SAMSUNG MALAYSIA NAMES 3 NEW DIRECTORS

Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd, the sales and marketing arm of Samsung in Malaysia, has appointed three new directors to support its going forward business expansion in the country.

Andrew Cheong is the new Director of Mobile Phone Division while Ivan Wen and Bryan Lee have been appointed as Director of IT Sales and Marketing, and Director of Corporate Marketing respectively.

The new directors report to Samsung Malaysia Electronics Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lee Tae Jik.

A marketing veteran with a collective experience of over 20 years in telecommunications and fast moving consumer goods, Andrew has been tasked to reinforce and build Samsung’s position in the mobile phone market.

Prior to joining Samsung Malaysia, he was the Managing Director of Nokia Malaysia, Senior General Manager of TIMEdotCOM, General Manager (Sales) of Guinness Anchor Berhad Ivan Wen will helm the IT division whose product portfolio includes LCD monitors, laser printers, optical and hard disk drives. Samsung is the current market leader of LCD monitors and multi-function laser printers.

He joined Samsung bringing with him over 20 years of experience in IT, including a 12-year stint with NCR in Malaysia and Singapore. He then joined Fujitsu Malaysia as General Manager, Business Solutions before he moved to Lotus Sales & Services (Malaysia) as the Country Manager.

After the integration of Lotus Software into IBM Malaysia, Ivan has managed the Lotus and Rational software brands, as well as the SMB division before he set up F5 Networks in Malaysia in 2004, where he led F5 to be the market leader in the Application Delivery Networking market in Malaysia.

Bryan, no stranger in the advertising and marketing fraternity, will spearhead Samsung Malaysia’s marketing initiatives, including corporate and brand marketing, marketing communications, sponsorships, CSR and public relations.

After his advertising stint in international ad agencies, he joined KFC Holdings as Product Manager. In 1994, he joined British American Tobacco Malaysia where he was Head of Channel Development & Merchandising. He was the Group Marketing Manager of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia before joining Lee Kum Kee as the Regional Marketing Manager for South Asia and Middle East.
