YEYLOL unveils smart digital home system powered by Microsoft cloud computing platform

All-in-one YEYLOL Digital Home System designed as the entertainment centerpiece for any living room

PETALING JAYA, 21 June 2012 – YEYLOL Technology Sdn Bhd announced today the launch of its YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System, an all-in-one device powered by Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud computing platform. Designed as an effective and innovative platform for the entire family, the YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System brings together four distinct yet important pillars - Multimedia, Information, Communication and Education.

The YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System is specifically designed to be easy to use for all family members, thanks to its friendly graphical user interface and navigation features. Featuring a built-in karaoke system with intelligent search, Blu-ray player, 19-inch digital photo frame, a 2 terabyte encrypted hard disk, 9,000 licensed songs and a host of other applications, the YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System truly offers a revolutionary way for family members to spend quality time together.

“By using Microsoft’s cloud platform, we are able to provide a wealth of content and new applications that are always up to date,” said Tan Jian Sing, Director of YEYLOL Technology Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of HMC International Sdn Bhd. “With our YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System, users are assured that all multimedia, information, communication and educational content are instantly delivered into their living rooms.”

Another unique feature in the YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System is that content and applications are updated automatically via Microsoft’s cloud platform every time the device connects to the Internet.

“The YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System is a great example of how a consumer or family-based device has successfully leveraged the power that Microsoft Windows Azure can deliver,” said Peter Tam, Director of Local Software Innovations, Microsoft Malaysia.

Bringing the cloud closer to home

More often than not, a cloud computing infrastructure is typically associated with enterprise-based applications for businesses or as a tool to meet the needs of large scale computing. Indeed, the cloud has become an IT buzz word that is largely contained within the large enterprise market segments.

However, cloud computing has a much larger potential and Microsoft is helping local ISVs take advantage of Windows Azure by enabling them to create solutions that meet the needs of their customers. By leveraging Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud computing platform, local ISVs have the potential to increase revenues while decreasing application development costs. Today, Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure already supports more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses, and Microsoft is continuing to invest to increase capacity.

“Customers around the world are choosing Microsoft’s cloud platform because we have more breadth, depth and commitment in the cloud than any of our competitors,” said Microsoft’s Tam.

Currently, there are more than 70,000 songs available on the cloud platform and users are able to purchase these songs using their credit card or prepaid coupons that are available at selected retail outlets. “Today, users can easily and securely access our YEYLOL e-store to purchase new karaoke songs and in the near future, movies as well – all in the comfort of their own living room,” said YEYLOL’s Tan.

The YEYLOL Smart Digital Home System is available for purchase today and is priced at RM6,999 RRP. The device has a 1-year warranty while the touch screen display comes with a 5-year warranty. For a complete list of YEYLOL dealers, visit http://www.yeylol.com/YeylolCorp/WebUI/WTB.aspx
