HP Drives Accelerated Momentum of HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press Worldwide

New solutions, product enhancements introduced at China Print 2013

Kuala Lumpur, May 16, 2013 — HP today announced accelerated adoption of the B2-format HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, which is helping printing companies worldwide grow their businesses through increased efficiency and a wider range of digital print applications.

Momentum of the entire HP Digital Press Portfolio continues, with more than 6,000 HP Indigo Presses and 100 HP Inkjet Web Presses installed worldwide as of the end of January. Widespread market acceptance of these solutions, including explosive adoption in the Asia Pacific and Japan region (APJ), has driven the analog to digital transformation in the graphics industry and contributed to the strong growth of high-value digital pages.

HP also announced a series of new solutions and product upgrades for its digital press portfolio, enabling the commercial printing industry to expand capabilities and help increase profitability.

“Printing companies are facing immense pressure to expand their services and add new capabilities to remain competitive in the marketplace,” said Gido van Praag, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business, HP Asia Pacific and Japan. “HP’s expanded graphics portfolio, introduced one year ago at drupa 2012, is fueling the industry transformation from analog to digital printing by helping our customers expand their range of applications, go after high-value pages and grow their businesses.”

HP made the announcements in conjunction with China Print 2013, where HP is the largest digital printing exhibitor at Hall E1-002 of the New China International Exhibition Center.

Rapid adoption of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press
Printing companies around the world are taking advantage of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, with installations now complete in 11 countries which include China, Taiwan, India and Australia. The wider format of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press enables highly efficient imposition of most standard commercial printing jobs, facilitating high throughput and lower production costs.

Examples of customers that have recently adopted the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press include:
Avery Dennison added two HP Indigo 10000 Digital Presses to its China plant to strengthen regional operations and increase productivity to better service its customers in the retail apparel industry.
CTPS Digiprints added the new HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press to its Dongguan plant in China. This expands its current fleet of HP Indigo Digital Presses and HP Inkjet Web Presses  and allows for greater productivity and higher-value applications,
Netherlands-based Digital4 installed the press to take advantage of its wider format and bolster its digital print capabilities.
The Matlet Group, based in the United States, acquired the press to produce commercial and packaging applications, and to deliver new innovations to its customers.

Capturing new applications with HP Indigo Digital Presses
To help customers protect their investments and produce a broader range of high-value applications, HP is introducing new features for its best-selling HP Indigo Digital Presses.

The company has introduced a new red-fluorescing invisible ink for the HP Indigo 7000, 7500 and 7600 Digital Presses. Currently available on the HP Indigo 5600 Digital Press, HP Indigo ElectroInk UV Red is valuable for tracking and anti-counterfeiting features and offers printing companies greater application versatility and increased productivity. This new capability will be launched in Asia Pacific at China Print.

HP also introduced Enhanced Productivity Mode (EPM) for the HP Indigo 3550 Digital Press. EPM, which was introduced on all other HP Indigo Digital Presses last year, gives customers a competitive edge by reducing turnaround times and production costs. With EPM, color jobs use only three inks instead of four, without compromising print quality. This capability is expected to be available in Asia Pacific in June 2013.

Also at China Print, HP will feature the HP Indigo W7250 and WS6600 Digital Presses, a wide range of workflow solutions. and introduce the HP SmartStream Production Center which is designed to help PSPs increase productivity and efficiency of their HP Indigo digital presses.

The HP SmartStream Production Center is a first-of-its-kind(1) software-based production management system that is designed to address the challenges of efficiently receiving, producing and delivering high volumes of short-run print jobs. The system helps printing companies meet aggressive customer deadlines by improving job status visibility, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, and monitoring production, enabling more effective use of their capital equipment.

A versatile system, the HP SmartStream Production Center can fit into any production environment. It manages a high number of jobs received from multiple sources, including web portals, MIS systems, and prepress tools.  It then automatically routes them to multiple production platforms, regardless of whether they are HP Indigo Digital Presses or non-HP digital presses, offset presses and finishing equipment.

New solutions for HP Inkjet Web Presses
Since entering the production inkjet market in 2009, HP has helped many of the world’s leading book, transactional statement and direct mail printing companies improve productivity, reduce costs and grow their businesses into new application areas.

HP is developing new solutions designed to help printing companies maximize their return on investment in production inkjet equipment. new workflow and color management solutions include:

HP SmartStream Composer, a variable data printing (VDP) composition server for HP SmartStream Designer templates. Currently available for HP Indigo Presses, HP SmartStream Composer is now optimized to run at inkjet web press speed for a variety of applications. It is targeted at printers who generate personalized print products and are looking for a cost-effective VDP composition solution for HP Color Inkjet Web Presses.
HP SmartStream Web Press Color Studio, a comprehensive suite of tools and solutions for the HP Color Inkjet Web Press family, enables optimal inkjet color print quality by allowing PSPs to accurately check color quality before going to print. Using the solution helps PSPs achieve consistent color results from design through print. It includes soft proofing, the ability to create ICC color profiles, spot color matching aids, installation and on-site color training.

HP SmartStream Composer and HP SmartStream Web Press Color Studio are available in Asia Pacific.

More Versatility for Sign and Display Printing Customers
HP also announced new ink and expanded media options for its large-format sign and display portfolio, helping sign and display companies increase application value as well as
versatility.

The HP Scitex FB7600/FB7500 Enhanced Color Pack upgrade(1) provides a scalable ink option to better meet client color needs and deliver point-of-purchase (POP) applications with high image quality. Offering a six-, seven- or eight-color configuration(2) the first inks available for the color pack are the HP FB225 Orange and Light Black Scitex Inks(3).  HP FB225 Orange Scitex Ink provides a broader gamut for vivid colors with more realistic skin tones and improved spot matching for brand colors with increased analog-to-digital consistency. HP FB225 Light Black Scitex Ink creates smoother gray solids and improves neutrality. This ink can be added to the press’ six process colors, allowing PSPs to enhance image quality and achieve higher productivity.

High-value metallic printing solution for HP Scitex FB700/500 Industrial Printers
HP will also be showcasing at the booth a high-value metallic solution for HP Scitex FB700 and 500 Industrial Printers, supported by HP software partner Color-Logic. The Color-Logic software enables customers to produce metallic effects ideal for high-quality retail and POP applications, as well as package prototyping. The offering requires the Color-Logic Printers Design Suite & License, HP FB251 Scitex White Ink and HP-approved media for metallic substrates.

HP Digital Graphics Printing Portfolio Positions Asia-Pacific Printing Companies for Success

New Efficiencies and Applications drive adoption of HP’s latest digital printing portfolio

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 16 May 2013 — HP today showcased how its latest digital graphics printing portfolio positions Asia-Pacific printing companies for success by enabling them to achieve greater efficiencies and expand into new application areas.

China-based Hucais Group Co. Ltd, who has been leveraging HP Inkjet Web Presses including the T410, T350 presses for much of its publishing work, is now extending into general commercial printing and publishing with the new HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press.
CTPS Digiprints has automated its printing processes with HP Inkjet T410, T300 web presses as well as the HP Indigo W7250 Digital Press. Having achieved greater productivity, the leading printer in China has added the new HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press for greater efficiencies and higher-value applications.
Given its B2-size, the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press was easily integrated into the existing workflow of Hong Kong-based Wing Hung Group’s Dongguan facility, helping the company achieve a three-fold increase in productivity by fitting more impositions on each sheet.
Korea Studies Information (KSI) has leveraged the HP Indigo W7200 and 7500 Digital Presses and HP SmartStream Production Pro solution to develop web-to-print capabilities for enterprise customers and to enhance its print-on-demand services for organizations which include global publishers and academic institutions.
Mana Screen Inc. and Topbest Printing Corporation can now take full advantage of the growing number of short-run print jobs with HP’s digital printing presses; Topbest Printing Corporation has leveraged the HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press, while Mana Screen has installed the HP Scitex FB7600 Industrial Press to address their customers’ demand for shorter lead times on their key product line of graphics for gaming machines.

“Brand owners seeking to stand out with impactful communications are driving the demand for short print runs, print-on-demand services and customization,” said Gido van Praag, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business, HP Asia Pacific and Japan.”Printing companies across Asia Pacific are embracing the greater efficiency enabled by HP digital graphics printing platforms, which also present new opportunities with more applications.”

Rapid Speed of Innovation and Delivery to Seize New Opportunities
Many of the HP digital printing platforms launched at drupa last year are shipping in the region today. These include the HP Indigo 10000, W7250, 7600 and 5600 Digital Presses; the HP T410, T360 and T230 Color Inkjet Web Presses; HP Scitex FB7600 Industrial Presses; and the HP Designjet L28500 and L26500 Latex Printers.

The HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press will be publicly demonstrated for the first time in the region at China Print 2013, May 14 - 18 in Beijing. Several HP Indigo 10000 Presses have already installed in the region with early adopters already in China, Taiwan, India and Australia.

Strong Growth for Digital Printing in Asia Pacific
According to Smithers Pira(1), overall printing equipment in Asia Pacific is projected to grow at an annual rate of 2.5% between 2012 and 2017. Growth in demand for digital printing equipment over the same period is expected to be significantly higher at 9.4% per annum and no growth is expected in the sales of conventional printing equipment.

HP is also experiencing strong growth momentum in Asia Pacific, with demand coming from existing and new customers for its full digital graphics printing portfolio. China, which is HP’s second largest Indigo market globally, has seen rapid digital adoption.

HP continues to expand its digital print portfolio to help ensure it provides both the breadth and the end-to-end capabilities that printing companies need to be successful. In the packaging sector in particular, HP has focused on building a portfolio that addresses the vast digital opportunity. Its upcoming platforms will enable printing companies to take on new opportunities in flexible packaging and folding cartons.

Printing companies can also tap into HP’s powerful ecosystem of partners and customers. This is evident in the strong presence of more than 1000 customers and partners at the annual Dscoop Asia conference held in Beijing, China on 12-13 May, 2013.

hybris Commerce Suite integration with SAP now available for customers and partners via the hybris Extend marketplace

Singapore – May 15, 2013 - hybris, the world’s fastest-growing commerce platform provider ranked “leader” by both principal analyst firms, today announced that the hybris Commerce Suite can now be fully integrated with SAP and is available on the hybris Extend marketplace (http://www.hybris.com/en/partners/hybris-extend). The integration offers hybris customers and partners a way to facilitate fast and easy integration with SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). hybris will officially announce the integration at SAP’s Sapphire NOW event in Orlando (hybris booth number: 1633),

Based on hybris’ OmniCommerce strategy, this integration enables retailers and enterprises to provide a single, cohesive customer experience from any sales channel and touchpoint in the purchasing process through hybris’ open architecture. This avoids the "rip and replace" approaches used by many vendors. Instead, companies can leverage the potential of their total system landscape in new ways to provide an enhanced customer experience.

"One of the major challenges manufacturers and distributors face when executing an ecommerce strategy is how to easily and cost-effectively integrate their commerce system with their ERP system,” explained Patrick Finn, Vice President of Channels, Americas at hybris.

“With more than 100 customers globally already incorporating hybris' state-of-the art commerce platform with SAP, there is a proven model for this integration. However, the new framework is a great asset to our customers and channel partners as the integration process will now be faster, easier and cheaper. In addition, organizations can avoid expensive consulting, process and systems integration management time, and experience a more streamlined and effective process.”

Other benefits for both hybris customers and partners include:

 Reducing SAP integration development, saving time and money on hybris implementations
 Providing synchronization of catalog and transactional data between SAP ERP and hybris Commerce Suite
 Speeding up page load times through distributed data caching
 Calculating freight and tax based from SAP data, not costly 3rd party services
 Supporting real-time SAP inventory checks for low-inventory items

IDG Research, FalconStor Find Deduplication Technologies Drive Data Center Optimization

Survey highlights growing market for and proven benefits of deduplication in production environments

Kuala Lumpur 14 May 2013 — FalconStor Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), a market leader in disk-based data protection, today announced the results of IDG Research Services’ quick poll, “Backup Technologies; the Tale of the Tape.” The independent survey shows that deduplication has entered the mainstream and is effectively addressing the backup and data storage issues caused by exponential data growth. Large enterprises are leading the way – with mid-size companies and small businesses not far behind – in deploying and reporting significant benefits of the technology, including faster backups, quicker recovery, more efficient data management and lower operating costs.

Through its online poll, IDG Research collected information from 215 qualified IT leaders at large, medium and small companies across various industries regarding their use of backup and deduplication technologies. Key survey findings include:
Fifty-nine percent of all respondents either have a deduplication solution in place (43 percent) or plan to implement one (16 percent).
An aggregated 52 percent of large enterprises, 32 percent of mid-size companies and 28 percent of SMBs currently have a deduplication solution in place.
An aggregated 60 to 70 percent of respondents already have achieved or expect to realize faster backups, quicker recovery and improved efficiency with deduplication.
Forty percent of all respondents, regardless of company size, retain backup data for more than three years.

“Data is growing at the rate of 50 to 60 percent annually, which results in conventional backup and data protection environments becoming an overwhelming, costly burden. Unsure of what else to do, companies have purchased more backup media and spent a lot of money trying to solve the problem. However, with the introduction of deduplication technology, companies were able to cost-efficiently back up information to disk and store data for longer periods of time,” said Suresh Nair, general manager and vice president of sales and marketing of Asia Pacific for FalconStor. “Today, deduplication is an integral aspect of any modern storage strategy. The IDG survey shows that deduplication has been deployed and tested by a wide range of midsize to large enterprises, demonstrating its benefits to the rest of the market and accelerating adoption of the technology.”

The survey data also revealed that an aggregated 59 percent of companies polled are using a combination of disk-based backup and tape storage; and an aggregated 39 percent are using disk-based backup with deduplication. Tape continues to be a cost-effective medium for data archiving, especially as businesses are required to retain records for longer periods of time, while disk-based systems are deployed for faster backup and recovery. Deduplication increases the efficiency of both disk and tape, optimizing the management of both short- and long-term storage.

The FalconStor® Virtual Tape Library (VTL) solution, one of the industry’s fastest and most flexible disk-based backup and deduplication systems, is widely used by enterprises to optimize data backup, recovery, and storage. The FalconStor VTL solution provides customers the flexibility to optimize backup for speed and efficiency by tailoring deduplication processes to the needs of their environment. The system offers an array of deduplication options, including inline, concurrent, post-processing or no deduplication – and the flexibility to deploy them in multiple configurations to match types of data and available storage. Global Deduplication another key feature with FalconStor VTL, further enhances efficiency as it minimizes replication of data between between offices within an organization.

Study demographics
IDG Research polled 215 qualified IT leaders in various industries regarding the current and future use of backup and deduplication technologies. At the time of the survey 33 percent of these individuals worked at firms with more than 5,000 employees; 24 percent had between 1,001 and 5,000 employees; 35 percent had between 101 and 1,000 employees; and eight percent had between 50 and 100 employees.

LG LAUNCHES NEW CINEMA SOUND HOME THEATRE SYSTEM AND ULTRA SLIM SOUND BAR WITH FLAWLESS ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 May 2013 – LG Electronics (LG) today announced the availability of its latest and most advanced Cinema Sound home theatre system to-date, the BH9530TW – an industry leading 9.1-channel system that delivers on premium sound quality comparable to that found in a movie theatre. LG also simultaneously launched its ultra slim NB4530A sound bar capable of producing compelling rich audio that makes it a great companion for premium large-screen TVs.

“For LG, creating staggeringly good user experiences (UX) that resonate with consumers is increasingly driving our product development focus. Because LG possesses decades of hard-earned technological know-how, we are able to imagine a superb UX and create and implement technologies that bring the UX to life,” said HK Kwon, Managing Director, LG Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd.

“With our latest home theatre systems, consumers will feel like they are watching movies in a cinema, except from the comfort of their living room. Our new sound bar is also able to create a more immersive atmosphere by offering a depth of sound not found on conventional TVs. LG remains committed to continue offering innovative audio products that seamlessly blend style and superior performance,” continued Kwon.

Industry-Leading Home Theatre System that Completes Your Entertainment Hub

LG’s latest high-series Cinema Sound home theatre system, the BH9530TW, combines a number of technologies to produce a richer and fuller surround sound.

The industry-leading system comes with a 9.1-channel speaker system with a 1,460W sound output which optimally distributes sound and delivers the rich surround audio effect that lets consumers feel they were in a cinema. This is achieved by adding four upright speakers on top of an existing 5.1channel home theatre system. These four upright multi-directional speakers play the role of ceiling speakers, which make sound so immersive in cinemas. Rear speakers come wireless, greatly reducing unsightly clutter that the usual tangle of cables and wires creates.

LG also opted for top quality materials like employing Aramid fibres – the same type of high resistance fabric used in Kevlar - in the construction of the speaker cones which helps reproduce purer sounds with minimal distortion especially for more mid-bass response.

The new LG Cinema Sound home theatre system also offers a wealth of connectivity options, including Miracast, which is based on Near Field Communication (NFC). Miracast allows users to wirelessly and seamlessly mirror content from smartphones or other external devices. The BH9530TW is also comes equipped with Smart TV capabilities and when connected to an Ultra HD TV, the Ultra HD up scaling feature takes ordinary content and renders it in clear, crisp Ultra HD (3,840 x 2,160) resolution.

The BH9530TW also offers a new convenience feature for late night viewing, the Private Sound Mode, which allow customers to feed the system’s sound directly to their smart phone to ensure that the rest of the family has an undisturbed night’s sleep. Unlike competitor products which require expensive Bluetooth headsets to enjoy a similar feature, LG’s Private Sound Mode is easily accessed via Wi-Fi.

Superb Audio Performance in an Ultra-Sleek Design

At only 35mm tall, LG’s NB4530A sound bar speaker system fits perfectly under any TV. Its sleek, modern design with premium black and silver finish was conceived to harmonise with the current crop of large-screen TVs.

The new LG sound bar houses high-performance 160W speakers within its compact frame, while its wireless subwoofer packs extra bass punch. LG has incorporated its latest 3D Surround Processor technology into the sound bar to create a stunningly real audio landscape. The wireless subwoofer is supported by HDMI with an Audio Return Channel (HDMI ARC) and the wireless audio streaming feature allows for Bluetooth streaming from multiple mobile devices including smartphones, tablets and laptops.

To further reduce the messiness of cables, this new sound bar from LG also comes with a wireless sound sync feature that connects to any of LG’s latest TVs without requiring additional cables.

The LG NB4530A sound bar also offers installation versatility, as it can be wall-mounted, positioned as a stand-alone unit, or placed in close proximity to the TV. This gives consumers more control over the home entertainment setup while providing flexibility for a tidy fit in any room.
