GALAXY Wonderland: A Celebration of Home

Award-winning Yuna Zarai unveils her latest single and music video

Kuala Lumpur, 5 February 2013 – ‘Home’, the title of Yuna Zarai’s latest single and music video, made its official debut yesterday after much excitement amongst the singer-songwriter’s fans. This was the outcome of a musical journey made possible with the Samsung GALAXY Note II and the many Malaysian stories submitted through the GALAXY Wonderland campaign.

For three months, Samsung called out to Malaysians to submit their ideas of the unique qualities of our nation through the galaxywonderland.my portal. May it be a hidden travel spot or a culinary favourite among the locals, these are ideas from locals who feel deeply about their country being a Wonderland.

“The GALAXY Wonderland campaign fuses the diverse essence of Malaysia’s soul into a universal language – music. Our novel approach to create music and content with the GALAXY Note II demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to always deliver enriching and unique experiences,” said Kwon Jae Hoon, Managing Director, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

With over 4,500 submissions, Yuna selected five unique ideas that sparked an inspiration for music within her. Subsequently, Yuna’s best friends became her eyes and ears; exploring selected personal Wonderland stories and sharing their findings with her.

Yuna’s creative journey in GALAXY Wonderland, inspired by the GALAXY Note II, has been documented in a six-episode series on Astro Ria, culminating in the final episode, which will feature the music video of ‘Home’ on Saturday, 16 February.

“For me, being away from Malaysia can be difficult sometimes. Working on the GALAXY Wonderland has been a joy as it connects me with home. My hope for the song is that it resonates within the hearts of people – near and far. More than that, I hope for people to be inspired by the music video that was borne of personal Malaysian Wonderland stories,” said Yuna Zarai.

Yuna collaborated extensively with AG Coco, guitarist of local rock band, HUJAN, in composing the single for ‘Home’. She also worked closely with award-winning filmmaker Quek Shio Chuan to create the music video, filmed entirely with the GALAXY Note II.

Highlighting the unique and diverse aspects that define Malaysia as a Wonderland, the submissions to galaxywonderland.my included quirky Hornbills, adorable Orang Utans and even colourful renditions of Air Bandung. These are the elements of Malaysia that make its people proud.

Building on the initial collaboration between Samsung and Yuna – the award-winning Sparkle Project – the GALAXY Wonderland is a musical voyage brought to life by the Samsung GALAXY Note II to celebrate Malaysia’s identity through its culture, places, and art.
