New solutions, product enhancements introduced at China Print 2013
Kuala Lumpur, May 16, 2013 — HP today announced accelerated adoption of the B2-format HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, which is helping printing companies worldwide grow their businesses through increased efficiency and a wider range of digital print applications.
Momentum of the entire HP Digital Press Portfolio continues, with more than 6,000 HP Indigo Presses and 100 HP Inkjet Web Presses installed worldwide as of the end of January. Widespread market acceptance of these solutions, including explosive adoption in the Asia Pacific and Japan region (APJ), has driven the analog to digital transformation in the graphics industry and contributed to the strong growth of high-value digital pages.
HP also announced a series of new solutions and product upgrades for its digital press portfolio, enabling the commercial printing industry to expand capabilities and help increase profitability.
“Printing companies are facing immense pressure to expand their services and add new capabilities to remain competitive in the marketplace,” said Gido van Praag, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business, HP Asia Pacific and Japan. “HP’s expanded graphics portfolio, introduced one year ago at drupa 2012, is fueling the industry transformation from analog to digital printing by helping our customers expand their range of applications, go after high-value pages and grow their businesses.”
HP made the announcements in conjunction with China Print 2013, where HP is the largest digital printing exhibitor at Hall E1-002 of the New China International Exhibition Center.
Rapid adoption of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press
Printing companies around the world are taking advantage of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, with installations now complete in 11 countries which include China, Taiwan, India and Australia. The wider format of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press enables highly efficient imposition of most standard commercial printing jobs, facilitating high throughput and lower production costs.
Examples of customers that have recently adopted the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press include:
• Avery Dennison added two HP Indigo 10000 Digital Presses to its China plant to strengthen regional operations and increase productivity to better service its customers in the retail apparel industry.
• CTPS Digiprints added the new HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press to its Dongguan plant in China. This expands its current fleet of HP Indigo Digital Presses and HP Inkjet Web Presses and allows for greater productivity and higher-value applications,
• Netherlands-based Digital4 installed the press to take advantage of its wider format and bolster its digital print capabilities.
• The Matlet Group, based in the United States, acquired the press to produce commercial and packaging applications, and to deliver new innovations to its customers.
Capturing new applications with HP Indigo Digital Presses
To help customers protect their investments and produce a broader range of high-value applications, HP is introducing new features for its best-selling HP Indigo Digital Presses.
The company has introduced a new red-fluorescing invisible ink for the HP Indigo 7000, 7500 and 7600 Digital Presses. Currently available on the HP Indigo 5600 Digital Press, HP Indigo ElectroInk UV Red is valuable for tracking and anti-counterfeiting features and offers printing companies greater application versatility and increased productivity. This new capability will be launched in Asia Pacific at China Print.
HP also introduced Enhanced Productivity Mode (EPM) for the HP Indigo 3550 Digital Press. EPM, which was introduced on all other HP Indigo Digital Presses last year, gives customers a competitive edge by reducing turnaround times and production costs. With EPM, color jobs use only three inks instead of four, without compromising print quality. This capability is expected to be available in Asia Pacific in June 2013.
Also at China Print, HP will feature the HP Indigo W7250 and WS6600 Digital Presses, a wide range of workflow solutions. and introduce the HP SmartStream Production Center which is designed to help PSPs increase productivity and efficiency of their HP Indigo digital presses.
The HP SmartStream Production Center is a first-of-its-kind(1) software-based production management system that is designed to address the challenges of efficiently receiving, producing and delivering high volumes of short-run print jobs. The system helps printing companies meet aggressive customer deadlines by improving job status visibility, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, and monitoring production, enabling more effective use of their capital equipment.
A versatile system, the HP SmartStream Production Center can fit into any production environment. It manages a high number of jobs received from multiple sources, including web portals, MIS systems, and prepress tools. It then automatically routes them to multiple production platforms, regardless of whether they are HP Indigo Digital Presses or non-HP digital presses, offset presses and finishing equipment.
New solutions for HP Inkjet Web Presses
Since entering the production inkjet market in 2009, HP has helped many of the world’s leading book, transactional statement and direct mail printing companies improve productivity, reduce costs and grow their businesses into new application areas.
HP is developing new solutions designed to help printing companies maximize their return on investment in production inkjet equipment. new workflow and color management solutions include:
• HP SmartStream Composer, a variable data printing (VDP) composition server for HP SmartStream Designer templates. Currently available for HP Indigo Presses, HP SmartStream Composer is now optimized to run at inkjet web press speed for a variety of applications. It is targeted at printers who generate personalized print products and are looking for a cost-effective VDP composition solution for HP Color Inkjet Web Presses.
• HP SmartStream Web Press Color Studio, a comprehensive suite of tools and solutions for the HP Color Inkjet Web Press family, enables optimal inkjet color print quality by allowing PSPs to accurately check color quality before going to print. Using the solution helps PSPs achieve consistent color results from design through print. It includes soft proofing, the ability to create ICC color profiles, spot color matching aids, installation and on-site color training.
HP SmartStream Composer and HP SmartStream Web Press Color Studio are available in Asia Pacific.
More Versatility for Sign and Display Printing Customers
HP also announced new ink and expanded media options for its large-format sign and display portfolio, helping sign and display companies increase application value as well as
versatility.
The HP Scitex FB7600/FB7500 Enhanced Color Pack upgrade(1) provides a scalable ink option to better meet client color needs and deliver point-of-purchase (POP) applications with high image quality. Offering a six-, seven- or eight-color configuration(2) the first inks available for the color pack are the HP FB225 Orange and Light Black Scitex Inks(3). HP FB225 Orange Scitex Ink provides a broader gamut for vivid colors with more realistic skin tones and improved spot matching for brand colors with increased analog-to-digital consistency. HP FB225 Light Black Scitex Ink creates smoother gray solids and improves neutrality. This ink can be added to the press’ six process colors, allowing PSPs to enhance image quality and achieve higher productivity.
High-value metallic printing solution for HP Scitex FB700/500 Industrial Printers
HP will also be showcasing at the booth a high-value metallic solution for HP Scitex FB700 and 500 Industrial Printers, supported by HP software partner Color-Logic. The Color-Logic software enables customers to produce metallic effects ideal for high-quality retail and POP applications, as well as package prototyping. The offering requires the Color-Logic Printers Design Suite & License, HP FB251 Scitex White Ink and HP-approved media for metallic substrates.
