iOM Introduces New Business Intelligence Solution to Meet Increasing Demand for Business Analytics Among SMEs

Singapore Firm introduces own-developed software solution to target cost-conscious SMEs

Singapore. May 9, 2013 – iOM today announced the release of iOM Business Intelligence (BI), a cost-effective business intelligence solution targeted at the small and medium enterprise (SME) market in Singapore and the region.

Tailored to meet the specific business needs of SMEs, iOM BI is designed to provide cost-effective business analytics to give historical, current and predictive views of business operations for strategic planning and informed decision-making. It leverages the growing demand from SMEs for harnessing technology as a strategic business tool, and offers an accessible solution to help sharpen their competitive edge.

According to findings from the 2012 SME Development Survey conducted by DP Information Group, a leading provider of credit and business information services in Singapore, SMEs are increasingly turning to technology for greater competitive edge, with a healthy 65 per cent already doing so with aims to bolster their innovation capabilities.

“An on-demand business analytics system such as iOM BI offers SMEs both flexibility and scalability as they grow their business,” said John Salmon, Vice President at iOM. “Its web-based feature offers an intelligent dashboard for viewing market variables in a dynamic environment, with the advantage of accessing business data easily and readily across multiple hand-held devices such as tablets and smartphones.”

Designed and developed in Singapore based on the Agile software development methodology, iOM BI caters to all industry types and across regions, and features capabilities that rival other BI offerings from global technology vendors. The company plans to tap onto its established network of channel partners to make the solution globally available.

From analysing patterns and trends to assisting in decision making, iOM BI functionalities include: analysing sales trends, tracking customer buying habits, managing finances, evaluating sales and marketing campaign effectiveness, predicting market demand, analysing vendor relationships as well as assessing staffing needs and performances.

These functionalities provide a single source (Data Cube) through which to analyse an organisation’s information from multiple databases (such as MS SQL, IBM DB2, Oracle, etc) through data mining, warehousing, and extraction using iOM BI. The resulting single source offers not only historical but also current views of operations, based on scheduled updates of the Data Cube.

Furthermore, iOM EZ Reports, as part of the iOM BI, is designed to enable users to set up their own reports on a self-service basis without the need for technical assistance. Once the Data Cube has been designed and the various data sources linked with the scheduled updates through iOM BI, EZ Reports allows the user to “drag-and-drop” different data elements and create their own reports inclusive of graphical analysis. The reports also have drill down capability enabling information to be analysed down to transaction level.

“iOM BI not only offers data collection functionalities, but more importantly, it also analyses data using analytical tools and enhances the discipline to integrate the resulting knowledge acquired into an organisation’s planning cycle and strategic assessment,” added Salmon.
