14,000 new electronic payment touch points nationwide for DiGi customers

Flexi e-load payment platform upgraded & expanded to support prepaid and postpaid customers

SHAH ALAM, 28 August 2012 – DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DiGi”) is offering greater convenience to all its postpaid and prepaid customers by expanding and upgrading its electronic flexible payment platform infrastructure to 14,000 new customer touch points nationwide. These touch points go live effective today, enabling greater reach and support to customers who reside in rural and suburban areas in Malaysia.

When DiGi first started offering electronic reloads, the denomination value was from RM5 to RM100 with increments of RM1. Subsequently, DiGi launched the Flexi e-load loose change option in 2006, which allowed DiGi prepaid customers to choose a reload value from RM5 to RM100 with increment of RM0.05.

This was followed by the stored reload option in 2009 that enabled customers to store funds for future prepaid reloads in their DiGi account for greater convenience. In time, customers can subsequently reload in lower denominations than the current RM5 at selected participating outlets in smaller towns and rural areas like mini-markets, grocery stores and pharmacies.

The new Flexi e-load system can also support bill payment by postpaid customers; enabling them to make advance or deposit payments, and transact outstanding balance payments for terminated accounts via DiGi’s network of dealers. Postpaid customers can even request for their outstanding bill balance as well as unbilled amount to settle their bills at participating DiGi dealer outlets.
Said Chuah Teong Hooi, Head of Product Development: “In 1995, DiGi became the first mobile service provider to offer prepaid services in Malaysia and ever since then, we have been introducing better and easier ways for our customers to reload. Over time, we have increased our network of touch points to offer more services and support our flexi e-load traffic, which contributes 40% of our total reload traffic.

“With the new system in place, we are able to extend our dealership touch points in areas where our expanded customer base has grown. It also accords the added advantage to provide simple yet relevant services to our postpaid customers via our extended network of dealers and street vendors.”
