Avnet Technology Solutions Officially Opens New Office and State-Of-The-Art Solution Center in Malaysia

MALAYSIA, 8 August 2008 – Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS), one of the world’s leading software and hardware providers, announced today the opening of their new office and solution center in Petaling Jaya. Avnet’s new premise, with a build-up area of approximately 10,000 square feet is a testament to the commitment pledged by them to develop the technology market in Malaysia and also provide first class technology knowledge transfer to all current and future employees of the company.

The new ATS office located in Mutiara Damansara comes fully equipped with cutting-edge facilities such as the sophisticated solution center, a planning room, a training center and staging amenities for solution testing. Furthermore, ATS’ new premise also reflects its intention to provide even more local employment opportunities as it plans to expand its current headcount by 10 per cent by the end of this year.

New Solution Center In Malaysia
Dubbed as the Avnet Solutions Center, this state-of-the-art solution center provides an ideal environment and necessary facilities where ATS and its partners can focus on developing and delivering reliable IT solutions to local businesses.

With an initial investment of RM 5 million and the latest upgrade of RM 250,000, the center will offer business partners and clients integrated business solutions leveraging on industry-leading and cutting-edge technologies. The functions of the solution center include:

1) Showcase of technology
Through the Avnet Solution Centre, customers can now observe the latest technology from industry giants such as IBM, Sun Microsystems, Symantec, NetApp, Doubletake, Vision, Commvault and VMWare function under simulated business environments. The range of technologies covers a wide spectrum from high availability to virtualization as well as advance storage solutions. With this facility at their disposal, choosing the right business solution becomes less of a challenge as customers can now gauge the level of returns from their investments more accurately.

2) Partner-centric applications
The Avnet Solution Centre is essentially built on a multi-platform infrastructure. This means that Avnet can now pick and test best-of-breed solutions from its various partners such as Oracle, SAP, SAS and Microsoft to find the most suitable combination of applications to specifically suit a particular business or industry and ultimately push the boundaries of “customization” even further.

3) Other services
The opening of the Avnet Solution Center will also enable them to offer additional services such as data migration and training modules to the technical engineers. The center currently allows for on-site testing and demonstrations and will soon be able to provide virtual demonstrations via broadband and live camera.
