also be returned to participating Lexmark Authorised Supplies Resellers.

Cartridges that cannot be reused are processed for material recovery to maximize the percent of material reuse. Greater than 90 percent of the weight of the returned toner cartridges is recycled as raw materials and made into new plastic, aluminum, ferrous metal or paper products.
