Kuala Lumpur to be the only city in Southeast Asia to showcase Global Event
KUALA LUMPUR, APRIL 25, 2014 – Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) will be organizing the “Big Data Week 2014 @ Kuala Lumpur!” from 2nd-11th May 2014. This initiative aims to help Malaysia’s ICT industry build up its capabilities in Big Data Analytics (BDA), and spur endless opportunities for BDA products and services.
Kuala Lumpur is the only city in Southeast Asia to be given the honour to showcase Big Data Week and MDeC as the main driver of the showcase has lined up a number of partner events for local and regional participants throughout the week. The Big Data Week 2014 @ Kuala Lumpur will kick off with a networking party hosted by VLT to share insights with attendees on how Big Data Analytics is used in a few of the top digital companies in Malaysia. This will be followed by MDeC’s showcase event themed “Big Data: Endless Possibilities” and other exciting activities such as full-day hackathons, mining Facebook to discover yourself, and journalism and Big Data.
“Big Data is not simply a technology proposition, but also how organisations can structure new business models, drive into new markets and target growth more effectively. The sooner businesses realise this, and align their IT and business teams accordingly the faster they will see the benefits and gain a competitive advantage from Big Data. Recognising this, MDeC is once again pleased to host the Big Data Week in Kuala Lumpur for the second time. Themed “Harnessing Value from Your Data Variety”, there’s plenty of knowledge sharing in store. So, if you're involved with web apps, enterprise apps, data analytics, financial apps or storage at massive scale, or simply want to learn more about Big Data and the opportunities, I encourage to you be a part of the Big Data Week” said Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, CEO, MDeC.
The Big Data Week 2014 @ Kuala Lumpur! is organised with the support of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, and Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).
The 3rd edition of Big Data Week will also debut on the 5th of May in over 30 cities worldwide as the largest crowd-sourced festival of events, meet-ups, workshops and hackathons focused on the social, political, technological and commercial impacts of data. RM10,000 in prize money for open and RM5000 for students
Kuala Lumpur, April 24, 2014 – The Malaysia Software Testing Board (MSTB) today announces the launch of the inaugural Software Test Design Competition, a national-level competition that will test the software testing skills and creativity of participants.
Adopting the theme of Testing IT Right!, the competition urges participants to come up with an original Test Design based on the Test Object provided, in the form of specifications for a real software application.
"At the same time, it is also intended to spur the interest of university students to choose software testing as a career option."
Modelled after a similar event held annually in Japan, the competition is divided into Open and University categories. The Open Category offers a cash prizes of RM10,000 for the Open category and RM5,000 for the University category. The two categories will be given Test Objects of different complexity for the competition.
The Open category is open to all Malaysian practicing software test professionals and entries can be submitted individually or in groups (up to five members). While the competition is primarily targeted for Malaysian citizens, groups of five may include one suitable qualified foreign national as a member.
Meanwhile, the University category is limited to students undertaking courses relevant to SQA and software testing in Malaysian universities. Entries for this category must be in groups of five members or less, and includes a lecturer as the group’s supervisor.
Preliminary judging is expected to be held in July and the final round will be held on September 9, 2014. The Prize-giving ceremony will take place during the closing of SOFTEC 2014 on September 11. Judging criteria will be based on elements including effectiveness, efficiency and creativity of solutions submitted. The panel of judges will be headed by Dr Nishi Yasuharu, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Informatics at University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo.
In addition to increase awareness on Software Quality Assurance (SQA) practices, MSTB hopes that this competition will also highlight the important roles of software testers in the quest for software quality excellence.

Networking the Stadium
Allied Telesis Partners with Panasonic to Provide the ICT Infrastructure for Mato Grosso Special Secretariat (SECOPA)
SÃO PAULO, Brazil and SAN JOSE, Calif. – April 23, 2014 — Allied Telesis, an industry leader in the deployment and provision of IP Triple Play networks and networking infrastructures, announces its partnership with Panasonic in the creation of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure for the Arena Pantanal stadium, built for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá, in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, will be the venue for many of the 2014 World Cup soccer matches, which begins in June. The stadium’s capacity is approximately 43,000 people, and it has a flexible structure to adapt it to any future requirements. Locally, the new stadium is known as “O Verdão” (The Big Green), after the sustainable approach used for its construction and maintenance.
When completed, the infrastructure that was designed and provided by Allied Telesis and Panasonic will include telephony (IP and PABX), security CCTV (IP cameras), Internet access, digital signage, access control (RFID card readers and turnstiles), as well as additional functions such as sound systems, and will deliver a world-class “intelligent stadium” to the Mato Grosso Special Secretariat
(SECOPA).
Allied Telesis and Panasonic first began collaboration on the project in 2013. The main focus of the initial phase was on the Allied Telesis and Panasonic IP surveillance and IP PABX solutions. With the strong Allied Telesis reputation for designing and delivering high quality solutions, capable of successfully handling large volumes of multimedia traffic, and having a great deal of experience in this field, the partnership continued to develop. Allied Telesis solutions engineers were chosen by Panasonic to collaborate and contribute to the design and planning of firewall specifications, definitions of servers for the services and dimensions of the network, for the entire arena solution.
The international significance of the events that will take place in the venue requires very high availability of all services, as even minimal downtime during any match would not be acceptable. For this reason, Allied Telesis and Panasonic devoted significant resources to the design and engineering of the solution, and the successful integration of all parts of the system.
The completed project includes two data centers, located on either side of the stadium—each capable of independently supporting the entire traffic load of the stadium at its peak. These data centers link more than twenty operation rooms, located throughout the stadium, from which all operations can be integrated and controlled. The Allied Telesis network has been designed to be resilient and ensure full operation at all times, connecting all equipment and controls.
The synergy of the partnership between Allied Telesis and Panasonic will continue to offer benefits to the end user as the project moves through completion and commissioning, to subsequent use during the tournament itself. These benefits will include training for staff on the installation, project management consultancy, remote support, and on-site installation shadowing to ensure that knowledge and skills can be transferred to those who will operate the stadium on a day-to-day basis after handover.
Francesco Stramezzi, general manager – EMEA and CSA, Allied Telesis, said, “The World Cup will be an important event for the region because the eyes of the world will be upon it. This is not only an exciting and important project for Allied Telesis, but it will also be a global opportunity for us to showcase the flexibility, reliability, and environmental sustainability of our solutions. We have been given an opportunity to collaborate with partners who are world leaders in their fields, as a result of the reputation and quality of our staff and products, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of our network solutions.”
Masahiro Shinada, vice president, Panasonic do Brasil Ltda., commented, “The partnership between Panasonic and Allied Telesis is founded on our common experiences in this field. Allied Telesis solutions have high quality and are capable of successfully handling large volumes of multimedia traffic; and Panasonic contributes with paramount solutions for surveillance and voice solutions.”

Mobile banking increases but many feel apathy towards adoption
Indifference, more than anxiety, is now the bigger threat to growth
KUALA LUMPUR, 23 April 2014 – BuzzCity the leading global mobile advertising network today releases its latest quarterly report on the mobile internet. The report includes a spotlight on mobile banking adoption and reveals mobile users’ attitudes towards mobile banking.
In the first quarter of 2014, mobile advertising in Malaysia grew by 8% as value added services began the year aggressively promoting premium mobile content across various operator networks.
Spotlight on Mobile Banking
Not surprisingly, the adoption of mobile banking has increased; 27% of adults who use the mobile internet now find mobile banking “easy and useful” compared to 21% last year. There is, however, apathy amongst potential users, with almost a third of those surveyed (32%) simply not feeling that they “need” mobile banking.
Results suggest that security fears seem to be reduced; 24% of those surveyed this quarter won’t mobile bank because of security fears - a significant improvement from 2013 when 29% felt concerned about security issues.
According to BuzzCity, financial services will need to think about other factors that affect responses to their campaigns as 14% feel that they need to “be offered” from their banks. Parallel with this is consumers confusion; 11% feel mobile banking is too complicated or unreliable (10%) and many aren’t aware if their devices can even be used to activate the service.
Mobile Based Banks
The report also looks at the most popular banks among mobile users. In Malaysia, Maybank is the most popular bank, followed by CIMB Bank, Public Bank and AM Bank in 4th place. Notable in the report is the emergence and rising popularity of ‘mobile-based’ banks (where accounts are linked to SIM cards) in developing markets. These new mobile banks, catering specifically to the mobile- only consumers have gained widespread adoption and a rapid market share in a relatively short time.
The BuzzCity mobile banking research was conducted in March 2014 amongst 6000 adults in 20 benchmark countries.

Schneider Electric Launches New Cooling System Design to Match IT Heat Load in Data Centers
Intelligent controls of the InRow Chilled Water products help maximise efficiency and address the unpredictable demands of today's IT environments to improve data center availability.
Kuala Lumpur, 22 April 2014 – Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today launched InRow Chilled Water Cooling 300mm system for medium to large data centres. This next generation cooling system is designed for modern and increasingly high density data centres that generate higher heat densities, which, to make adequate cooling even more difficult, fluctuate in accordance with the IT load.
“In today’s data centres, traditional cooling approaches involve complex air distribution systems that tend to be unpredictable and leave many customers guessing where the cold air goes. With InRow Chilled Water 300mm system, Schneider Electric has taken the guesswork out of data center cooling. Placing the unit in the same row with the racks moves the source of cooling closer to the heat load. This minimizes air mixing, provides a predictable cooling architecture and nearly eliminates the need for make-up humidification, typically required in data centers to deal with static electrical discharge that cool air could cause”, said John Atherton, Vice President of APC by Schneider Electric Malaysia.
According to Research and Markets: Global Data Center Cooling Market Report 2013 – 2018, in 2013, the telecom and IT industries accounted for the largest share of total data centre cooling market, and the trend is expected to continue until 2018. In Malaysia, Financial Services, Telecommunications, IT, Healthcare, Government and Oil and Gas, are some of the verticals where datacentre cooling finds applicability.
“The energy consumption of the data centre industry has continued to climb the ranks of priorities for data center owners, operators and the country at large. Tightened budgets also mean that companies in Malaysia have to start looking for ways to reduce energy costs”, added Atherton.
When upgrading the existing or designing new data centre with Schneider Electric’s InRow Cooling as the primary cooling system, businesses can realise significant benefits by going with purely row cooling vs. a traditional approach. Those benefits include:
Lower energy costs by avoiding the over-provisioning of perimeter cooling units, many of which have fixed-speed fans that chew up energy
Eliminating the cost of installing and maintaining a raised floor to distribute air to IT equipment.
No fighting between row and perimeter coolers
Lower capital expenses by eliminating over-conservative data centre designs with respect to cooling
Simpler redundancy by eliminating the need for redundant perimeter cooling units
Lower maintenance costs by eliminating maintenance contracts for perimeter coolers
The new InRow Chiller water unit comes in 2 options – S for ‘Standard’ CW temperature specifically targeting Data Centers with set point on the Chilled Water of 7/12 dec C; H for ‘High’ CW temperatures typical of Data Centers designed around Free-Cooling or Economizations.

Carry Small, Capture All with the new Samsung NX mini SMART Camera
Shoot outstanding images in style with Samsung's slimmest interchangeable-lens camera
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – April 21, 2014 – Samsung Malaysia Electronics announced today the launch of the NX mini, Samsung's slimmest and lightest interchangeable-lens camera to-date. The portable and stylish design of the NX mini SMART Camera, along with its stunning image quality makes it the “go-to” device for great photography, allowing users to capture special moments in stunning detail. With NFC and WiFi capabilities, it allows users to take impressive shots that can then be shared quickly and easily, for friends to enjoy in real time.
"The NX mini has both style and substance, perfect for trendsetters looking for a fun way to capture their life in outstanding photo quality,” said Lee Dong Yong, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics. “Ensuring our products reflect consumer trends has always been a priority, and this approach is exemplified by the NX mini, with features such as a 3.0-inch Flip-up Display and wide angle lens exclusively designed to address the global passion for selfies. Its lightweight design also means that it can slip into a pocket, for photography anywhere and everywhere.”
The 'selfie' has found a permanent place in vocabularies across the world in recent years and its popularity shows no sign of stopping. Reflecting this recent consumer trend, the NX mini has a range of exclusive features which allow photographers to effortlessly indulge in the global trend of self-shooting. With a 75.2mm (3.0-inch) Flip-up and Touch Display that rotates 180-degrees, users can frame images of themselves perfectly. The NX mini’s powerful optical performance provides crisp, clear, and quality images, to ensure that photography subjects are always looking their best. With the ultra-slim 9mm wide angle lens, the NX mini can capture group shots from an arm’s length, so users can easily frame themselves and be part of group memories.
Maintaining a flattering pose while also attempting to press the shutter release button when self-shooting can be tricky; therefore the NX mini's new Wink shot feature makes it the perfect hands-free device to capture the real you. Users simply need to set up their shot and wink at the camera to capture an image. Once a wink is detected, the NX mini takes a shot automatically after two seconds, without having to press any buttons.
Despite its slim appearance, the NX mini packs a big performance into its small body. Its large 1-inch type 20.5MP BSI CMOS Sensor enables users to capture high quality images, ensuring no details are missed. With the highest resolution in its class, pictures captured with the NX mini burst with vivid colour.
The NX mini's impressively fast 6fps Continuous Shot mode allows photographers to take continuous shots, so every detail can be captured and no moments are missed. The fast 1/16000 sec Shutter Speed freezes fast moving scenes, allowing for the dramatic capture of motion in crisp detail, without blurring.
Tag & Go, Simply Tap to Share Memories
The NX mini features advanced WiFi and NFC integration that makes it seamless to share images. Exclusive to Samsung, Tag & Go connectivity allows the NX mini to pair with NFC-enabled devices, such as smartphones or tablets, simply by touching the two together. Once paired, users can:
• Select and transfer multiple images to the paired mobile devices through Mobile Link;
• Send images to up to four devices with Group Share, eliminating the time-consuming and repetitive process of sending pictures to multiple friends;
• Control the NX mini via a smartphone with Remote View Finder Pro;
• Use the camera as a Baby Monitor. When noise is detected, the paired smartphone is activated via an app, allowing parents to see if they need to attend to their child.
Additionally, extensive storage options are integrated into the NX mini and images can be uploaded directly from the camera to the cloud for an easy storage solution. Users can upload their pictures directly from the NX mini to both Dropbox and Flickr, the popular photo-sharing site. Dropbox provides 2GB of free storage to new users, accessible from just about any device and with Flickr, users can upload up to one terabyte of images. With all the storage and sharing technology built into the NX mini, it is easier than ever to share and store beautiful images.
Specialised NX-M Lenses for NX mini
Samsung has introduced three NX mini lenses (NX-M) which are optimised for use with the NX mini body, providing a variety of options to meet individual shooting preferences.
• The NX-M 9mm F3.5 ED lens has an ultra-slim design and its wide angle makes it the ideal choice for those capturing landscapes and self-portraits. This lens also provides the optimum angle for taking selfies, ensuring the camera becomes the go-to choice for those looking to share the best of themselves.
• The NX-M 9-27mm F3.5-5.6 ED OIS lens is a micro-compact zoom lens with a stylish design and is small enough to comfortably fit into pockets and bags.
This compact-sized standard zoom lens offers a variety of shooting options from wide-angle to telephoto shots, with optical image stabilisation for sharp results.
NX mini owners will also be able to use 15 NX lenses with the device by using a specialised NX-M Mount Adapter (ED-MA4NXM). These lenses are sold separately.
New Era of ‘Mega Breaches’ Signals Bigger Payouts and Shifting Behaviour for Cybercriminals
Malaysia Ranked 33rd Among Countries Globally on Internet Security Threat Activities
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – 21 April 2014 – After lurking in the shadows for the first ten months of 2013, cybercriminals unleashed the most damaging series of cyberattacks in history. Symantec Corp.’s (Nasdaq: SYMC) Internet Security Threat Report Volume 19 (ISTR 19), shows a significant shift in cybercriminal behaviour, revealing the bad guys are plotting for months before pulling off huge heists – instead of executing quick hits with smaller rewards.
In 2013, there was a 62 percent increase in the number of data breaches globally from the previous year, resulting in more than 552 million identities exposed – proving cybercrime remains a real and damaging threat to consumers and businesses alike. One mega breach can possibly be worth 50 smaller attacks.
“While the level of sophistication continues to grow among cyber attackers, what was surprising last year was the cyber attackers’ willingness to be a lot more patient – waiting to strike until the reward is bigger and better,” said Eric Hoh, Symantec’s Vice President for Asia South and Korea regions.“With cybercriminals constantly innovating and enhancing their modes of attacks, companies globally and in Malaysia cannot afford to let their guard down. The consequences of complacency can be far-reaching, causing commercial and reputation damage.”
Nigel Tan, Director of Systems Engineering at Symantec Malaysia said, “Malaysia’s Internet security profile declined last year and ranked 33rd among countries globally on Internet security threat activities. This is a clear indication that cybercriminals have not slowed down, in fact they are increasing the efficiency of their campaigns and have their eye on Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) with less than 500 employees, in particular the healthcare and transport/utility sectors in Malaysia.”
Defense is Harder than Offense
The size and scope of data breaches globally is exploding, putting the trust and reputation of businesses at risk, and increasingly compromising consumers’ personal information – from credit card numbers and medical records to passwords and bank account details. Each of the eight top data breaches in 2013 resulted in the loss of tens of millions of data records. By comparison, 2012 only had a single data breach reach that threshold.
“For cybercriminals, the potential for huge paydays means large-scale cyber attacks are here to stay. Companies of all sizes need to re-examine, re-think and possibly re-architect their security posture,” said David Rajoo, Principal Consultant at Symantec Malaysia.
Targeted attacks were up 91 percent globally in 2013 and lasted an average of three times longer compared to 2012. Personal assistants and those working in public relations were the two most targeted professions – cybercriminals use them as a stepping stone toward higher-profile targets like celebrities or business executives.
“What is interesting is the targeted attacks became slow and low as cyber attackers increased the number of campaigns they ran, but decreased the emails used and the number of people they attacked in each campaign. It’s almost as if they brought in efficiency experts to improve their attack campaigns,” David explained.
How to Maintain Cyber Resiliency
While the increasing flow of data from smart devices, apps and other online services is tantalising to cybercriminals, there are steps businesses and consumers can take to better protect themselves – whether it be from a mega data breach, targeted attack or common spam. Symantec recommends the following best practices:
For Businesses:
Know your data: Protection must focus on the information – not the device or data centre. Understand where your sensitive data resides and where it is flowing to help identify the best policies and procedures to protect it.
Educate employees: Provide guidance on information protection, including company policies and procedures for protecting sensitive data on personal and corporate devices.
Implement a strong security posture: Strengthen your security infrastructure with data loss prevention, network security, endpoint security, encryption, strong authentication and defensive measures, including reputation-based technologies.
For Consumers:
Be security savvy: Passwords are the keys to your kingdom. Use password management software to create strong, unique passwords for each site you visit and keep your devices – including smartphones – updated with the latest security software.
Be vigilant: Review bank and credit card statements for irregularities, be cautious when handling unsolicited or unexpected emails and be wary of online offers that seem too good to be true – they usually are.
Know who you work with: Familiarise yourself with policies from retailers and online services that may request your banking or personal information. As a best practice, visit the company’s official website directly (as opposed to clicking on an emailed link) if you must share sensitive information.
Axis Communications (Axis) Introduces three new series of network cameras, Axis' first 4K camera
The AXIS P1428-E Network Camera is the top-of-the-line model in the compact AXIS P14 Series. With 4K technology, it offers the latest generation of HDTV standards and features a resolution four times higher than HDTV 1080p. The new AXIS P1428-E is ideal for overlooking large areas like parking lots and public squares while also being able to capture fine details.
Axis Communications, the world leader in network video, today announces its first 4K resolution camera, AXIS P1428-E. The 4K standard is defined and approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and offers a video resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels at 30 frames per second.
The AXIS P1428-E Network Camera is the top-of-the-line model in the compact AXIS P14 Series, designed for outdoor and demanding indoor environments. The AXIS P14 Series consist of seven network camera models ranging from HDTV 1080p to 4K allowing customers to select the camera that best meets their specific requirements and budget, offering efficient and reliable video surveillance in any environment. The new AXIS P1428-E offers a number of value adding features such as remote zoom and focus, a built-in slot for micro SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards and I/O connectors for interfacing with external devices.
“Simply put, 4K offers four times the resolution of HDTV 1080p. It is an established industry standard both in motion picture production and for consumer displays with a dramatic pace of market penetration. Now it's time to make use of this new technology also in video surveillance,” says Regional Country Manager, Mr. Ivan Tjahjadi.
“An important factor in the development of this first Axis 4K camera was to bring the new industry standard into a product series intended to be implemented into practical use from day one. Initially, it is likely that most customers will be using a standard HDTV monitor. 4K makes it possible to enhance any portion of the screen without losing details. To manage bandwidth consumption, users can view the live video stream in HD 1080p and take advantage of 4K recordings for forensic purposes.”
Axis was among the very first companies to introduce HDTV network cameras in the surveillance market. The introduction of the 4K technology into our product portfolio is a natural step in the journey to respond to customer demand.
The AXIS P1428-E Network Camera with 4K resolution is planned to be available in Q3 2014 through Axis’ distribution channels at a suggested retail price of $999.

Doodle 4 Malaysia, and Get Featured on Malaysia Day
First ever Google Doodle competition now open to all Malaysian school students
Kuala Lumpur, 21st April 2014: Google today announced the first ‘Doodle 4 Google’ competition in Malaysia, inviting school students to showcase fun, creativity and originality by submitting unique doodle designs with a local flavour.
Doodles are the spontaneous changes made to the Google logo that have become a much-loved part of the Internet and done to celebrate holidays, anniversaries and the lives of famous artists, pioneers and scientists who have helped shape history. Doodles are usually created by Google doodlers but the company does make special exceptions, as in the case of Doodle 4 Google Malaysia.
The winner not only gets bragging rights and joins a circle of elite non-Googlers who have designed doodles, but also has his or her creation featured on google.com.my on Malaysia Day, 16 September 2014.
Malaysia joins a list of several countries where the competition has been held over the years, where children are invited to create doodles. And although this is the first such competition held here, it’s not the first time Google has created a Malaysian-centric doodle. Merdeka Day, the 2013 Elections and Yasmin Ahmad’s 56th birthday, among others, have taken the spotlight on google.com.my.
Google Malaysia Country Manager Sajith Sivanandan said doodles reflected Google's personality and love of innovation, with an emphasis on designing fun things.
“When designing around the theme 'Malaysia to me is...' we would like students to consider what they appreciate about Malaysia and what makes this country loved by them,” he said. “This can include anything about culture, diversity, people, food, landmarks or any unique images that represents Malaysia to them, but imagination and creativity are what we value.
“Most of all, we want students to have fun!”
Doodles have been a part of Google's history since 1998, when Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin placed a stick figure drawing behind the second ‘o’ in the word Google as a message to users that they were “out of the office” attending a music and art festival. Since then, doodles have celebrated and marked worldwide events, anniversaries and holidays designed on, around and through the Google logo on the site's homepage.
Today, Google does hundreds of doodles a year around the world. Apart from international anniversaries and holidays, doodles have also been produced for the birthdays of several noted artists and scientists including Andy Warhol, Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Louis Braille, Percival Lowell and Edvard Munch, among others.
The closing date for Malaysia’s Doodle 4 Google contest submission is 15 July 2014. To download entry forms, competition rules and for more information, visit google.com.my/doodle4google.

High quality interaction
Now, with Google Drive as a new save destination, users can save their photos in the original resolution in either JPEG or CR2 format. Additionally, CiG also supports videos in MOV, MP4 and AVI formats with a limit of 15 minutes or 2GB per video.
In promoting knowledge and interaction between users and visitors, CiG can be set to allow the display of technical information about each photo. Viewers are able to see which camera model is used to capture the photo, as well as its lens and exposure settings such as ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Users are also able to search their photos by camera settings, such as finding photos shot at ISO 200, or photos taken at 1/1250 shutter speed. With this function, other viewers who have been approved by users to see the information can learn more about capturing photos and subsequently improve their photography skills.
Free access for Canon users
Users of selected Canon digital compact cameras, DSLRs and digital video are able to access the CiG free of charge at the links below. All they would have to do is register once with CiG to enjoy its service. However, should an account be inactive for a year, the CiG’s automated maintenance facility will delete all data within the account. An email notification will be sent prior to that.
