The Samsung UD590 UHD monitor delivers detailed, high-pixel imaging and stunningly realistic colours. It is capable of producing lifelike images with the most accurate colour representation. The SD590 features a modern, minimalistic design with a super slim narrow bezel that is nearly invisible, while the elegant design of the SD390 and SD360 introduces a new Touch of Colour (ToC) element with pure blue infused throughout the entire bezel.

“We are excited to showcase our newest monitors with our partners and distributors in Malaysia,” said Lee Dong Yong, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics. “Our new lineup of monitors meets the increasing demand from consumers and businesses that are seeking the highest resolution, improved picture quality, unique designs and the best multimedia for entertainment,” he added.

UD590 UHD Monitor
Consumers are now able to bring Samsung’s leading 4K UHD technology into the home with Samsung’s 28-inch UD590 UHD monitor, which provides four times the resolution of Full HD (FHD) displays. With a response time of 1ms, the UD590 displays movies, games and Internet-streamed content perfectly and smoothly without any blurring or ghosting for a completely immersive viewing experience. The UD590 delivers unrivalled colour quality as it is capable of displaying one billion colours, which is 64 times more colours than the standard monitor. It also includes UHD upscaling technology that converts low resolution content to UHD-level picture quality and creates sharper images.

The UD590 features advanced multitasking technology, with Samsung Picture in Picture (PIP) 2.0 that supports native sources resolution up to FHD and Picture by Picture (PBP) that connects two different PCs to one monitor screen with native resolutions. It has a game mode option that easily makes a dark and blurry picture bright and clear, and provides a display port and two HDMI inputs to connect PCs and various AV devices. Especially, UD590 can display UHD contents from game console like Xbox one, PlayStation4 using HDMI port 1.4version.
SD590 Full HD Monitor
The minimalistic design of the 27-inch and 23.6-inch SD590 monitors allows consumers to concentrate on content without any distraction. The SD590 sports a nearly invisible, super narrow bezel that gives users more screen space to enjoy, and is complemented by a modern and sophisticated T-shaped linear stand with a metallic face that gives the illusion that the monitor is floating in the air.

The SD590 also offers superior picture quality as the panel’s wide viewing angle enables users to experience consistent natural colour and contrast ratio from any angle within 178 degrees. With Magic Upscale technology, users can experience better picture quality even with low resolution content as it prevents broken images when scaling to FHD. The SD590 also includes a game mode hotkey option and provides a D-sub and two HDMI inputs.
SD390 and SD360 Full HD Monitor
Featuring a new Samsung signature ToC design, the stylish 23.6 inch SD390 (black) and SD360 (white) monitor will stand out in any room. The narrow bezel illuminates a subtle hint of soft pure blue that sets an elegant glow around the monitor. At the same time, the slim, sleek body and transparent crystal neck create a sophisticated and tasteful look.
The monitors also offer a wide viewing angle, Magic Upscale technology and FHD, a game mode option, a D-sub and HDMI input.

Samsung Unveiled World’s First Curved Ultra High Definition (UHD) TV

Combination of curved design & UHD technology creates the ultimate immersive experience

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – April 15, 2014 – Samsung Malaysia Electronics unveiled the world’s first Curved UHD TV today. The 65-inch masterpiece features a curved design with Samsung’s UHD (Ultra High Definition) TV technology for the ultimate immersive viewing experience – setting the pace for innovation and design in home entertainment.

“This is a big year for entertainment and the new Curved UHD TVs will change the way the world views TVs. Samsung’s ultimate goal is to give people the power to discover new experiences,” said Lee Dong Yong, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

Lee Dong Yong, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics leading the product tour with Frederick Ong, Vice President, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Malaysia Electronics and Jimmy Tan, Director, Consumer Electronic Marketing, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

“Samsung will lead this new era of television with the new Curved UHD TV as well as a broad lineup of home entertainment products that will truly take your home entertainment experience to the next level,” he added.

The Ultimate Immersive Experience
Ushering in a bold new era of immersive viewing, Samsung is blending its innovative curved design with its UHD TV technology. The curved screen gives viewers a stronger presence not felt on flat screens, plus, a wider field of view creates a panoramic effect that makes the display seem bigger than it is.

The curved design enables a more realistic and true-to-life viewing experience even in different viewing positions, so everyone watching has the best seat in the house.

The UHD TVs provide crisp picture quality because they have four times the resolution and pixels of Full HD. Additionally, all UHD TVs feature UHD Upscaling, which enhance the images and gives users great picture quality regardless of source material.

The combination of the curve and UHD technology creates the ultimate immersive viewing experience, bringing images to life and providing spectacular colour, clarity and detail. This is augmented by Samsung’s proprietary Auto Depth Enhancer, an algorithm that analyses regions of images and automatically adjusts contrast for a greater sense of depth.

Colour is further enhanced on these sets with Samsung’s PurColour™ technology in the U9000 Curved UHD TVs, which reproduces colour for even more detail expression. The number of colour adjustment points has been increased by a factor of seven.

Ahead of the Curve
Samsung UHD TVs are also the only TVs in the market that are future-ready thanks to the Samsung UHD Evolution Kit. In fact, in the industry, only Samsung UHD TVs are PrimePass certified, which means users can be confident about enjoying the new detail and picture quality of this next-generation TV technology.

This year, Samsung introduces the UHD Video Pack. Now you can enjoy UHD-quality content pre-loaded on a one terabyte hard disk which includes feature films from FOX and Paramount Pictures.

Smart TV, Easier & Faster
Samsung’s Smart TV is even easier, faster and more fun to use. The new Multi-Link Screen feature brings contextual multitasking to the big screen, enabling users to go deeper into their entertainment by splitting the screen into two and bringing related content to enhance the viewing experience.

Turning on the TV has never been faster with Instant On thanks to the upgraded Quad Core processor, the Quad Core Plus, which is up to two times faster than the Quad Core process and delivers quicker loading and navigation with an overall improved Smart TV performance.

Built For Malaysia
Samsung has tailored its 2014 lineup to have exciting features specifically for the Malaysian market. Knowing the penchant for football in the country, the new Soccer Mode bring football fans even closer to the action that allows you to zoom-in, auto and manual highlight for a more enjoyable football match experience.

The new Family TV feature lets family members enjoy their entertainment experience to the fullest with Screen Capture and Sound Capture allowing you to save scene images and audio clips straight from the TV.

Life and Design in Tune
Samsung has much in stored for Malaysian consumers with an expanded roaster of matching audio-video products, all aimed at elevating the entertainment experience across the home.

Launched together with the new Curved UHD TV, Samsung also unveiled its new offering integrating wireless and multiroom technology. This includes the Samsung Wireless Audio – Multiroom System, Soundbar, SoundStand and Blu-ray Home Entertainment System.

Be ready to rock your party, with the world’s first component audio system integrating the main system and speakers – Samsung GIGA Sound System. With integrated wheels that maximize mobility, booming sound and synchronised lighting effects, the Samsung GIGA Sound System turns any setting into the hottest club in town.

‘Coliseum’ Monument Showcase
The world’s first Samsung Curved UHD TV is currently exhibited at Pavilion KL’s centre court from today to Sunday. The highlight of the exhibition is the ‘Coliseum’ Monument built in collaboration with acclaimed film director, Michael Bay.

The Samsung ‘Coliseum’ Monument houses seven Samsung Curved UHD TVs forming an elliptical amphitheatre showcasing Bay’s upcoming blockbuster – Transformers 4: Age of Extinction.

Retailing at RM21,999, the Samsung Curved UHD TV will be available from end April 2014 onwards at selected Samsung retail outlets and authorised dealers. For each pre-order of the Samsung Curved UHD TV, customers will receive a complimentary new Samsung GALAXY S5 smartphone worth RM2,399 valid from today to 30 April 2014.

In fact, the report estimates that pay TV revenues (through subscriptions and on-demand) will grow by $2.1 billion in 2013 alone to $33.9 billion. With rapid digital conversion and a continually growing number of video-enabled mobile devices comes increased consumer demand for next-generation services, and new players competing with traditional broadcasters for viewers and subscribers. Demonstrations and presentations at Ericsson TV LIVE at Broadcast Asia will show how Ericsson is responding to these major trends, enabling operators to effectively manage, deliver and monetize the next generation of TV Anywhere services.

“The TV and media industry in the Asia Pacific region continues to boom, but we are at an important stage in the market’s growth, with digital penetration and pay-TV revenues rapidly rising, as well as the requirement to meet the challenges of today’s connected consumer,” said Ward Hansford, Head of APAC region, TV Compression Business, Ericsson. “Ericsson TV LIVE at Broadcast Asia provides the perfect opportunity for our TV experts to meet with broadcasters and operators and explore how we can help enable them to become more profitable, productive and ultimately, successful in their business.”

o MPEG DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH)) – simplifies and standardizes the delivery of video to all consumer devices, ensuring a better quality of service, greater efficiency and opening opportunities for monetization
o eMBMS (Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service)– is a 3GPP standard, it enables mobile networks to offer broadcast/multicast services dynamically to offload issues of popular content in dense consumption scenarios, reducing the cost of service delivery over the radio network and for backhaul.
Operator CDN, the Ericsson Media Delivery Network, which is uniquely designed to unite the delivery of managed and unmanaged content over fixed and mobile networks.

There will also be live demonstrations of MPEG-DASH adaptive streaming and Ultra High Definition TV (UHDTV). Additional demonstrations include state-of-the-art multi-screen user interfaces for TV Anywhere experiences, enabling operators to meet consumer need by delivering rich, blended services on all screens, as well as the third generation of Ericsson’s market-leading Content Management System. MEASAT AND ERICSSON TRIAL UHDTV SATELLITE CONTRIBUTION

Broadcast Asia demonstration of encoding system shows efficient delivery of next-generation video
Responds to growing consumer demand for the very highest quality TV services
System comprises Ericsson encoders and modular receivers

MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. (MEASAT) has begun trials with Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) to demonstrate the ability to provide live Ultra High Definition TV (UHDTV) video contribution over MEASAT’s satellite network. As UHDTV gains momentum and operators explore how it can become part of the future roadmap, there remains the challenge of enabling necessary workflows through the entire broadcasting ecosystem to the home.

Ericsson and MEASAT are demonstrating a live solution at Broadcast Asia 2013, Asia’s largest representative, integrated show for the pro-audio, film and TV industries. The system shows how UHDTV premium coverage such as live sport can be broadcast today.

“MEASAT looks forward to supporting UHDTV across Asia, beginning with this trial on our high-powered MEASAT-3 satellite. UHDTV will take consumer expectations for high quality picture to a new level. We are therefore ensuring that the necessary solutions and systems are in place to deliver the next generation of TV services that meet evolving consumer demand,” said Jarod Lopez, Vice President, Broadcast Sales, MEASAT. “We are excited about the UHDTV trial using Ericsson’s reliable and efficient solution and will ensure that we have the infrastructure in place to distribute and broadcast 4K content over satellite in a reliable and robust manner.”

MEASAT has a reach that covers over 150 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Australia, representing 80% of the world’s population. The Ericsson solution that it has in place for the UHDTV trial uses Ericsson’s AVP 2000 contribution encoders and RX8200 advanced modular receivers.
“We understand that with consumer demand for higher quality comes greater pressure on broadcasters to increase service velocity while maintaining the high standards that are expected,” said Dr. Giles Wilson, Head of TV Compression Business, Ericsson. “This trial with MEASAT demonstrates how content providers and broadcasters can simply and effectively build their UHDTV content libraries so that they are ready for commercial launch in the coming years. Ericsson is a pioneer of next-generation TV services and is committed to enabling the industry to meet consumer demand, rather than chase it.”

Ericsson’s AVP 2000 and RX8200 solutions deliver the highest levels of performance including 4:2:2, 10bit support as well as p50/60 support. As they use MPEG-4 AVC encoding technology, the same devices can also be re-used for HD and SD contribution applications. Ericsson has also employed its Simulsync technology to ensure that the delivery of the UHDTV images remains perfectly in sync.
