JARING LENDS A HAND TO SHAH ALAM’S WIRELESS BROADBAND PROJECT

SHAH ALAM, June 28: JARING Communications Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s Internet pioneer, is providing support and know-how to the Selangor state government and Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) to develop Shah Alam’s Wireless Broadband Pioneer project.

The pioneer project collaboration will see JARING providing Internet access to the Shah Alam’s Central Business District (CBD) and the city which has a population of more than 120,000 users.

JARING is working with the Selangor state government to provide the planning and construction of the wireless broadband service that will give residents in the Shah Alam city centre a broadband service, enabling Internet connection of up to 384kbps at various locations within an area of 112 square miles.

Parts of the city that will enjoy the wireless broadband service include the vicinity of Bangunan MBSA Building, Bangunan Darul Ehsan, Dataran Shah Alam, Alam Sentral, Bangunan MRCB, Plaza Perangsang, SACC Mall, Kompleks PKNS dan the nearby Taman Tasik Shah Alam.

The service is free for the first three months starting Jun 22, 2008 after which a nominal fee may be charged for the use of the facility.

According to Dr Mohamed bin Awang Lah, JARING Communications’ chief executive, “It is an honour for JARING to be chosen as the Internet service provider to design a network plan for the Shah Alam’s wireless broadband, an important city in the Klang Valley.

“We are pleased to provide our experience and qualified personnel to work together with the state government on the design and installation of their new wireless network.

“Our background and experience in providing wireless broadband networks around the country makes us a service provider of choice for the project and to date, JARING has 14 transmission towers across Klang Valley which are mostly located in Selangor.

Dr Mohamed added, “We applaud the state government initiative that aims at providing broadband services in Selangor. We hope that the state will reach its broadband penetration of 90 percent by 2010.”

To use the service, the public can simply access the wireless broadband service via their laptop, mobile phone, PDAs etc at the selected hot spots.

The service was recently launched by Yang Berhormat Puan Rodziah Binti Ismail, Selangor State EXCO for Welfare, Women Affairs, Science, Technology and Innovation.

JARING 向莎阿南的无线宽频网络计划施援

(莎阿南28日讯)大马网络服务的先驱JARING Communications Sdn Bhd将向雪兰莪州政府及莎阿南市政厅(Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, MBSA) 施援和提供技术援助,以发展莎阿南无线宽频网络的先驱计划。

透过这项先驱的合作计划,JARING将为超过超过12万名用户的莎阿南中央商业区 (Central Business District, CBD) ,提供互联网服务。

JARING正在与雪兰莪州政府合作,策划与建置无线宽频网络服务。这项服务覆盖112平方英里的地区,将为莎阿南市中心居民,带来一项高速宽频网络服务,允许在多个地点的网络连接速度达348 kbps 。

莎阿南城市部分地区能够享有无线宽频网络服务,包括莎阿南市政厅大厦一带、Darul Ehsan大厦、莎阿南广场 (Dataran Shah Alam)、Alam Sentral、MRCB大厦、Plaza Perangsang、SACC Mall、Kompleks PKNS,及毗邻的Taman Tasik Shah Alam。

这项服务从6月22日起,首3个月免费让民众使用,过后州政府将向使用上述服务的公众,征收数额较小的收费。

Dr Mohamed补充:“我们赞同州政府为雪兰莪提供宽频服务的行动计划,我们希望雪州在 2010 年将宽频渗透率提高至 90%。”

有兴趣使用免费的无线宽频网络服务的公众,可以在指定的地点,透过手提电脑、手机、掌上电脑等使用无线上网。

这项服务是在近期,由掌管雪州福利、妇女事务、科技、工艺和创新委员会的Rodziah Ismail行政议员主持推介仪式。
