Winners of four of the games, ie StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, FIFA 11 and League Of Legends will represent Malaysia at the WCG grand final considered as the world’s largest e-sports Olympics, in Busan, Korea from December 8 – 11. The 5th official game is Counter Strike 1.6.

“WCG Malaysia offers an excellent platform for gamers throughout the country to come together to compete, enjoy and respect the e-game environment. The fact that we are seeing a significant growth in the number of people playing e-games each year is testament to the growing popularity of e-sports.

“We have many good gamers and it is important that we nurture their skills and allow them the chance to compete on the global stage alongside other world-class players,” said Shaifubahrim Saleh, PIKOM President at the opening of WCG Malaysia 2011 today.

The finals of the five official games will take place on Sunday, October 9 on the stage located at the ground floor of the PIKOM ICT Mall.
