Games Convention Asia introduces industry development program targeted at students

‘GCA 2008 Students’ Day’ is a FREE event for students interested in game development, featuring lectures from leading game developers from around the world.

Singapore, 11 September 2008 –Leipziger Messe International Asia (LMI Asia), organizer of the forthcoming Games Convention Asia (GCA) 2008, announced full program details for “GCA 2008 Students’ Day”, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 20 September 2008. This distinctive event is part of the convention’s Conference line-up, and is geared as an industry development program targeting students from around the South East Asia region to provide them with industry knowledge of content development and distribution. Students can participate for free and need to reserve their seats in advance at www.gc-asia.sg.

Games Convention Asia Conference (GCAC) Students’ Day is sponsored by DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore, the leader in game development education. Students’ Day will bring notable game industry specialists which include: the Chairman and President of DigiPen Institution of Technology, Claude Comair, Nexon Corporation and Nexon Mobile CEO Joonmo Kwon, MIT professor Henry Jenkins III, Ubisoft’s Claude Langlais, the Technical Director of Assassin’s Creed, and There will also be a panel discussion where the topic is “What the gaming companies are looking for in fresh graduates”. The panellists will include representatives from leading game publishers and developers: Electronic Arts, International Games Developers Association, Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Animation Singapore.

The GCA Student's Day gives students the opportunity to listen to world-class speakers from the games industry and learn about the business and education opportunities to enter the field of game development", says Jason Chu, Chief Operating Officer of DigiPen.

These top video game industry experts will share their knowledge and insights of the game industry where students can learn and be inspired to be best game specialists of the future” said LMI Asia Managing Director Jorg Zeissig.

亚洲电玩研讨会学生日是由DigiPen科技学院(新加坡分院)所赞助的。学生日出席的人物计有:Claude Comair (DigiPen科技学院总裁兼院长)、Joonmo Kwon(Nexon公司总裁)、Henry Jenkins III(MIT教授)、Claude Langlais(育碧软件Ubisoft代表、刺客教条的技术主任)。当天还会有个名为“电玩公司寻觅后起之秀的元素”的小组讨论会,出席这场讨论会的电玩研发商计有美商艺电(EA)、国际游戏开发商协会(IGDA)、育碧软件(Ubisoft)和Lucasfilm Animation Singapore。

DigiPen 的首席营运主任Jason Chu 表示,“DigiPen非常荣幸能够参加这一届亚洲电玩大会的学生日,这学生日将能够让学生们有机会聆听世界级的电玩领域主讲者的演讲,同时也能够了解这电玩领域的商业与教育先机。”
