U MOBILE STRENGTHENS ITS PRESENCE IN THE NORTHERN REGION WITH NEW STORE OPENING

Seberang Jaya, 16 December 2011- U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s most dynamic and innovative telco, continues to expand its reach to the northern region of Malaysia with the opening of its latest U Mobile Store at Seberang Jaya, Penang.

The new U Mobile Store, which was opened yesterday, provides U Mobile customers in the North with easier and more convenient access to U Mobile products and services. The Store is a “one-stop service centre”, a concept inherited from its flagship store in Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur.

Services available at the Store include providing prepaid starter packs and top-up vouchers, postpaid packages, broadband registrations, payment transactions, and customer service support by friendly U Mobile staff. The Store is the second in the region following the opening of the U Mobile Store in Queensbay Mall, Penang.

U Mobile has been working to establish its footprint in Penang, a strategic location for the Company’s fastest mobile internet offering with speeds of 42Mbps. To date, U Mobile has completed approximately 80% of its HSPA+ site rollout on the island and the mainland, and is planning to reach its capacity of 150 sites by early 2012.

The official opening saw the unique action of “breaking the golden eggs” by SKMM representatives, Ismail Othman, Operation Director and Faizal Azizan, Deputy Director. They were joined by U Mobile representatives Kevin Yip, Head of Device and Branch Operations and Michael Mah, Head of Sales. The ceremony symbolized the birth of the U Mobile Store. U Mobile customers helped celebrate and were treated to various prizes, including a U Mobile 42Mbps modem, 21Mbps Mifi, Blackberry Torch, Blackberry Bold, HTC Salsa as well as Huawei IDEOS. In addition, all the new U Mobile subscribers bagged Starbucks, Giant and GSC Cinema vouchers.

Commenting on the launch, Dr. Kaizad Heerjee, Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile said, “We will continue to focus on increasing our network coverage and strive to increase our presence in key locations to bring us closer to our consumers and make our products and services more accessible.”
