Intel Malaysia and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to empower youths nationwide with digital literacy and basic entrepreneurial skills

Intel Malaysia signs Memorandum of Understanding to provide Intel® Learn Easy Steps and Entrepreneurship Basics training programs to the Ministry of Youth and Sports

• Intel Malaysia signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to provide Intel® Learn Easy Steps and Intel® Entrepreneurship Basics training programs at National Youth Skill Training Institutes nationwide.
• Intel Malaysia will provide program training to National Youth Skill Training Institutes trainers who will in turn train students that attend these institutes.

KUALA LUMPUR, December 27, 2013 – Intel Malaysia and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has recently announced plans to provide the youth of Malaysia with digital literacy skills required for the development of and effective participation in a knowledge-based society.

At a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony, Dr. Anjan Ghosh, Regional Director, Corporate Affairs (Asia Pacific) Intel Corporation presented the Youth and Sports Minister Encik Khairy Jamaluddin with the Intel® Learn Easy Steps and Intel® Entrepreneurship Basics training programs.

The Intel® Learn Easy Steps is a training module suited for adult and youth learners with little or no experience with computers, and who are in need of basic technology skills. The Intel E-Basics on the other hand is a starter toolkit which contains context-based learning and modules on the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. The complete toolkit aims to enable and empower entrepreneurs to get started, develop and run their business more effectively and efficiently with appropriate technology usage.

These materials will facilitate the educating of National Youth Skill Training Institutes trainers who will in turn teach the thousands of students that attend these institutes nationwide.

Khairy. “The Ministry is honored to be working together with Intel Malaysia in empowering our youth with digital literacy and basic entrepreneurial skills. With these comprehensive training programs offered to our students, we’re confident in unlocking their full potential to become successful businessmen and women.”

With over 10,000 students attending these institutes annually, this joint effort between Intel Malaysia and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has the potential to greatly improve the digital literacy level of Malaysia as well as the capability to encourage and foster the growth of the country’s digital economy.

Speaking at the MoU signing, Dr. Anjan Ghosh said, “We are delighted to find a synergy between Intel’s commitment & the Ministry’s vision to build the next generation of skilled and competent knowledge workers in support of Malaysia’s national agenda. We are deeply encouraged by the foresight of the Ministry in providing multiple opportunities for youth to be trained and skilled for the demands of the future workforce of this nation.”

"The signing of this MoU is an extension of our commitment to Malaysia, especially in promoting and supporting digital literacy and entrepreneurship through our programs Intel® Learn Easy Steps and Intel® Entrepreneurship Basics,” Dr. Anjan added. “Under the terms of this MoU, Intel Malaysia will provide the Intel® Learn Easy Steps and Intel® Entrepreneurship Basics program curriculum to the Ministry, and facilitate the training of senior trainers. These senior trainers will in turn deliver program to the students of the National Youth Skill Training Institutes nationwide.”
